Just like to say these guys have worked on my cars for 10 years and I am very pleased with their service. Work is done on time and for the price I was told . I would highly recommend them.

I had my mercedes 300E in for a problem with the a/c The car was at the mercedes dealership for the same problem and they said it needed a new compressor. Not wanting to put 1500.00 in a 13 year old car.,
I
took it to import auto. The friendly people (Jill ,Mike) told me it just was corraded wire and a recharge. The repair cost me less than 300.00!!! Iam now ready for summer! Thanks Guys Frank .

This place sucks balls... If you are looking for a place to get your oil change go to Walmart the employees are friendly and helpful. This place is not worth the time of day. I dropped off my car in the morning for something that takes less than 1 hour. I never received a call that the car was done either. I had to call and the very unhelpful receptionist said it had been done for awhile..please if you are thinking about going here save yourself the time and money an go anywhere but import auto works.

PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! I am very upset with their service for mechanical work and for how they tow and take advantage of college students with no money. I first met this company when needing work done to my Saturn, not only did they not finish the job and offer a dealer that could, they broke my storage holder in the middle of the car and tried to glue it back together so I would not notice! And failed to mention it until I raised a storm and got them to admit it! They also then towed my car for no reason just to spite me. I was parked at my home apartment building and have been for two years and for some reason they just towed me to get me back! Of course, I did not pay. U square rentals called immediately and demanded them give me my car back for free because I was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! So, please avoid them for mechanical work and go to Monro or somewhere more reputable! God bless

It's nice to see that Jill the counter manager audits the complaints and tries to increase the overall ratings.

I have had the WORST service on the world from this business. While this is a great forum for complaints and warns other people of the pitfalls of dealing with them, it does nothing to stop the practice of replacing good parts or hiding cars.

Complain to the Better Business Bureau! Complain to the state of PA as he is licensed to do PA State inspections.

The more legitmate complaints are filed the more Import Auto Works goes under the microscope!

STOP THE RIP OFFS!

Reading all the reviews, I feel that I need to clarify a few things. First of all, the "after hours" phone number is on the answering machine so, if you listen to the message, there is no reason that you cannot get in touch with the tow truck driver; secondly, the fee for illegal tows is accepted in cash or CREDIT....the only form of payment not accepted is CHECKS; and thirdly, the company provides all customers with rides to the impound yard and there is no charge for that.
Now, for auto repair, I hear many, many, many people VERY pleased with the work done there, me being one of them. Also, if you have a problem and call and talk to Mike, he always does whatever he can to fix the problem and have a happy customer. The majority of his customers have been relying on his experise for decades and would go no where else. It is a shame that people have the ability to bash one of the few reputable businesses in Indiana.

not professional mechanics there; horrible place and customer service -- result: unsatisfactory customers. this place is after $$$ and only $$$. they make one feel stupid so they easily ripped them off ... they changed so many parts that don't need to be changed just to charge $$$. a lot of people I know in person complain about this business and Mike. they told me he ripped t hem off many times. now i am dealing with Lias bros (on the 4th str) -- amazing people and reasonable prices and good customer service.

Import Auto is the worst place you would ever go to fix your car at! if you have just one minor problem, you will end up having 5 or 7 problems with your car when visiting the Import Auto so they can charge you so high. Once my car had one problem and I ended up having more than 5 problems and the original problem persists and I was charged over $700! also, the mechanics there are NOT professionals as they rely on guessing which indicates they having nothing to do with cars. Beware people of such place as such a company uses unfair business practices and they are liars who would milk for not only not fixing your car problems but also for damaging your car so you can go back again and again ..... this is what happened to me and to a couple of my friends dealing with import auto in Indiana, PA, on Oakland Ave.

I live in an apt. complex that these people tow out of and i have had my car towed from other apts they tow out of. I have never had any problems with them. They always answer their phones every time I have called. And they even picked me up from my apartment and drove me down to my car. I pay alot of money for my parking spots and people have inconveinced me my parking in my spot. I have also had my car towed by other companies in Indiana and trust me Import is NOT the most expensive, unreasonable, or ignorant for that matter. There has never been any damage done to anyone's vehicle that I know. Matter of factly I started taking my car to this shop to be repaired and I would recommend them to anyone with an imported car. As for the cash policy? I wouldn't trust that someones bank account had the funds in it to cover a $100, especially if the person can't read a sign that says NO PARKING! If they can't read who knows if they can perform basic math

I dont like how anybody can write anything they like on these pages regardless of the truth. I have dealt with the guys from import auto works for 20 years .They have always been honest, reliable and very fair with me. Mike and his gang have worked on 7 different cars for me over the years and always done a excellent job. My son now takes his car to them and is very happy also. To be in business that long they have to be doing something right. Keep up the good work!

I recently had a wheel bearing installed there. I had done some business with Mike in the past and he was alright. He gave my job to one guy and he pawned it off to a younger kid to do. Needless to say I was not happy with the job. The ABS and Brake lights in the dash kept coming on and Mike looked at it and told me it needed a new wheel sensor. Price $163 but he would wave his labor on it to install it. I took the car, An Audi home and checked the wheel lugs like I always do. They were hammered on so tight I had to use a breaker bar with a piece of pipe on it and jump with my full weight to break them lose. BTW I'm 205 lbs. Not satisfactory with me at all.I let the wheel sensor go for a couple months and pulled it in my garage to look at it. I found it was never pushed in the whole way and just left hanging there. Remember he was to charge me $163 for a new one. I took the old one out completely and cleaned it real good. I also cleaned the bore where it goes into. I finally installed it and seated it the whole way in and it now works perfectly. Much better than the $163 it was going to cost me. There's no excuse for these kind of blunders. I would not recommend going there for any kind of service. And remember this man used to be a friend.

I've been using Import Auto Works for over ten years now for all my auto repair needs. They are very honest and knowledgeable about all car makes. They have actually talked me out of having work done that wasn't needed. They have been very helpful and reliable. I would not hesitate to reccomend them to anyone who needs repair work done.
Odd to see that two negative reviews here are posted by people that have had their cars towed. Probably local college students who always park where they shouldn't!!!

Having seen how this company uses unfair business practices with two neighbors I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. When trying to contact someone from there about getting a car released it took over a week, meantime the lot fee's were adding up daily. I question a company that will only deal in "cash" sales as there is no way they can be held accountable come tax time. Avoid using them is the best advice I can give. Their rates are not in par with other companies in the Indinia area.

PROS:
CONS: They are good at the art of deception when it comes to getting a car back

Import Auto has a reputation for being impossible when releasing a car. Rates are usually around $125 and cash is insisted upon. Although it's understandable that cars must be towed when illegally parked, but some of the practices involved with this company seem unethical. For my apartment complex, cars are often hitched, and if the owner approaches the truck before they leave, no discount is given on the towing fee. Through my job I've been made aware of unhappy car owners who have no way of contacting the operator of this company and then are forced to pay storage fees until their calls are returned. The impound lot is located far out 2nd street - way out of town and to which it is impossible for local students to find transportation . Depending on the employee, the company is willing to pick-up and transport car owners depending on circumstances.
