I credit Dr. Katz and Dr. Denish with saving my dogs life. After being horrifically misdiagnosed with food allergies by another vet, I watched my little dog get worse and lose 1/3 of his body weight. I called their practice after finding out that they were local and got an immediate appointment. Based on what I told them and the symptoms, they gave me 2 or 3 possible scenarios of what could be wrong with my baby. They ran blood tests and gave me tips on how to care for him in the 48 hours it would take to get the results back.

It was the worst case scenario - he had Diabetes. I was distraught and thought it was the worst thing ever. However, Dr. Denish calmed all of my fears, explained everything I needed to know about canine diabetes to me and took alot of his valuable time in order to make sure that I was OK even though I was crying over the phone. They made me a game plan of care for my dog and hooked me up with everything that he would need to keep his condition in control.

That was 2 years ago. Since then, my dog requires at least a monthly visit, sometimes 2x a month depending on how his sugar is. Being as I'm there (at the Rhawnhurst location mostly) so much I've gotten to know the staff and I board my dogs at their Elkins Park Kennel facility. I would NEVER trust my little boy to anyone else. Dr. Katz + Dr. Denish really care about animals and they get so personally involved with your pets. I have 3 dogs, and 3 rats. Dr. Denish has treated my rats, and Dr. Katz has treated all 3 of my dogs.

Everytime I snuggle with my diabetic dog, I thank my lucky stars that I found Elkins Park Vets, otherwise I'm pretty sure I would no longer have him.

If you love your pet you will avoid this place. Dr. Katz is shrill, inept, and unprofessional. Her first interaction with my cat was to drag him across the examining table instead of walking 2 feet to meet him face to face. Based on a 10-second description of a possible urinary issue, she attempted to place him on antibiotics w/o having any evidence of infection, and abjectly disagreed with my concern that some cats have strong reactions to ABs (I've had cats for 30+ years). She disappeared with the cat to another room to take blood, a urine sample, and clip his nails, which I've never experienced in all my years going to the vet -- procedures are nearly always done in the same room as the family. We heard the cat screaming for a couple of minutes. He returned without his nails clipped -- they said he got too upset. They also refused to give him a one-time pill for worms. Incompetent, rude, and insensitive treatment all around.
