Phipps Conservatory

Phipps is amazing. From the time you walk in till the time you leave you should be amazed by the variety and beauty of the collections.The butterfly room is usually a favorite (when it is in season), and their changing exhibits are always amazing. It's worth going back to Phipps several times a year because of the new rooms which open with the seasons.Great place to take visiting relatives or friends.Cost is about $5 if you don't have a student ID.

The building is an old-victorian style greenhouse. There are several rooms and there are different themes according to the time of the season. They have rare flowers and common ones. They even have butterfly shows. The outside grounds are also well kept and lovely.

This is such a neat place to go and make sure ya bring the whole family! They have so many neat flowers on exhibit and at certain times of the year they have their butterfly exhibits where the butterflies just fly around the room. It is really nice! They have some strange flowers and when your all done there is a gift store where you can purchase some of those strange flowers and plants. A definate Pittsburgh must see.

The garden displays at Phipps Conservatory constantly change throughout the year and they are all very beautiful. In the spring, they have fabulous tulip displays on the expansive front lawn in front of the conservatory. There is a childrens garden in a portion and it is a nice way to involve younger individuals at the conservatory. Well laid out for the space and very well maintained. A nice stop if you are in Pittsburgh.

A beautiful conservatory set right in downtown Pittsburgh. This all glass house conservatory also has a wonderfully landcaped exterior and a few smaller outdoor gardens. The grounds and gardens, both inside and out, are well maintained. They have very nice holiday displayes and gorgeous tulips in the spring. Nice place to walk and good place to visit.

This is a great (and inexpensive) way to spend an afternoon. Parking is free and admission is very reasonable. The displays of flowers, trees, and foliage are amazing. The grounds are very well kept and there is even an outside area where you can enjoy the gardens and the sun. Don't forget at the holidays because they feature seasonal plants and displays. At Christmas they have a beautiful pointsetta display and a train and whole village set up in the main area. There is also a gift shop with some unique items and where you can buy plants. They are currently adding on to the conservatory so be sure to keep checking it out.

This place is a must see - even if flowers or gardening aren't necessarily your thing. The displays are absolutley beautiful with everything from everyday flowers to exotic blooms to butterflies, trees, and vegetables. We went at Christmas once and they had a poinsetta display, evergreen display, and even Santa was there among the flowers for picture taking. They also have a section outside to walk thru and a gift shop to browse. Across from the conservatory is a gorgeous old park, perfect for a picnic after viewing the flowers. Parking is free and admission is very reasonable.

They recently made renovations to the front entrance and it makes the visit that much more pleasurable. The floral exhibits are immaculate and the butterfly exhibit that they have every year is a wonderful experience. The outdoor garden is a great place to wander around and look at the foliage. Phipps is also located near a huge outdoor park. They also offer student discounts off of admission prices. Also, free parking is available with admission to Phipps Conservatory. Exhibits range from an Orchid room, a cactus room, a water exhibit outdoors, and a Japanese bonsai garden.
