As soon as you walk into Mineo's Pizza on Murray Avenue in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh, you know what Columbus must have experienced when he first glimpsed the New World. Not exactly, but you get the idea. The restaurant is always bustling, with nearly all of the booths filled and a brisk takeout business from local residents. The pizza sizes are huge and the portions are perfectly proportionied--not too much cheese, not too much sauce. Toppings are stashed underneath the cheese, so you know that your pizza was made for YOU. Despite the constant flurry of orders, the wait time is very reasonable--20 to 25 minutes on average. The only drawback is that there is no delivery (at least at the time of this review)--all orders are eat-in or carry-out. Rest assured, though, the pizza is worth the trip. Welcome to the new world, sailors.
