Reviews for Sam's Club

Ratings_icons Good for club prices, if they have what you want.

Sam's is the warehouse sister-store to Walmart. Knowing that, you can imagine what types of items they sell. Yes, you need a club membership to shop here, and that will cost you a minimum of $35 for the year. If you know someone who is ready to re-new their membership, that person can refer you as a new member and you'll both get a $10 store credit. You can also get into the store with a one-day pass, however, you can only browse and cannot purchase items at their advertised prices. Nearly all of the items are sold in bulk quantities, so if you only need one bottle of ketchup you're out of luck. However, if you can store 3 or more bottles of ketchup, changes are you'll be getting a good price for buying the larger quanities. One of the best features is the bakery section. They have so many breads and cakes your mouth will water the rest of your shopping trip. They also have a wonderful selection of pre-made entrees and hourdourves for parties and special occasions. Holiday items are particularly appealing. Prices are usually below what you'll find in regular grocery stores. Outdoor/indoor furniture is limited, but certainly a buy if they have what you want. Their electronics and major appliances are also a good buy, but their inventory goes quickly. If you're a member, you are allowed to bring in guests. Part of the savings comes from the fact that you must either bring you own bags or carry your items out in hand. Free boxes are available, if you don't mind holes on the sides or cut-out sections. Their clothing selection is very good with many name-brand items, but don't bother looking for petites. The other disadvantage at this particular store is that free sample snacks are very, very limited. They also do not typically carry salt-free, reduced fat, or low-sugar versions of food items. All in all, this is a good option if you can store larger quanities of items.

PROS: Low prices and great selection for party planning
CONS: Special diet foods not available
