You need to hire someone who can properly communicate with customers...and you won't deliver 5 miles from your store??..utterly ridiculous. .people were so rude and uneducated.

Pros: Best Sushi too in Pittsburgh

.

Those with little sushi eating experience should not be permitted to post comments about this restaurant. I've lived in Japan for several years and can tell you that my dining experience at Sushi Too was authentic and quite similar to "the real deal". I highly recommend this restaurant for it's sushi and noodle dishes. Also, that orange dressing rocks!!!

I have attempted dinner at sushi too 3 times, and have always been disappointed. The staff looked at me like I had 2 heads when I requested "brown rice" and the result was something hard without using the proper sauce. ew. the fish is generally rubbery, and the menu not creative. i'd rather get the take-out sushi at whole foods and eat in my own backyard than go back for a fourth missed attempt.

Deceived by Walnut St location. Sushi was sub par, crab rolls were Krab "imitation'. My platter consisted of mostly fried items that left me feeling greasy and gross. Seafood seemed frozen and low quality. Service was nice, but not that attentive. Save your money and go to a real sushi place.

I received a gift certificate here, so my friend and I went for lunch. We ordered 3 rolls of sushi, drinks, and each got a lunch special for $30. I highly recommend the lunch specials...you get a salad, soup, and a lunch that includes portions of three different items. I have no complaints here. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had but for the price, I think it was great. I particularly liked the miso soup, which had the tofu diced instead of in huge chunks like some places tend to do. If you are a sushi snob this is not the place for you, but if you're looking for a casual place to get sushi and Japanese on the cheaper side, this might be for you.

I saw all of these negative reviews for this place but a very high overall score. I also thought this restaurant was mediocre the one time I ate there. I decided to total the stars from all of the reviews and divide by 16 (the number of reviews posted when I did my math) and found the average rating was 2.375 stars, not the four and a half stars so prominent when you read the review! This should be rectified.

I had a vagetable noodle soup with full of insects in it. They told me "it's from broccoli" without any hesitation and guilt. Why didn't you describe on your menu that the soup was made of insects? Surely, you'll get some proteins you didn't expect that much from the vegetable soup though,
When you order any kinds of food made of vegetables, be prepared for unexpected ingredients in your soup.

I've always been told - if you walk into a sushi restaurant and it immediately smells like fish - leave. We should have because that's what first caught my attention. I decided to give it a chance since I'd heard such good remarks from others - but I now wish I hadn't. The vegetable tempura was very good. The sushi, not so much. Didn't taste very fresh and was below average as far as sushi goes. I don't plan on returning any time soon. And I agree with another review - don't let the Walnut St address fool you.

IN THISH RESTAURANT, SUSHI IS NOT RECOMMENDED, AT LEAST WHEN I WENT THERE. OTHER FOODS ARE OKAY BUT THE SERVERS WERE NOT VERY FRIENDLY.

Sushi is an art. Presentation guidelines stretch back for hundreds of years. The reason is cleanliness and health concerns. Sushi Too is located in the trendy Walnut Street shoping district in Shady Side. Don't be fooled by the address. Its Sushi presentation and quality is poor. Go to Kiku or Sushi Kim to see professionals at work, then go to Sushi Too. You will see fish laying roughshod around the chef area, the sushi presentation is disheveled. Some of the sushi actually tasted bad to me. The masago was dry and granular. I think that this place was created to take advantage of it's location: high-end trendy environment. If you go to New York, Chicago, LA, San Franciso, Miami, you will find quality. This level of quality does not exist at Sushi Too. And with Sushi, there is NO room for compromise. It's too dangerous.

Well, I have been to this place several times with my boyfriend and it gets worse everytime we go, so we stopped going there.
First of all, the place is NOT for romantic dining.
The sushi is not that great.. Compared to other sushi places in town, this place is way to pricey for its quality. They do offer a lot of choices, but the quality is not that great.

Maybe I'm just a New York snob, but this was some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The fish was not cut well, it was too tough, the seaweed tasted funny and the rice wasn't right. I've had better sushi from the supermarket. Skip it and save up to splurge at someplace worthwhile.

I love sushi and will tolerate minor variances, but this was not a place I would recommend. Focusing purely on food, I was very disappointed. Quality, freshness and presentation was mediocre. Kelp was almost inedible, rice was dryish and fish felt limp. Unagi roll was breaking up and the sauce was too thin. Miso soup tasted soapy. Greeter was pleasant; I was seated and served promptly; and the waiter was efficient.

I do not agree with the 2 negative reviews-I have dined at this site for over 7 seven years and always found the food to be good to very good. It not too pretenious, and definitly not shabby either, with good services and helpful friendly owners on site. Not cheap but not expensive. And, I've dining at similar restaurants all over Japan, the U S Caribbean and Spain. But, be sure to instruct the server on the progession you wish the food to arrive in, as often all the various dishes come at one time

We're new to Pittsburgh and Sushi Too was described to us as "decent" and "less expensive than Umi." Decided to try it, and were pretty disappointed. While the server was very friendly, the sushi overall was bland. We were excited to see one of our favorite appetizers, Tuna Tataki, and decided to use it as our gauge. First, it came at the end of the meal. Worse, it was not a superior cut, and was essentially "marbled," with whitish-yellow streaks throughout. Not the melt-in-your mouth tataki we're used to. We couldn't even finish it--took only one bite apiece. Whole meal was overpriced--and we're more than willing/used to spending $60-70 in Baltimore for good sushi!

Wow! Sushi mediocre at best. Certainly overpriced. Atmosphere, alittle bland. Sushi "chef" was very rude. I grew up on sushi, and I have to say, this was overall, the poorest quality I had ever experienced. Charged $9.95 for 1 handroll! Very shady, indeed.
