If I were a pet owner that goes to Dr Langford, I would go some where else for a second opinion. I stayed there since I used to see Dr. Clarke and she worked for him. It was convenient and good pricing. Well my dog's health is more important than saving money. My dog went for pre-op blood work and she called me personally and told me all the blood work was normal. So I went ahead with the procedure. Everything turned out fine but there was no follow up appt and my dog was acting strangely afterwards so I took him for a second opinion. They told me they obtained his pre-op labs and they were not normal and he has signs of kidney disease. His next appt would be in a year. No follow up for abnormal blood work? Also in the medical chart it stated she notified me and recommended to follow a kidney diet, which was NEVER discussed with me. She probably added that in before faxing records to my new vet. I'm so glad I went for the second opinion. He is now on a special kidney diet and fluid therapy to get his labs under control since he has been very ill.

The staff is kind here. However, there is always a long wait (usually 1/2 hour to an hour), and the doctor has handled my animals too roughly. They also try to get you to pay more than is necessary. based on my experiences, I definitely would NOT recommend this place to people with cats, small dogs, or older animals, due to the rough physical handling.

I was so disappointed to hear that a friend of mine (who is not familiar with animal care) say that he was treated with complete disrespect at this clinic. My friend found a stray kitten outside his apartment building. This cat was very sick and appeared to have mange. He didn't know what else to do but bring it to an animal clinic. He had no transportation, no money, but wanted to do the right thing, so he walked the cat in his coat from his house to the clinic, simply not knowing what else to do. He brought the cat in only to be scolded by the supervisor on duty. She said, "We're not an animal shelter. What are we supposed to do with the cat if you have no money?!" She ended up having him sign a paper saying "you give us permission to treat the cat or put it down as we see fit." The least she could have done was direct him to a shelter where they can treat the animal whether my friend had money or not. Shame on this clinic for hiring such rude, unprofessional and morally bankrupt staff members. I am appalled that anyone could treat someone this way, especially if he or she is just trying to do the right thing with a helpless kitten.

I like the clinic. It's in a good location and the waiting room is comfortable. The prices are good. When my cat was neutered they were very nice. I brought my cat back for his annual check-up and he had lost 3 pounds on the diet the vet recommended. He is no longer overweight.

Casey S. what did you do for the ear infections? My dog has cronic ones and they say its yeast and E-coli. It seems never to get better, any ideas? They keep giving her antibotics which aren't helping.

I previously had a cat, who I brought to the Pawtucket Animal Clinic. After my cat passed on, I decided to get a dog. Needless to say, I figured I would stay with the same clinic, turned out to be a VERY poor decision on my part. First, my dog recieved bad ear infections, to which they never took swab samples until she was 3 yrs old, they just assumed she had a yeast infection causing the ear infection. Once the swab test was finally done, they told me she had an ecoli infection and proceeded to tell me when I asked how she had that infection and I quote "It's because ur dog plays in her own feces and scratches her ears with it." Which is incredible not true because my dog is extremely clean, an indoor dog, and doesnt go outside unsupervised. Then my dog keep getting "UTI's" finally after the third time within 3 mths. coming in because of the bleeding I requested MYSELF maybe she should get an X-Ray, to which they don't have. They told me to wait a week and go to another vet to get an X-Ray. My gut told me not to, that night I went to the emergency animal hospital, she got an X-Ray and had to have emergency surgery for kidney stones. They told me if I had waited the week my dog would've died. The last straw was when I called to make an appt. a month later for a check-up...they said to come in 3 days. When they hadn't called to remind me of the appt. I called to make sure of the time..the lady who answered said "Oh, we're closed down, your dog's files are at Gansett Animal Hospital" Why would they make an appt. knowing in 3 days they were going to be closed down. That is ridiculous! Needless to say, I am now at Gansett Animal Hospital and am EXTREMELY glad. They are very nice and know their information about animals.Oh and my dog's ear infections...mmm...yeah wasn't ecoli..it was allergies...her ears are finally cleared. Sad to know my dog was put on meds (for yeast, ecoli and UTI infection she never had) for no reason. And It's sad on my part for putting up with it for so long.

I am very upset that Pawtucket Animal Clinic closed so abruptly with no notification. I've been going there for nearly 15 years!!! The least they could have done was to have the decency to send out a letter advising us that they were closing down and how to obtain your pet's medical records. I just contacted Gansett Animal Clinic today (434-2751) and they advised me that they DO NOT have Pawtucket Animal Clinic??s records. I was told that I had to a mail a $10.00 check to P.O. Box 2545, Providence, RI 02906, made payable to Sharon Clarke to get my pet??s medical records. Totally absurd!!!

I also was disappointed to find that Sharon Clarke had abruptly shut down the practise. I mailed my $10 check but it has not been cashed and I don't have any records.
I am glad that Dr Langford has reopened the practice, under a new naem.

The clinic reopened Aug 1 under new management as Vet Services of Pawtucket, new phone 722-8767. The female vet, Dr. Jeanne Langford, who was there before is now the owner and I am delighted because she is such a caring and affable person. I took my dog there yesterday. Apparently Dr. John Clark, the vet who owned it, died in an untimely manner last June. His wife kept the records (though a previous writer on this list noted that the veterinary records have been transferred to Gansett Animal Hospital (434-2571) and are now available.) I confess to a moment of panic when I called for an appointment and heard the disconnection message but I called directory assistance and got the new number. I was lucky my dog was not ill during the two months that it was closed.

It's irresponsible and rude to just close a veterinary clinic without informing your customers. I didn't find out until I showed up for an appointment, I didn't get a call or anything in the mail. Unbelievable

Pawtucket Animal Clinic is closed. I contacted Gansett Animal Clinic this morning and was told the only way to get my dog's records was to send a $10 check to Sharon Clarke (former owner) and she will mail them to you. I think this is outrageous!! She will make thousands of dollars, free and clear of taxes. Is this not extortion? The clinic closed without contacting clients or providing them with an opportunity to receive records. I think I will contact the attorney general's office!!

By now, I guess most people know the clinic is closed. The veterinary records have been transferred to Gansett Animal Hospital (434-2571). I contacted Gansett this morning and they called back in the afternoon to let me know they had located the records and I can pick them up anytime. I am very disappointed that the clinic closed and so abruptly. One of my dogs is on medication and the other had surgery in June. The owner should have given advanced notice to her clients that she was closing. In the meantime, I have found another vet clinic.

When I went there today 6/27/09 there was a note on the door that stated that it was CLOSED!. and that for any emergency contact the Ocean State Vet. I cant believe that this facility closed down and didn't leave any info either on the phone or posted on the door regarding obtaining our pets medical records. Needless to say what are we to do in this case... No RECORDS Available what about the poor animals that have serious health issues and have to establish care elsewhere. I am not only disappointed in them but very UPSET!!If someone form the clinic reads this post PLEASE PLEASE at least leave a message on the door or the answering machine on how we can obtain our beloved pets medical records. It Is the moral thing to do, If you really cared about the animals that went to your facility...

Only clinic in state that doesn't let a rescue group pay a client's bill for them! Large animal rescue group in RI offered to pay a special needs client's bill for her dog and they rudely refused. "We don't do that." Short on compassion and short on care.

One of the workers has definitely given me a negative impression of this facility. She was rude and very condescending. I'm not an expert on certain issues pertaining to animals. She basically yelled across the room putting her two cents in about an issue I was discussing with another worker there. She acted as though I was an idiot. She may have been a vet. She was a brunette that had glasses with an up do hair style. This woman made herself look very unattractive and, obviously she needs some social skills. She should treat people with respect no matter what their age is.

I took my cat to the vet because she had blood in her feces. They took a stool sample and checked her out. The next day they called and told me they did not find any evidence of blood or any evidence of parasites. For the past month she's had some blood in her feces with more and more signs of worms. Tonight she went to the bathroom and tons of worms just crawled out and were everywhere. This makes me question if they actually conducted any tests with the stool sample I brought in or if they mixed up results. Needless to say, I'm not very happy and I'm sure my kitty isn't either.

Pawtucket Animal Hospital has a great staff, and is very inexpensive, but they don't even have an X-ray machine. This makes it a little tricky if your animal is in really bad shape- in which case I would recommend Ocean State Vet, which is open 24-7, has all the bells and whistles, and costs an arm & a leg.
But for ordinary care, shots, advice, non-life-threatening situations, definitely Pawt. Animal Clinic is the best.

I did alot of research on Vets before I decided on one for my new puppy. I had heard great things about Pawtucket Animal Hospital and so far I have been very pleased. The staff is amazing and so friendly. The vet took a lot of time with me and my new puppy (even though I was the last appointment before they closed). She showed me tips on making him behave and how to keep him well groomed in between his grooming visits. My puppy has only been there twice but they already know him and he loves going there! And to top it all off they are so reasonably priced!!!

We have an 11 month old lab who is a "frequent flyer" at the vet. We decided to try the Clinic after a friend recommended them. The staff is always very friendly, has immediate appointments available and are great with our dog! We recently had to take him for an emergency visit when he had an allergic reaction-- they got us right in and were exceptional with the care they provided. Just to mention as well, they are very affordable and Dr. Clarke is the best!!!

PROS: The affordability, friendly and knowledgeable staff
CONS: No fancy waiting room, basic pet rooms
