Hello,
My name is Richard and I just recently moved to RI from Michigan.
We were researching animal hospitals for our 3 dogs and 2 cats.
I was told by a mutual client of yours about your establishment, so I took a visit.
As I walked in, I had to wait a few minutes for the desk secretary to acknowledge me, there was nobody here and she just typed away.
I cleared my throat to get her attention and she huffed and looked up and said that I had to wait a minute.
I should have known right there how this was going to go.
She finally acknowledged me and said, " what do you want?" I was shocked that the way she responded to me.
I asked her for her name and sarcastically said Debbie.
I said well Debbie I want to become a client for my pets and I have all of there previous records, what do I have to do to create files for them.
She took the files from my hand and asked if I had my pets with me? I said no. I wanted to start files on them first, and Debbie said I don't know what to do with these papers and furthermore you need to make an appointment to be seen first.
I asked again if I could just start records for them and then I could make an appointment.
She responded back very rude. I don't know why you are giving me these records I told you that you need to make an appointment for them. She kept saying I just don't understand.
I said thank you for your time, I will try another place. She said that's fine.
I left and was thinking about my experience was and it just tells me that if the front end is that rude I can just imagine how rude the rest of the employees are.
I went to Rhode Island animal medical and they welcomed me with open arms. And they understood completely what I was asking for and generously took care of it.

Very professional, very friendly, flexible hours for appointments. Love that it is full service and open ALL of the time! I highly recommend establishing a relationship with this vet hospital.

I needed some more food for my cat. It is prescription food, and I had just noticed it had run out. Usually warwick animal hospital gives me a warning when i need a new prescription, a bag ahead of time. Not this time! It didn't matter that its the week between christmas and new years. They refused to sell me more food until i get another prescription. I explained that I don't have a problem with the requirement, it was just that I'd had no warning and needed more time to get my cat to the vet. That if they sold me one more bag, I'd have a prescription by the next bag. It made no difference. \n\nI will not be going back to that place.

They walked us through all our options and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. Just wanted to say thank you, as it was one of the hardest decisions I have every had to make.

Yes Janice the hospital is very expensive but i have to disagree with you on the staff. The staff is very nice, every one of them I never had a problem with one doctor that works there. The front desk people are great especially the short Spanish girl she is a sweetheart always greets me with a smile, And the Dr.s Assistants are great especially the young man that i always see there, he is so friendly and personable. But i do agree with how they cant keep there doctors cause i had to switch doctors numerous times through the years and i had to switch just recently again cause Dr. Hirsh moved to Georgia, she was wonderful and treated my pets with alot of love. So now i use the new doctor I think his name is Dr. Long.\r\nAs for the new groomer, yes her name is Renee. she is terrible, Not personable and most of all she is very degrading. My pet was a little matted for a couple months and i had to neglect him for a short while due to a sickness, I was in and out of the hospital several times, and when i took him to be groomed the groomer kept asking me how much do i love my dog and then she said "" i guess not that much because you neglected him and thats cruel "" she made me feel like a bad pet owner and also felt like a horrible person i had to hold back my tears as i left him with her.\r\nI will never use that groomer ever again. As for the hospital? i will never take my pet to be medically treated anywhere else. I had to give the Warwick animal hosp. grooming services only one star. If i could i wouldnt even give them one star. As for the medical staff I give 100 stars.

I do not reccomend taking your pet there now. They are very expensive, shop around i guarantee you can get things cheaper and much better care for your pet. They are corporate owned by Vetcor out of Massachusetts which owns over 40 other hospitals across the country. The staff is very rude and obnoxious especially the doctor staff. They tend to lay guilt trips on you to do all kinds of tests even if your pet isn't acting sick. They make you feel like a bad pet owner if you can't afford to do what they want. The hospital manager and chief of staff have problems keeping doctors on staff especially the good ones, then they hire inexperienced doctors to fill positions. They now do grooming this is a real joke ask the rude arrogant groomer (I think her name was Renee) if you could see the grooming area,you will never take your pet there again. Bottom line is that the Warwick animal hospital is only out for the money and they really dont care about us pet owners.\r\n\r\n

Bascially misdiagnosis is what lead to my kitten being put to sleep. She had all the symptoms,of a serious coccidia infection early on in her sickness, and I was told that she did not have it NO TEST were done for coccidia. A test for giardia was done,but came up negative. Even the test results from the lab stated that additional test be run for OTHER protozoa. When I questioned Dr. Weed I was told the no she did not have coccodia, and give it no further attention. I was being pressured into exploratory surgery for a possible obstruction. She was hospitalized in 12/2010 for hemorrahagic diarrhea, and vomiting. At that time a foreighn body was brought up. After three days of meds, and iv fluids, she was sent home. A week later she started witht the same symptoms all over. Vomitin, and loose stools. The meds she was given were no longer working, That is when I did my research on types of illness with the same symptoms she was having. Coccodia was on the top of my list.

My dog was kenneled at WAH for a week when we went on vacation. She came back with almost no voice from barking so much. The only good thing I have to say is they did a very good job with my dog's laser surgery. I have to give them credit for that.

However, overall my experience at WAH is this is a great place if you want to spend a lot of money on your pet and be made to feel like your pet should be taken from you & placed in foster care if you don't do everything they want to do to your animal.

We took our 9 year old dog to the Warwick Animal hospital when she started coughing uncontrollably. They were able to see her right away and scheduled a time to see a specialist with in days. Every time we have gone back since, they remember her name and are excited to see her. We feel like we have found a really great group of people that we trust will care for our pet as much as we do.

Our cat had kidney problems. My wife was very fond of the cat and was very upset over his illness. The staff acted with sensitivity throughout, carefully advising us as to options and costs at each stage. My experience showed the WAH to be good with animals and with people.

I've boarded my German Shepard here a few times before. I like it because they have a really nice grassy, wooded exercise yard which the other places I've look at don't have.
And...
I had to put my dog down this weekend. It was very sudden. I brought her in thinking it might be a flu, but found she was full of cancer and had maybe a few painful days left. I took, am taking, it very hard. Dr. Weed and the staff did everything they could to make everything as easy as possible for me. They were compassionate even though I changed my mind 3 or 4 times about when to put her down they just kept making the time for me.
It was a crappy situation all around, but I have nothing but admiration for the staff and what a difficult job they sometimes have to do. To deal with this day in and day out and still have genuine compassion is amazing.

If your a hospital aren't you supposed to help when a pet is in need. Saying you wont help unless you have $50 up front is ridiculous. Are cat died on the way there when we couldn't get through on the phone. Once we did and they said have the money or no help, we turned around and went back home.

my dog had puppies early in the morning and she was refusing to nurse them. So at like 3am we are running to this hospital to get supplies for the puppies. They were so nice, they helped us get everything we needed and told us exactly what to do. I dont know what we would have done had they not been open to help us. They are wonderful.

We first went to this faciltiy in the 1980's when our local vet (Greenville) could not help our dog with cancerous growths on her back and legs. Our dog is no longer with us, but we have taken the 3 cats we have owned there. Easy to get an appointment, they send out reminder notices and are always pleasant and great with the animals. They care about pets here.
