Established since 1987, Chubby's has been known to serve mouth-watering cheesesteak sandwiches to Philadelphia locals. In addition to what they are best known for, they also serve Hoagies, french fries, and a variety of beer selections to accompany your sandwich dining. Casually dine with your friends late into the night in Chubby's warm and inviting atmosphere.
The cheesesteaks here are excellent. Fast service and friendly staff. Alcohol served on site. However, the buffalo chicken cheesesteak is not recommended as it is very messy and runny.

A good quality steak, good service, and a cold beer while you wait. Better than your average philly neighborhood cheesesteak joint, but without the line of the tourist traps. A quality choice if you're in the area and want a low key place with decent food over a beer with a friend.

Don't let the D'Allesandros partisans fool you. They haven't eaten there in years and are living on past memories.
Chubby's serves steaks TO ORDER, not from a 20-pound mound of steamed gray meat. Onions are chopped a little large for some tastes. Steaks are right on, though, and being able to order a cold beer makes it all the better. Decent fries too !
Pros: They server ice cold beer and rib eye steaks
Cons: Rep is not as good as D'Allesandro's

I started going to Chubby's because dalessandro's, across the street isn't open on Sundays, doesn't take plastic and never has parking. Once I tried their food, I was hooked. The steaks are perfect and so are the hoagies and the fries. They are never skimpy and the service is fast and friendly. There's plenty of parking and they are open until the wee hours of the morning. Also, while you wait, you can have a beer and read the city paper- what more can you want?
Pros: you get good food with no hassle
Cons: haven't come across any negatives and I go all the time.

My son flew into philly and heard about Chubby's from a girl firend so we searched it out. We all had their chees steaks with. Like the fact that the onions and pepers are not chopped up with the steak, That with the excellent steak they used is flavorful. Not greasy as some other joints can get. I would have liked a little more cheese in mine. We tried the cheese steaks across the street and they were not as good as Chubby's. We are from Jersey so don't get to Philly too often but any time I'm in the area looking for a great cheese steak I know where to go and I'll recommend them to anyone.
Pros: Great Cheese Steaks, serves beer and decent parking.
Cons: It's a chesse steak joint! not a great part of town.

The cheesesteak is average. Unfortunately for Chubby's, they sit across the street from Dalessando's, which in my opinion, has the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia (and therefore, the world). Chubby's just can't compare. The only reason that I would go to Chubby's would be if Dalessando's was closed when I arrived.
Pros: Decent parking
Cons: It sit's across the street from Dalessando's, the best cheesteak place in Philadelphia.

The cheesesteaks and sides at Chubby's are really good and the condiment bar in the sit down section definitely adds to it.
It's my first choice when I am running around Philadelphia.
Pros: Great food, lots of it
Cons: Not really sure what you mean

I know I'm repeating what many others have said here so I'll make it brief.
Chubby's is a great place for an AUTHENTIC Philly Cheese Steak.
I drive a limo and I bring lots of my clients here ( as long as they don't order it with Wiz, that's a joke played on tourist )
Do it right. Provolone or American, ONLY ( unless your a politician then Swiss is ok because everybody already knows your a jacka%*% )
Most comments here are pretty much same as mine, except one ( chzsteak ) Where did that illiterate country bumpkin come from? Consider the source I guess.
Anyway if you want a good meal ( they have lots of beers from around the world too ) at a fair price then this is your place.
Pros: Quick Service, Good Value
Cons: No long lines at 3am

My friend took me to chubby's when was younger the quality of their food from taste to product quality was perfection.I soon found myself returning very often..I find myself in Iraq missing Chubby's as much as i miss my family. Highly recomended. True to the philadelphia lifestyle. If you dont go you are missing out.
Pros: too many to list
Cons: there isnt a chubby's in iraq

Look, I eat steaks with such frequency there is a good chance I won't live to see 40. I want to give Chubbys a big thumbs up, especially for their delectable chicken cheesesteak. The onions are particularly noteworthy. Bread and meat are tops in quality. And where else can you get the coldest beer in town served in a frosty mug while you wait for your sandwich? One of Philly's best that's worth the trip on any serious steak eating tour.
Pros: COLD beer while you wait, lively crowd, quick service, open on Sunday unlike Dals.
Cons: none

Cons: bad food

Skip Pat's and Geno's the steak tastes like leather, are small for the price you pay, and are no more than tourist traps. I have never understood why these 2 places are considered good. D'Allesandro's in Roxborough is also over-rated, steak is chopped too finely and there isn't much of it. I am a bit of a cheesteak officianado and have sampled steaks from through the Philadelphia area. Being born and bred in this area and living all around it I must say that as of right now the best I've had are at Chubby's in Roxborough. Chubby's comes with a fork there is so much steak and there isn't a line of people out of the door waiting. The bread is very good and steak is juicy and plentiful. My main rating factor's include roll selection, meat quality and quantity, and cheese flavor.

We are from NYC and just came back from Philly after a short weekend getaway. I've been to Dalenssandro's couple years ago and wanted to take my boyfriend there to taste how a good cheesesteak is supposed to be like. Sadly (but good) that Dalenssandro's was closed for vacation and we went across the street to Chubby's. To our surprise, this place is comparable to Dalenssandro's and way better than Geno's. Both my boyfriend and I love trying little local places instead of the big, fancy, well-known tourist traps. The steaks were huge, tender and juicy, and they served beer in an icy cold mug! We shared a cheesesteak with green peppers & onions, and a mug of Yuengling lager and it came out only $10 with tax and tips! Although it's a bit of a drive from the downtown area but it's definitely worth it!
Pros: Cheap and tasty food! Plenty of parking space
Cons: A little far from downtown attractions

These steaks are great!!!! Easily my favorite!!!! Way to go Chubby's!!!!! I really like Chubby's food, great job!

Yeah Pat's is great and what not, but Chubby's steaks are the absolute best. There chopped hot peppers are insanly great... and it is a nice place to sit and eat. Best around!!

I have never eaten at Chubby's, but have gotten steaks for takeout. They are very good, as are the cheese fries. Good Philadelphia classics!

Sure the places downtown are famous, but who likes to be treated like cattle when you are getitng your steak. Chubby's booths make for a comfy place to enjoy a perfect steak. They mix their steak and cheese together into a perfectly goey cheesesteak symphony. complete the meal with an order of regular or curly fries and sitback and enjoy the ride.
This place is a MUST
Pros: Cheesesteak, Hours, Beers, hot pepper bar,
Cons: only one location

At Chubby's make sure that you make the right choice. For me that right choice is their Chicken Cheesesteak with a Birch Beer or if you're in the mood--a 40. Also, choose the right booth to sit at with your group and bring quarters for the juke box.
Pros: Good juke box, delicious steaks, great hours
Cons: Slow grill service, distance from Center City

Awesome. True representative of Philly steaks...Great taste with choice of real cheese.
Pros: quality, service , taste
Cons: parking

Fresh roll, tasty steak. It's open until 2 am and serves cold beer to wash the steak down. It's definitely one of the better steaks I've had.
Pros: Food, Price

There are a lot of places that get the the hype in Philly - you know them - the places you go at 3AM wasted... anything tastes good in that condition at that hour. Chubby's is the classic cheese steak... simple and tasty. It's not the Taj, but it is down home Roxborough. If your in Manayunk or Rox - go there you'll love it.

Great Cheesteaks with the worlds best hot peppers-can't get enough!
Pros: Crowded, Reasonable, Parking
Cons: Crowded
