HOLY TOMBSTONES! If a minus were available, I would use it. I think that Tanis has struck again. First, I do not believe the positive reviews, as Tanis has left her mark all over the area. I don't know who she paid off, or how much, but those positive, glowing reports are not true. Some of us had waited several years for her to make good on her desruptive promises, and some have never been compensated, or had their money returned. There were people of different backgrounds, all of whom had basically the same story. Tanis made all sorts of promises, but never came through with the "goods". We even took her to small claims court, but she always seemed to weasel herself out of the tight situations. I also had a court case against her for identy theft, as she used my credit card to pay off one of her debts. Her attorney said that she would "split the difference", but I told him I would see he and Tanis in court, and ended the call. Within 45 seconds, he called me back. I greeted him by name, which caught him by surprise. He said that she would return all of my money. From what I hear, Tanis' husband keeps on "pulling her out of the fire". Well, as they say.... "love is blind", but they forgot to add "stupid and conniving" into that mix. Well, I think that she has struck again......... How timely. Ok Tanis, enough with the trick or treat, already. It's time to turn into a decent human being instead of a bloodsucker. This has been going on for entirely too long. Why prey on the most vunerable of people at a time of sorrow? It just is not legal, ethical or kind.

Carlini Monuments

Tanis Cochrane, a very nice accomodating young woman, spent time and kindness in showing me my options. She even went so far as to drive me to a few different cemeteries to see actual stones I had seen in her book.

I chose a black stone with cultured roses, rosary with praying hands, all engraved in a brilliant white. I had first thought gold but she showed me the different markers. She pointed out how bright the white was, and already knowing my taste convinced me to pick the right color.

Our stone is absolutely gorgeous we get nothing but raves and truly fitting for our father and mother. You can actually see it from outside the cemetery gates. Our family is very proud and thrilled to have such a good quality, deep rich black stone with all the tasteful work. We owe so very much to that young woman, who took so much time and effort into making our parents tribute so fitting. We would recommend her and her dealership to any and everyone with questions referring to the monument business.

Tanis treats you like her own family.
We thank you Tanis Cochrane.

I have a very similar situation. My mom died in July 2005. In September 2005 I went to Donatelli's on Brownsville Road and met Tanis Cochrane. I wish I would have walked out and never went back. But she fooled me! Because my mother was very Irish I wanted a green stone. She took me around and showed me various stones of various colors. I knew what I wanted on the headstone - I wanted my mother's name, her birthdate and date of death. I wanted above her name to read "Beloved Mother and Grandmother". I wanted below her dates "Until We Meet Again May God Hold You In The Palm of His Hand". I also chose a Celtic Cross. When I made my sketch of how I wanted these words and items placed I turned it over to Tanis. She wrote up the order and I paid in full with a check for $1800.00. She sent me a photocopy of what my design was which was done by someone else. It had shamrocks on it and other items that I did not want. I wanted the stone to be done exactly how I ordered it. The $1800.00 was the price for everything; the stone, the engraving, the digging and placement of the footer. I was told that the footer would be poured not long after my paid order was placed so that the stone could be placed when it was done. This I was told would take 3 months because the green stone had to come in from India. I was a foot to fall for this, believe me. Three months passed. I had been told the stone would be in, engraved and placed by Christmas. I made many many calls to Tanis. None were returned. I decided to stake out the office on Brownsville Road. Her mother was there. She seemed surprised that Tanis had not received my calls. I wrote out a message for Tanis and left it with her mother. Still my calls were not returned. I finally got a return call after I had called repeatedly for days. I got the run around so many times and so many stories - I don't know how she kept her lies straight. The cemetery told me that Tanis had never made arrangements to have the footer poured nor been in contact with them at all. I finally found out that my stone had come in and that it was with another monuments dealer - Gaydos Monuments in Canonsburg, PA. So I decided to call them and get the status of my stone. They had received no paperwork with regard to the engraving nor had they received any payment, etc. I gave Mr. Gaydos a copy of what I wanted to be done and asked him to sign his name with mine as the final version of what I wanted. I told him I would be contacting Tanis to have this stone done ASAP. I was having family in to see the stone in its proper place. Oh, by the way, this was February of 2006. Remember I ordered and paid for the stone, etc. in early September 2005. I contacted Tanis again and told her I paid a visit to Gaydos. She said "oh we still have to decide on what to put on the stone". She said she was sending to me in the mail a new version of what she wanted the stone to look like. I am sure this was to buy her time or something. I don't think she had the money to paid Gaydos for the engraving, etc.

Well, the stone was engraved FINALLY. This was March of 2006. But Tanis was to go to Queen of Heaven Cemetery and get the permit to have the footer poured and have the stone placed. She never did. Instead, she and her crew of whomever took the stone out to Queen of Heaven and placed it on the gravesite just below where it should be placed with NO AUTHORIZATION from Queen of Heaven officials. In fact, they did it after hours so as not to be caught. She never did make payment to them for their costs. But that is up to them to go after her. I gave them a copy of her so-called contract to pursue her. She is horrible. She should be out of business. She made my life a living hell for months because she did not return my calls and kept putting me off. I wish I would have been like the others on this site - I should have taken her to court. I will know better next time. I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH CARLINI BROS or DONATELLI MONUMENTS unless you like to throw good money away. I placed an order for two headstones for my parents back in October 2005. Eighteen months later and two court appearances I have yet to see the monuments or my money back. The owner (TANIS COCHRANE) or her staff always provide a BS excuse or don't even return calls, which is what happens the majority of the time. She didn't even she show up for the latest court appearance. She may own other businesses of the same nature. Make sure you find out who the owner of the business is prior to doing any business with them. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REMEMBER THE NAME ----- TANIS COCHRANE, CARLINI BROS, DONATELLI MONUMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a brick engraved with our house number at Carlini Bros and were very disappointed with the results. First, they said it would be done in 2-3 weeks. After about 30 phone calls we finally got it after 2 months. To be fair, they don't do the engraving there so it's not entirely their fault. However, they claimed it was taking so long because they wanted to make sure they did the right face. Yet when we finally got it back, they had done it UPSIDE DOWN! Some of this might be forgiven but they are also very irritating in that they promise to return phone calls but never do.
