I got my vacuum fixed here, and it's working very well. Better than ever. I highly recommend this place.

The "refurbished" vac I bought at Fixavac is a real lemon. Beware of the sign that says "no returns on refurbished items". He really means it, though to call what I bought refurbished is a stretch.

In the month after I bought it I visited him 3 times:

1: The motor burnt out and was replaced.
2: The switch to turn the self-propelled feature on and off stopped working. He "fixed" it but it still does not click.
3: The unit motor started overheating and would then stop. He said this was because the bag was too full.

At this point I asked for a refund and was flatly refused.

Since then it has developed a problem of the belt for the rug beater falling off the motor shaft. It appears as if the motor shaft is too short, probably because the motor is the wrong type or it is improperly installed.

It still can't be used for more than 10 minutes or so without getting scary hot.

I won't even waste my time asking him to look at it.

There is a difference between a refurbished appliance and a cobbled together pile of junk. In my opinion, Fixavac's product is in the latter category. A real lemon.

We sent our vacuum cleaner to the repair shop and it came out working better than when it was new. We had a new cord installed ($25) and a tune up and we love our vacuum now. It works great and we were happy with the service. It took one day to get our vacuum cleaner back!

When my vacuum started making a loud noise I was worried that I was going to have to buy a new one. I checked around and found Fix a Vac and thought it would at least be worth a try as they give free estimates. To my surprise it was a very minor problem and I had my vacuum back quickly. The price was very reasonable especially compared to buying a new vacuum.
