.

This center was recommended by a social worker friend. She referred me to the the Battered Women's Group, but I had to go there first for the initial paperwork so that the sessions would be free.
I was intereviewed by a young woman who gave me a stack of papers, some of them with a signature line at the bottom but the form was not filled in. When I started to sign my name to the form, then realized it had blank spaces such as "diagnosis" and other things, I crossed my name out. She questioned me as to why I did that. I informed her that there were blank spaces and I don't sign a blank form. Her reply was, "Well, you will HAVE to sign it sometime." I assured her I would once she filled it out properly. She did not like that and stopped the interview.
She did refer me to the Battered Women's Group in a church locally. The leader said the first night, to the 3 new older women (including me), "If you are here looking for a husband, you've come to the wrong place." I told him I did not appreciate that remark. He thought it was funny. When you've just gotten out of an abusive relationship, that is not funny. He said he'd been running the group for 7 years. Evidently, the other women didn't mind his "sense of humor". I didn't return to the group. I
In high school "Business Law" I learned never to sign a blank form and still hold to that view!
In Greenville, I found a group led by a woman that was more suited to my needs.
Later, I wrote a letter to the Director who sided with the young, inexperienced intake worker. He did say they had some personnel changes since I'd visited his office I would not recommend this business.

PROS: none
