Eastside Marketplace is truly wonderful. I feel great shopping here in this relaxing grocery. I know it sounds nuts but this is upscale grocery shopping. It is a Whole Foods type grocery but it not a chain so they are just better because their focus is on just this location!

it's right around the corner from whole foods so i feel kind of funny praising eastside's selection of organic and local products, but they do have a great selection, and as good as the whole foods chain is, sometimes it is nice to support a local business. i go to eastside to get my groceries - they advertise that organic products don't cost any more than regular, which is true and so nice because it makes healthy choices more affordable. i take the ripta trolly back to campus; it stops right in front of the grocery store. i also hear that they have student discounts on wednesdays!

Pros: selection, organic and local produce

Cons: not as cheap as shaws

Everything you can think of in a wonderful, pleasing atmosphere. Great snack area where you can eat your take out or have a leisurely meal. Great bakery and wonderful breads.

The Eastside Marketplace was once the site of an IGA grocery store. It is conveniently located near neighboring Brown University college students and upper middle class families alike. This store offers a host of fresh produce, bakery items, and other general grocery items bagged in nicely designed plastic bags or paper bags with handles. Adding to its appeal is an in-store post office with the same amenities as any other US post office including mailboxes. Customers can expect to find what they came for and to be checked out quickly. It's worth the trip if you want to pay a few extra dollars for quality goods and services.

PROS: The store is always kept clean
CONS: You'll pay a few more cents for items you can find elsewhere for less.

Eastside Marketplace is Dean & Deluca's without the snob factor, set in a Providence parking lot. Sound odd? It won't once you're feasting on a rotisserie chicken painted with lemon and pepper for $7.99, or ogling the sushi chefs as they…
