I actually adored this store as soon as it opened. It was beautiful and spacious and downright wonderful. Of course, Shaws in that area has always been expensive, but having the card does make a decent amount at checkout.
Along with the person who reviewed before me, I too have experienced negativity for the employees AND management from that store. My niece worked there in October, it was her first job. So I decided to frequent the store. Just walking around, the stockers were disrespectful children who didn't think twice of trying to get you out of their hair. Some of the cashiers are nice, actually most of them are. Very friendly. But their managers and the floor managers have the worse attitudes. Especially over at costumer service. But the thing is, only in the evening is when you get the bad service, morning time, I am talking opening hours to about noon, is when the service is nice. Later people are just disrespectful, attitude-filled people. The managers, grown adults, don't make it any better.
My niece had reason to miss some days at work due to personal reasons, Shaw's management did not care. They would scold and warn her sternly that she should have known her schedule. My niece did what she had to do to notify those people and they obviously have terrible communication skills because one manager knew her situation, and the other manager didn't.
Especially that main front end manager, he seems as though he does not take pride in his job as he always has a frown upon his face and is constantly yelling and badgering the employees. When you ask for help, he is no different as he tries to continue what he is doing and does not want to be bothered.
Two stars for the look and improvement from the last location next door, and for the cashiers who are as helpful as they can. Management, stock and service desks? later shift people need to be changed. I would not recommend to work or shop there.

    Pros: The look, the cashiers

Cons: Pricing, Management, Stockers, Costumer Service

This review is based on an experience several months ago. As a result of what happened I have never set foot in that store since, nor will I ever.

On the first of the month I went in early to get groceries. I went up by the meat department and one of their employees (I could tell by his white butcher's coat and name tag) was saying to another fellow "Oh **** it's the first of the month and now we have to deal with all those **** welfare people!"

I was a welfare person, being out of work and drawing food stamp benefits. Here was a store employee saying that, to him, my business wasn't welcomed at Shaw's.

I walked out on the spot, leaving my cart where it was. Since then I've gone to Stop & Shop, Price-Rite and nearly everything else, but never Shaw's.

"But why didn't you speak to management?" I can hear you ask.
That was the first thing I did when I returned home. I called the store manager and told him what happened and said that perhaps his employees needed to brush up on their people skills. Believe it or not, he didn't even have the grace to apologize. He did thank me for having called - for whatever that's worth!

But if being poor makes me less of a person - if it makes me someone Shaw's employees don't care to deal with - then I surely won't buy anything from them in future.

But I can and will tell anyone who has an interest how I was embarrassed that day by what I overheard and how certain I am that store management hasn't an interest in retaining the goodwill of ALL its customer base.

If I could give you MINUS five stars, Shaw's, by the Lord I would!!!
