I call Kanze Inc. to repair a heater that was under warranty with Trane.

Because there was a typo in the warranty agreement, it would take a few days to correct, and validate my coverage. I needed heat badly, so agreed to give the office my credit card number, just in case the warrany corrections were not made in a timely manner.

The serviceman evaluated the problem with my heat, only to find out that it was not a heating problem but rather a wiring issue with my circuit box.

I agreed that I should pay a service fee. I was told that they would charge me $250!! for a few mintues evalulation. I was appalled, and did not believe them. I had a friend call later to assess service charges. She was told, with me on the other line, that the service charge was $100 for 45 mintues, and $115 per hour for labor, to be billed in 15 mintue increments.

The technician stayed all of 15-20 mintues tops, which should fall in the $100.00 range.

Stay clear of this unethical company if you know what is good for you.

Cons: Service charge is not consistent

We had a heater installed. It was not installed correctly. A technician was here three times and couldn't fix the numerous problems. We got another company and they told us our heater was not installed properly. It cost hundreds of dollars to get the heater fixed.

Cons: Very Bad Company

Ratings_icons On Time, On Budget - Great Job!

Just bought a new house and found out (the hard way) that the heater was installed with a pretty annoying problem -- holes in the duct work attached to the heater. Essentially I was heating my basement without knowing about it.

After speaking with Marvin Kanze, Inc. I expressed my need for a "first appointment" and that the contractor be "on time." I was told "9:00 or shortly thereafter" and so I gave a window of 9:00 - 9:30am... and Paul showed up at 9:00am, not a minute after!

Within the hour he saw the problem, removed the tin duct and replaced it -- so I no longer keep the old luggage, tools and painting supplies warm this winter!

Great job guys -- I've already called for an estimate on installing humidifiers to the heaters!

Pros: Timely, Efficient
