Our company hosted a holiday dinner here. The place is lovely and the staff was courteous. The food was ok. A few things were pretty good, others were just so-so. We also attended a wedding catered by them. The food was a little better this time, but nothing stellar.

WORST PLACE EVER!

The experence there was a slightly better than running my own hand over with a big mac truck. First of all while walking in, we watched a lady park in a handicap spot, whom was not handicap, with her dog, unleashed, & the take her dog INTO the catering hall. The lady of which I speak turned out to be the owner. We then waited almost an hour for our food, watching 3 other tables get starters, entrees & paying, before our food even arrived at our table. The food was decent, don't get me wrong, that was NOT the problem. When the food finally got to the table the plates were SO hot the pickles & leaf garnish were cooked completely through. The knife on my sisters plate was so hot it burned her finger when she went to pick it up, leaving a blister. We asked to speak to a manager & to our surprise there was none on site. Instead we got to speak to the owner, Jan. Who was just the biggest ray of sunshine I have ever met. (SARCASM) Upon trying to just inform her about how her restaurant was being run she persisted to scream at us infront of everyone in the place. She then offered to comp our meal, although my $100 back would be nice, it was not the point we were trying to make. All we really wanted to do was inform her of what was happening. She then called my uncle a dumbass, while her hostess rolled her eyes at us. She honestly did not care at all about the fact that we had a bad experence. My uncle, whom has managed a restaurant in NYC for over 20 yrs, was simply just to inform her of our experience. Of course, it turned into a large yelling match, where drunk "loyals" at the bar are yelling at us to get out, while we are sitting there being screamed at by Jan At this point we are just done & leave, but not before I say to those drunk '"loyals" that this was not us trying to complain & it had nothing to do with them, so they should just leave us be. The bus-boy then persists to yell at me to "get the hell out", while I was trying to walk out the door, he pushed me & slammed the door in my face.

I dont know about anyone else, but thats not "Excellent service" in my eyes. After leaving, Jan chased after us in the parking lot, continuing to yell at us. Anyone who thinks this place is anything above one star, should really have something tiny go wrong & ask to speak to Jan, to see what kind of attitude you get.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that if you go to McCoole's Red Lion Inn & have any issue about your food, service or just have some constructive critisism, you're better off screaming your complaint to a deaf man, because Jan does not care about you or your experience, just how high your credit limit on your credit card is.

I visited the Red Lion once and only once. I had heard many good things about it and wanted to give it a try. I was less than impressed. It was supposed to be a nice dinner, but I could've gotten most of the food they served in the freezer aisle at the local grocery store and nuked it at home for half the price. The potato side dish was one of those twice baked/stuffed potato things you buy in a 2-pack in the freezer section. It wasn't worth the price back then and seemed to have hardly any business. Perhaps things have changed since then.

McCooles is definitely an upscale bar in comparison to others in Qtown. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the food is good, and the drinks are great. The best part is that the prices aren't really upscale. Its a great place to just sit back and enjoy!

Wow this is a great place to dine! I have been there a few times and every time I have a delicious meal and not mention great dessert. The ambiance of the Inn is so cozy and warm. It's rich history just adds to the experience. I highly recommend this place!

We've been there on several occasions. The food is very good and worth the trip..They have some unique dishes and higher quality dishes than your average restaurant chain. The atmosphere is nice with their live music, but it can be loud at times. The service was slow on every visit, which was fine because we were socializing. I don't consider this place to be kid friendly. Make sure you make a reservation if you plan on going at a busy time.

Stop in McCooles and enjoy the locals, who always seem to have a story to tell about Qtown. The tavern is decorated nicely, and the help is friendly. Lots of selections at the tap, and the munchies are good, too.
