Gusto never disappoints. Always good food, always friendly, and the student discount doesn't hurt either. BBQ chicken pizza and italian hoagie are personal favorites.

Pros: Cheap, Friendly, Delicious

Cons: None

I love Gusto's pizza. The white with broccoli is my favorite. Their other food is good too like the pita wrap with grilled chicken and pesto. The salad and sandwiches are big enough for 2 days. The food is dependable and the service good. I usually do take out, but you can eat in as well.

I live across the street from Gusto, so out of laziness, I order from them a lot, and I've tried a lot of different things on the menu. I'm not sure I get the raves the place is getting from so many of the reviewers. There are some Gusto items I've gotten that I like a lot - their calzones are excellent.

A lot of other stuff is pretty bog standard corner pizza place stuff - the mozzarella sticks are mozzarella sticks; the fries are fries; the cheese steak is okay, but I wouldn't put it in a category with actual good cheese steaks.

And then there's the pizza. I don't actually get Gusto's pizza much, because whenever I do, I have a pretty bad experience. The crust is good, admittedly. But I really don't care for the sauce - it's very sweet. (And it doesn't work on their meatball sandwiches, or whatever other items one gets with tomato sauce, either) And the cheese and sauce don't get integrated very well (and, generally, there seems to be less cheese than there should be). And, just in general, the pizza isn't very good, in my view. Obviously, Center City is not great for takeout pizza in general, but surely one can do better than Gusto?

That being said, the calzones are really very good, and I recommend them without reservation, and it's basically fine for any other thing not involving tomato sauce (although not spectacular).

I have my reservations toward American pizza, but Gusto is defies all my preconceptions every time. I am not crazy about the ambiance of the place, but I am always happy to walk 8 blocks there and back for my favorite Gusto pizza. The dough is thin and superb and the ingredients used are fresh and high quality. As for the service, they are helpful, friendly and fast. What can I say? I'm a fan.

I love Gusto. If my plans involve getting pizza, I'm giving Gusto a call. They have great sandwiches (try the buffalo chicken steak), and great onion rings, but I love the pizza. Their crust is crisp and not super doughy. My favorite pizza is the basil/tomato/pesto white pizza.

If you live reasonably close to their location, I'd suggest picking up your food. I've never gotten delivery (I live three blocks away), but every time I order, my food is ready in 10-15 minutes.

Gusto is a great addition to the neighborhood. Their food is tasty, it's ready fast, and they are friendly.
As a vegetarian, I'm partial to the Gusto pizza without the proscuitto. Good for take out or eat in.

Overall, Gusto offers very tasty pizza - in a warm cozy brick-lined setting if you're eating in. Though I would take issue with the other review comparing Gusto to Mama Palma's around the corner. Gusto is a great corner pizza shop, with food way better than most pizza/steak joints. A highlight for me is their sauce/gravy, which is seriously delish. Mama Palma's is more of a sit down gourmet pizza joint with fancier options (though also very good).

The service at Gusto is usually speedy. Often I'll call ahead and my pizza will be waiting within ten minutes - which I suggest. So don't daudle if you're calling first. My experience is that their delivery usually takes 45 minutes, which seems a little ridiculous in that I'm one block away.

Their crust is more like traditional NYC crust, unlike much of the crappy doughy crust offered by pizza joints around Center City Philly. As mentioned, very tasty sauce. A good range of toppings, inlcuding some in the gourmet direction. I've also tried their chicken steak, which has disappointed each time. Though it's topped with flavorful sharp provolone and is chunks of breast meat, it was painfully dry - even with sauce.

Price-wise if you stick to the basics they're very reasonable. However, the prices for fresh mozz and other toppings in a fancier direction do shoot up. Add a few of those together and you could be in for a shock. My only real compaint is they can be awfully skimpy with toppings. For an extra $1.25/$2.00 per topping, I expect more than a couple pieces of pepperoni or one artichoke quarter per slice.

Excellent place to go! Very family friendly, good food, friendly and normal wait staff! (Take your kids here instead of Mama Palma's, and you will be so-o-o-o much happier!) They will actually let you in and you can decide where you want to sit! Here you get great service even if you do bring your kids! You can even eat outside. It is great for the neighborhood with good pizza, burgers, great fries and fresh salads.

I have nothing bad to say about this place. I live across the street and have had a lot of items from the menu. Friends come into town and we always take them there. Never a bad review. For pick up, food is ready in 10 minutes. My favorites would have to be the Sausage, pepper and onion calzone, the grilled chicken sandwhich with brocolli rabe and roasted red peppers or the italian hoagie. The curly fries and the mozzarella sticks are also delicious. They have student discounts and lots of coupons. I am going there for dinner again tonight.
