Ratings_icons Wow what an awesome experience!!

Ronda K.

I'm from out of town. I came to Philadelphia on vacation, and to visit friends, and family. Everybody that I know raves about this spa. They have a large selection of beauty products that I can choose from, and especially for my skin it's not easy finding a product that will give that glow, and vibrant look. It's is truly an European spa with an American appeal, especially since I got the chance to talk to the owner Sophia personally on the phone. I just love her European accent, but it was easy to understand anyway. Everybody was so nice, and helpful. Their suggestions really helped me in picking out the product that would be best for my skin. Besides the excellent customer service, I had a world class massage. I don't think that I ever had as good of a massage until I came to the Body Klinic. They know their stuff. The visit to the Body Klinic made my vacation twice as enjoyable.

Ratings_icons Amazing Grace!

Melvina K.

I'm a girly girl who adores body treatments, facials, and massages so when I got a gift card to the Body Klinic from my mother I yelped and squealed from joy! Couldn't wait to get there, and you know what, they didn't disappoint! Was greeted by a young nice receptionist with an amazing accent. My mom got me the rejuvenation package that included a massage (the best so far), body wrap (preformed by a very nice and professional massage therapist, I forgot his name but he has long hair and he is Israeli :) ), then one of the best facials I have ever had, Michael was very understanding and made my great day even better. A manicure and a pedicure were standard with an additional and awesome twist, paraffin wax!
Oh what a joy!
Thank you guys, can't wait for my next birthday!!!

What a ripoff!
Went there thinking (as they advertise) this was a first class Day Spa-very very wrong!!
It was a horrible experience. The place is a hole in the wall with tiny rooms, very inexperienced therapists and a rude front desk!

It's too bad that you didn't bother checking our homepage at www.thebodyklinic.biz or look us up on citysearch to see a video of the place, and ensure that while the place is of a standard proportions for a center city spa it has a warm and homey feeling.

Ratings_icons DO NOT RECOMMENT FOR ELECTROLYSIS

Mjl1127

RUDE. Completely dissatisfied with the electrolysis treatment. There is no sign of certification anywhere either. I have been getting electrolysis done for nine months now, but had to find a new esthetician because I recently moved to Philadelphia. I had been going every two-three weeks with little growth. Upon going to The Body Klinic, I notice re-growth within the first week. This should have absolutely NOT happened, I called and went in for her to see what I was talking about. I will give credit that they allowed me a second session without charge, however the entire time she scolded me on how I had no idea what I was talking about and I should have never questioned her performance. She was belittling and treating me as if I had no clue what electrolysis was. Completely rude, could barely understand her too. DO NOT RECOMMEND for electrolysis, if I could give 0 stars I would... absolutely awful.

Pros: None.

Cons: Customer Services, Treatment, Everything

My boyfriend bought me a gift card in September for $200, which I kept saving for that day when I would need it most. Well that day came, so I took off a day from work last week and booked myself a day at the spa. When I called to make my appointment, I was asked to give the gift card number. I did not have the gift card with me, so I received three more phone calls over the next few days all asking for the gif card number. I finally remembered to call back and give them the number. It was odd and unprofessional, but I did not think much of it. I arrived the next day and while I was waiting, the receptionist, who was very unprofessional and quite nasty (not what one is expecting for a relaxing day at the spa) kept staring at her computer and shaking her head. I finally asked what was wrong and they said my gift card had already been redeemed and therefore was worthless. Apparently they redeemed my gift card back in October when I had previously scheduled an appointment, which I called to cancel days in advance. The receptionist while remembering my cancellation, claimed that I had rescheduled but failed to make the rescheduled appointment or cancel it. Ironically enough, the "rescheduled" date was a day I was away on vacation. I politely laughed and explained that there must be a misunderstanding. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, they refused to recognize my gift card and offered a discounted service! I was outraged! What they did is steal $200 and then just say that was the policy for failing to show up to my "rescheduled" appointment. It was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. There was clearly a misunderstanding, but instead of treating their customer with respect and giving a client the benefit of the doubt, they just stole my $200. I went to Juju later that day in Bella Vista and all of my tension (both previous and from that day) was worked out of me. Juju was wonderful. Professional, courteous, and not a bunch of thieves. Please do not give your business to the Body Klinic. A place like that should not be in business.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything

Ratings_icons My stylist GONE!! But I found him for you

LabelLover1968

I was just at the body klinic and was informed by a very rude old russian lady that my new amazing stylist danny (the one with the excellent reviews the bad ones are about this greesy older mexican man i guess was hired to replace him) was no longer working there.... And i just found him too. And just like the other review my hair was incredible. I would have been completely devistaed IF i hadnt gotten his personal contact info. Which i will post or you can email me. Now hes still available and was able to come to my house. It was even better not having to go out after a long day of work. Being able to relax and be pampered in my pjs was awesome. Danny is the best. His cell is 2672070829 and hes on face book under his email brantbaby24@aol I give him 5 stars and the spa only 1 now that he's gone

Pros: They helped me find my new at home stylist

Cons: nasty old russian lady

Ratings_icons Exactly what I needed...

LGot

I first arrived at TBK in early September, when I moved back to the city, based on the recommendation of a close friend. I was promptly greeted by a super friendly and energetic receptionist (Mira) who seemed eager to meet me right from the get go. Shortly after, I was introduced to (Biljana) my aesthetician who entered the room in the same fashion. In addition to being eager to meet me she was also eager to get my treatment underway. After patronizing various other places in the city I would say that the level of service was right up there with what I have received in the past from A.B. and far surpassed the previous treatments from Topp***.

Recently, after much debate, I decide to incorporate a hair treatment into my regular TBK regimen. I was hesitant at first because hair has only recently been added; but all my doubts were pushed aside when my stylist (Julian) came in prior to my service just to meet me and get to know my hair on a more personal level! To sum it up in four words ?it was exactly what I needed.? I couldn?t have been more pleased with the cut, the color and the education I received while he was doing it. To anyone who has never been to TBK you are surely missing out. Though small, this ?urban retreat? is just that. Leave the worries and bustle of the city behind when you walk through the door and be prepared to be pampered!

Pros: Great service and friendly staff

Ratings_icons City's best waxing

Snandee

I have searched long and far for the perfect bikini wax and I've found it! The Body Klinic is not only clean, but the staff is so friendly and make you feel so welcome! I was referred to Body Klinic by a friend when I lived in the city have been going there for my waxing for the past 3 years. I now live 30 minutes outside the city and still come all the way down there for this service! I won't go anywhere else.

The esthecian is so friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. The waxes are fairly painless (she makes it as much as possible) and super quick. Can totally be done on a lunch break.

I can't say enough good things about this place, it's definitely worth a try. I can't wait to try their other services.

Ratings_icons I Love Danny

lovelylourdes

The Body Klinic is such an amazing hidden retreat. I was referred by a friend that gets her hair done by Danny, their new hair stylist. Apparently they just started doing hair and had a beautiful renovation. (I love the crown molding). I was a little nervous because I have very complicated hair and have had several bad experiences in the past. Danny really listed to me. He sat down face to face with me rather then talking to me through a mirror. He spent a good 5-10 minutes asking me about my morning beauty rituals, past services, what things i did and didn't like and I really felt safe and confident when we began. He explained every thing he was doing and took the time to show me my cut as it was being done. He also turned me onto the best conditioner I have ever used. Their product line is all natural which I love. My hair cut and color turned out just as he had said it would and it was the look I had been trying to achieve for years. The color is so natural and I have received so many compliments. Also while there I found the best Brazilian EVER! i never thought it could be so quick and painless. I used to put off the waxer like people put off the dentist but now I get my wax and hair done once a month like clock work. It is small as some reviews have mentioned but now in a negative way at all. It has an incredibly cozy feel and the staff is friendly and welcoming. You feel like you've known them for years. Everyone is so polite and considerate towards each other and you really feel relaxed and removed from the outside world. I've been to so many other places that are chaotic and make you feel rushed or like a second thought to their own conversations. Here you are the main focus and you ARE the conversation. I love that everyone there seems to have a specialty and it really is a one stop shop. I never considered myself a spa type of person but once your here you can't help but want to spend the day. I LOVE DANNY!

Pros: I have the hair I've always dreamed of

Cons: I can't take Danny home with me

Ratings_icons great wax, great staff

bkep

I found this place when I first moved here in September and I am glad I did. It was going to be hard to find a place that could compare to where I was coming from and to my surprise it was just as great. My waxes last a long time and whenever I need one I just call and they get me right in for an appointment. I have also been fortunate to have a facial there which was also a great experience. I have heard great things about their massages too!
The staff is always very welcoming and everyone is very kind. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a body treatment.

Ratings_icons Amazing massage, rude old people

josb

I have been coming to this spa regularly for the past two years, not too much but after each exam season to get a massage from Igal and once in a while I'd get an occasional Brazilian to spice things up with my boyfriend.
As I said in the title, the massages are amazing! This guy really knows his stuff and not only makes you feel on seventh heaven but will teach you what to do at home.
That said I have to say that Brazilians are just meh...I mean I don't understand the reviewer below me, since when a genital waxing is a pleasant experience? I have to say tho that their Brazilian is $65 and I also get 10% student discount all the while at Toppers they make you pay $85 for the wax and will never remove hair the way you want it.
But I have to say that the last time I was in the body klinic I had somewhat of a flashback to the lowly spas of our great city, the services were great as usual but when I was done Igal gave me water while I waited to check out and the lady at the front desk (not the usual receptionist but some old redhead) started yelling something in Russian, while the Hair "stylist" jumped on me (and here I do agree with the last reviewer) saying that my hair needs a revamp, what an a$$hple! I just got it done two weeks ago at Pier & Carlo's and he dares to belittle my intellect by saying that I need to learn how to take care of my OWN hair?! Not only that, he had the nerves to actually check my hair by touching me with his greasy fingers....eeeehhh!

P.S: Kudos on the renovations, the place looks amazing!

Pros: Awesome staff (the younger guys), professional,

Cons: pushy hair guy, horrible old Russian lady

Ratings_icons Overpriced for services

offandaway

I went here for a bikini wax and eyebrow wax after the great recommendations on this site. It was completely unprofessional (compared to past experiences) -- they didn't put ANY wax remover/cooler on my eyebrows (even nail salons do this!), and only baby powder on after my bikini wax -- even after I mentioned I have sensitive skin! Let's just say I now give firecrotch new meaning. However, the waxer was VERY nice and friendly -- definitely not worth $85 though! Also, the hair stylist implied my hair was ugly and that he could fix it. NOT COOL.

Overall I wasn't impressed, especially considering the price! However I will say they did take my gift certificate without question.

Pros: mostly friendly staff

Cons: cramped space, expensive for quality

Ratings_icons Great first time wax

MissFirebug

I went to the Body Klinic after researching different spas and I'm happy I chose it.
On my first visit I had my legs waxed, the lady was very polite and talkative which totally relaxed me.
I loved how it came out, they were smooth for weeks!

I went back for another leg wax and a bikini wax. I had the same woman, and she tried to make me as comfortable as possible. I was extremely nervous about the bikini wax but she made the experience so much better with her talking.

I have spoken to a lot of people about 1 the body klinic services 2. the staff and 3. the owner and I have encountered them myself. I haven't heard one compliant. People I know enjoy the initimate environment and pleasant staff. The owner is very always looks after me and goes out of her way to make sure I was happy. She is a gem in this city. A wonderful, wild, great lady. Don't be fooled! Competitors will post bogus reviews to undercut their competition. This is a genuinly great place to go. period.

Ratings_icons Do not go here!! They do not even honor their own gift certificates!!

missambitions

I've never been to this place before, so I decided to make an appointment and I let the receptionist know that I had a gift certificate. I had the makeup application, since I was short on time. The staff is really nice and professional, but the owner was horrendous!! The place is also ridiculously small and cramped; the makeup station is 3 feet away from the receptionist's desk, it was a complete lack of privacy. When I went to pay and I presented my gift certificate, the owner looked at the certificate and said it was for facial and massage services only, not for makeup. The gift certificate said nothing about this restriction anywhere, and the owner wouldn't even honor it!! The makeup application was mediocre, I could've done it myself. Don't waste your time or money here, you'll leave feeling completely horrible because of this rude, bitter woman. You're better off going to the M.A.C. store a couple of blocks down; the staff did exactly what I wanted and showed me some wonderful makeup tricks.

Pros: staff is really nice

Cons: owner Sophia is rude and does not appreciate her customers

Ratings_icons Sometimes random, but good services!

I've been coming here for waxing on and off for a few years - usually just before heading down the shore. I was totally shocked when I came in this time to find a total staff turnover...and then to be told by a total stranger to strip from the waist down, as they didn't have the disposable underwear they usually use for bikini waxes. Let me tell you, I am not a Brazilian kind of girl, so that was a little weird. But I also have to say that WOW, the waxing was fantastic, and while I do miss Danielle, Biljana was friendly and cheerful. I also had a really nice pedicure, which didn't chip once - I finally removed the polish when my nails grew out! Also, I have to give them credit - they mention other services they have (facials, products, reflexology) but they never gave me a hard sell or tried to convince me to get something I didn't need.

Pros: highly skilled waxer, nice receptionist and staff

Cons: cramped, pedicure space is awkward, uncomfortable waiting area

This spa gave me some of the greatest waxes in philadelphia! I came in for a bikini wax and I was greeted with a very kind receptionist. I had a very little wait and my esthetican was out immediately. She was also kind and very sweet. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. She was fun to talk to and I actually found her very funny. She had an endering accent with short brown hair. Although my expirence at the body klinic was overall great, i was insulted when the owner of the salon told me i needed to fix my eye brows. She was very unprofessional in the way she acted and dressed. I loved the staff, hated the owner. I still suggest going to the body klinic, BEST FACIALS AND WAXING.

Pros: kind staff

I've done Toppers for years. It has aged and is not for me anymore. I won't try L'Etoile because of the rumors of them and the location in The Yunk. I stumbled across this delightful lil spot completely by accident. I was walking past and noticed the sandwich- board sign for a Spa. I began to read it when a friendly man stepped out and asked if I was treating myself to a massage. I laughed and before I could respond, he assured me that I deserved it. (I did)

It was pure bliss! The staff were all so friendly, unlike many other places I've visited. The pricing was quite reasonable and I believe God was in the room when I got my massage. I love a good deep tissue massage. Needless to say, I plan on becoming a regular! I hear they just added Demi Moore to their VIP List, too. Kudos, Body Klinic and staff! Kudos!

...and THANK YOU!!!!

Ratings_icons Good Massage, poor facial

kaleigh104

The massage was really good, although the building was cramped and not very spa-like. The employees seemed generally disorganized, and my facial really just was not good. The esthetician kept leaving the room for long amounts of time, and made me feel guilty about my blemishes, suggesting I see a dermatologist and stop eating greasy foods (for the record, my skin isn't THAT bad). Then she went on about the expensive cleansers they sell. They also had trouble ringing up my gift card at the end, but still gave me the credit for it anyway, which was nice of them. I definitely wouldn't go back for a facial, and I probably would not recommend this "spa".

Pros: Good massage, Eyebrow waxing

Cons: Disorganized, rude esthetician

Ratings_icons Disappointing Second Visit

I first went to the Body Klinic in July of 2007 and was very pleased with Tatiana's waxing job. She was really fast, professional, and an overall pleasure to see. I received a very mediocre manicure and pedicure at that time and would never go back there for a nail treatment. West End Nails across the street does a much better job for much cheaper. I just went back to the Body Klinic for waxing and was disappointed to learn that Tatiana had left. The new person who did my waxing did a nice job, but was pretty rude and cold. The sweet receptionist was not there, instead someone who couldn't get off the phone and seemed bothered that customers were even there. I don't think I'll go back. Very disappointing.

Pros: Great Hair Removal

The body Klinic was great. The location was perfect and the space was clean and quite and staff very professional. The massage and facial was one of the best ever - true extractions..... The pedicure was the first I have ever had in Philadelphia that was done in a bowl not a standard pedicure chair and tub. The bowl is much safer and cleaner. Will return...

Pros: staff - location - service

Read their reviews and mistakenly went here-big mistake. This is a small little/cramped place in a rather rundown condition. The facial was really bad and the esthetician had no idea what she was doing-nor did she speak much english!
The massage was even worse, the attitude really is awful.

My roommate and I purchased rejuvenation packages at The Body Klinic. We went on separate days over a three month span and we were both extremely dissatisfied. I recently went to the body klinic for a facial and waxing. I am not a stranger to the facility in Center City. I am always greated kindly by Mira the receptionist who is the kindest person I have ever met. And Danielle does a wonderful job with my eyebrows. Well recently I was in the Manayunk neighborhood and I saw that the body klinc was on Main St. I walked in and was kindly greeted with tea by Stacy and I got an unbelievable facial by Michael who is a cutie. He also did a wonderful job on my services. I have never left this place in a bad mood, it makes me feel so good. I love this place wonderful people work there.

She gave me the most amazing facial. She also showed me their products and recommended to me what facial cleansers would be good for my skin. I know go every month for a facial with Danielle and my skin looks amazing.
Danielle also now waxes my bikini and she does such a great job that I hardly experience any pain. This is a great place : )

This is by far the worst spa in the city. I went for a massage and wax but I was never serviced. I waited for about an hour and a half while watching other people get serviced before me. I finally got tired of waiting and asked the receptionist what was going on when she informed me that the person who was going to be doing everything was running late. They were not even considerate enough to let me know that whomever was running late and to maybe ask if I wanted to reschedule. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK.

Ratings_icons terrible massage and pedicure

suprmodl29

i always treat myself to a massage and pedicure after my dance shows and was really expecting good things at the body klinic. sadly, i was very dissappointed. my deep tissue massage was mediocre, if you can even call spreading lotion around a massage. i left with all my knots still intact! all through the massage, i could hear the receptionist talking and opening her coke can and just a lot of background noise in general. my pedicure was half-heartedly done, my feet were still callused since she gave up on them after stroking at them a couple of times with the pumice. after my pedicure, she ran away to give another massage, leaving me to fend for myself waiting for my toes to dry. staff would walk by and ignore me, not asking if i was ok or needed anything. overall, this spa is very unprofessional; the services are of subpar quality, they don't care enough to make you feel special, the magazines are all months old and i didn't even get my first time guest discount that was promised to me on the phone. i am NEVER going back to the body klinic, it was a terrible and dissappointing experience all around.

my mother treated me to a facial after a hard week of work. it was nice to sit there and relax and be pampered. especially by people that really know what theyre doing. my skin looks great. i cant wait to come back to try more things.

Ratings_icons Horrid,unprofessional and totally awful

sookafinder

What a disaster. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Not only were the services (if you can call them services) horrendous, but the owner (a woman named Sophia) rude and agreesive attitude was just so disturbing.
We had the audacity to complain about the terrible massages and facials and her answer was "then don't come back"!!
Don't worry we won't ever return..

Cons: Awful especially the owner

Ratings_icons I could not wait to leave this place

After reading the advertising we expected a luxurious and serene spa experience. What we received was anything but relaxing or serene. I must tell you that this place is really a poor excuse for a spa. The rooms were tiny, noisy and rather dirty. The technicians were ,at best, third rate, and to make matters worse my wife had a manicure with a woman name Nona who spoke no english and did a terrible job. Just awful

Cons: A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

Ratings_icons so so

I have gone here for several treatments in the short time that I have lived in Philly...I recommend it for bikini waxing, but because the place is so tiny and the walls "thin" the facial I got was not enjoyable. I went there to relax and all I heard was the receptionist on the phone.

Ratings_icons Just awful

s_free_girl

Whenever I travel to Philly I look for a new Spa to try. Well this time I really struck the bottomof the barrel. I read the reviews of this Spa and expected a great experience. What I got was horrible. The place is shabby, the staff was very inexperienced, and to top it all off the receptionist told me she had resigned due to "conflicts" with the owner-I can see why. The treatments (facial and massage) were just awful.

Pros: nothing at all

Cons: awful services and a shabby place

Ratings_icons The worst day of my life

gotchagrl

This was a nightmare.
I have never been to a more shoddy or a more unprofessional place.'
The services were abomnible, the staff was rude, there is no parking, and all they to do is sell you there cheap products.
I left crying and feeling used.

Pros: nothing

Cons: a horrible excuse for a Spa
