We chose this hotel because of the discount given for MUSC patients and family. This location was great and having a breakfast before going to the hospital all day was a big plus. We will be coming back several times for the above reason.

The hotel was clean, quiet and they served nice breakfast. The staff was helpful. They contacted a driver to take us by shuttle to the Visitors Center for our trip to Magnolia Farms We would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

I was visiting the Medical University (MUSC) for tests. I was very appreciative of the ""service"" that I recieved. You are building goodwill that will be shared with friends and others Thanks!

All hotel personnel were great and friendly, especially the food service employee (continental breakfast). She always greeted and had conversations with you. She remembered people from a previous day/meeting/conversation. She's an asset to your hotel.

We cannot recommend for many reasons, but it does have three somewhat redeeming qualities: the bed was surprisingly comfortable (we are especially sensitive on this issue) and the lighting for reading in bed was better than even most 4-star hotels we've stayed in. And it IS reasonable compared to other fairly-close-in hotels. Confirming what others have said, the 6th floor rooms (where we stayed) may well have been the best maintained floor in the hotel.

The elevators...well, I haven't experienced such poor ones since visiting the old Soviet Union in 1966. (I suspect both the elevators and the hotel date from the 1970s, and it shows.) The waits were often several minutes. We don't mind walking down, but UP 6 floors was out of the question!

The hallways and the elevator are NOT air conditioned. In HOT and HUMID Charleston, that was miserable, especially if you are carrying or even just rolling your bags. It gets HOT waiting interminably for the elevator to arrive at your floor; it's stifling to then ride up with 6-8 other HOT people!

Breakfast is 6am to 9am, and seating is very limited for the number of guests. In a tourist destination, it needs to be extended to 10am. We saw several come late and miss it. Waffles good; pastries/bagels/bread mediocre. Coffee was pretty good. Juice ok, almost no fruit.

Ice machine?ONE for the whole hotel?!

Pix & description online are misleading. Historic District is an $8 cab-ride away, or an equal amount in parking (we did both). Guests who were not tourists were probably using/visiting the large hospital & medical complex. Parking is very limited & probably not sufficient (we were lucky).

The hotel picture was taken from the rear and doesn't look at all like this from the street--it is very shot-gun between two other buildings and we drove by the sign the first time, it is so hidden. The front door is NOT marked and so awkward that we missed it the first time, thinking it was a service entrance and we drove around the whole building looking for the entry!

The tub was highlighted by mold much of its length. Lots of pillows, all mediocre. The coffee packet in the room was broken and spilled when the wrapper was removed.

Bath towels were extremely thin and, for our second night, we were given only one set for two people. Yes, we went to reception for more; two clerks were talking and felt it necessary to finish before acknowledging my presence (probably 3 minutes, one of them looking at me often).

When I reviewed the bill AFTER leaving, I discovered we PAID a new (to us) hidden fee: ??SAFE CHARGE $1.50?! Talk about nickel & diming your customer! We will return to Charleston, but there is no way we??ll ever set foot in this hotel again, no matter how ??reasonable? the cost! Visited June 2010

We booked a room for $69 a night through an internet special. Upon arrival, there was no parking spaces left in the hotel parking lot. Check in was slow. Hotel carpet was stained, worn and in need of replacement. Our room was clean, but very worn. Hotel was not soundproof. Bed was uncomfortable. Sheets were VERY thin and blanket had holes. Requested a wake up call at 7:00am and it came in at 7:15am. Tried to get drinks from vending machines on several floors. None of them worked. Reserved a ""riverview"" room. The river was viewed by looking across the hotel parking lot , I-26 and a busy overpass. We did enjoy the free breakfast that was included. It was an extensive self serve spread! Checked out, but never asked about the quality of our stay. Charged .75 cents for a local call that we did not make.

Pros: Great breakfast!
