the other reviewer's experience is different from ours. we engaged bowlin for a number of tasks large and small over the years, new ac, new furnace, chimney liner, air filter, small plumbing problems...

they always has alternatives that saved us money. for example, we could get a name brand ac unit but an almost identical one without the expensive brand cost us hundreds less and has worked for years.

we could probably find folks who charge a little less but we never had any problems with bowlin's work. everything seemed to work the first time. we tried larger firms like sembower (sp) but they had a hard time keeping to their own schedules - not showing up and did not call in advance to cancel, multiple times.

i hope they find a plumber soon as we have no reliable alternative at this point.

Pros: showed up on time, reasonable prices, good work

Cons: lost their plumber in 2009

We called for an estimate on sump pump repair on a day it was supposed to rain, so Bowlin Plumbing apparently thought they could make a lot of money that day by price gouging suckers. After attempting to charge us $272 for an estimate on our sump pump that they originally said would cost us $76, they handed us an estimate for the work they claimed needed to be done on our sump pump. They said it needed $2,690 worth of work, or, alternatively, we could pay $6,275 and replace the entire thing. When we checked around to see if these prices were reasonable, we learned that the work they said needed to be done actually costs between $180 and $300 (at least a $2,390 difference) and that a new sump pump actually costs around $1,800, including labor (a difference of $4,475). To top it all off, we didn't actually need any of these things - we were ultimately able to fix our sump pump (using another company, of course) for $125. After they heard we wouldn't be using their services, the tech from Bowlin then proceeded to call my office and harass my assistant - apparently upset that we had figured out his plan to price-gouge us.
