Our dog was treated by three vets before we were referred to Upstate Veterinary Specialists. He had a soft tissue tumor that threatened his lower jaw then subsequently developed an auto immune disease and complications from treatment with steroids. My husband and I were torn between putting him through the additional surgery which would have removed a portion of his lower jaw and putting him to sleep. Luckily we found Dr. Jeavon's at Upstate who worked with our local vet to treat our pet through the long steroid withdrawal and then discovered that the surgery previously performed (not at Upstate!) had left him with an infection. Dr. Jeavon's removed two canines and saved both the dog and his lower jaw.

We will never be able to thank Dr. Jeavon's and his caring crew for helping our dog back to a healthy life.

I have had the unfortunate experience of having to take my precious Kitty to Upstate Vet; it is always trauma when your fur-baby is ill, but the veterinarians and staff could not be nicer! They truly care about animals and about the people who love them. My beloved kitty developed cancer - Vaccine Associated Sarcoma, and while this has been one of the worst experiences of my life, they have treated her like a queen! Everybody has been so great through all the trauma, willing to answer my questions and explain each procedure. She has an oncologist and a surgeon, and even with their busy schedules they always have a few moments to spend with her and check her out. They are expensive, but worth every penny for me and my furry family members!

My wife and I are veterinarians but Roy suddenly developed a bad spinal disc and was losing loss of his legs...minutes mattered or he would have permanent damage or have to be euthanized AND it was a SUNDAY morning. To identify where to operate, a CAT SCAN is essential and Upstate is one of the few places that has one. We called, were met on Sunday, he had his surgery and now he is fine. The caring and competency are exceptional, we have always referred complex cases to them and have never had regrets!

If you have a pet who needs serious orthopedic type surgery or treatment for cancer, Upstate Vet Specialists is the place to go. The veterinary surgeons and the techs there are awesome! They comfort your pet and they'll give you piece of mind. They may not be the cheapest in town, but they're the best and they're worth it. You get what you pay for - all too often, the cheap turns out expensive. I had a pup whose leg was broken just above the knee. She had surgery to fix her leg, by inserting a metal pin to hold the bones. Then there was a second surgery to remove the pin. They exceeded my expectations and I would recommend them to anyone needing serious medical treatment for their precious pet.
