Terrible!!
I asked to do a reduced vaccine schedule. I wanted only one shot and specifically NOT Rabies until she was older. Before I even knew what was happening the vet whisks in, nonstop talking, and gives my pup several shots INCLUDING Rabies!!!
Then they had the NERVE to schedule an appointment for my pup to be spayed the very next month when I said I wanted to wait till closer to two years old! My pup's only three months old!
$178 for a visit where I wanted ONE shot!!!
Absolutely no acknowledgement of my disdain. They ignored and dismissed everything I said.

Business Response:

Angela - Thank you for your input about your visit to Bees Ferry Veterinary Hospital. What happened was unfortunate. We really strive to customize vaccine schedules to individual pets. We do not have a "set" vaccine schedule, but rather take into account individual animals risk exposure. Many pets do not even receive vaccines - for example if they are elderly, ill, or the owners choose to run titers on them instead of vaccinating. Over-vaccination is something that we really strive to avoid. In your case, it appears that your wishes were not taken into account, and for this we truly apologize. The veterinarian who saw your pet is no longer with us, and we will constantly strive to improve so that we can reach our goal of healthy happy pets. Best regards, Bees Ferry Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Holley Cone is by far, the most unprofessional and condescending veterinarian I have ever been to. Her attitude portrays a person who could care less about the satisfaction or opinion of the paying customer, and even perhaps thinks that they owe her gratitude for her being so darn smart. Don't be duped by her credentials, you will receive far better customer service from any of the other doctors at this facility.

Business Response:

"We are sorry you feel this way about Dr Holley Cone. Like people, veterinarians have different personalities and some may clash with others. Dr. Cone is a very qualified doctor with 18 years experience practicing veterinary medicine. She is accredited by the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy Veterinary Acupuncture and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She has many clients that speak very highly of her, as you can see by others who have reviewed her. But she might not be the right vet for you. We encourage you to talk to some of our other doctors, as we are confident we can provide your pet with the best healthcare in Charleston."

Dr. Cone is simply the BEST! When my dog recently had an ailment, Dr. Cone came in to the clinic on her day off to examine him. She's able to diagnose and treat animals using both Western medicine and progressive Traditional Chinese Medicine. My dog has responded amazingly to her treatment!

She spent over 30 minutes following up with me on the phone with detailed information and instructions to make sure I understood the regimen.

Some people think that Bees Ferry is overpriced. You definitely get what you pay for at other places. Seriously, Dr. Cone is worth EVERY PENNY!

My puppy was very sick and I took him to Bees Ferry Vet and spent THOUSANDS of $s there. He always had diarrhea. They kept telling me it was giardia, and putting him on antibiotics. They recommended a food that made him by far the sickest. brought him back with a new stool sample, which was liquid and they told me he didn't have diarrhea! WHAT?!?!
You never get the same vet, the place is like a factory. I spent tons of money there, and no one even took the time to learn mine or my dogs name.
They also pressured me to have my dog neutered early, and because of this he developed Pano. So back to Bees Ferry to spend more money on x-rays!
I got so ticked off and took him to another vet in the area who looked at me and said "I think he has a sensitive stomach." That would have been nice to 2 thousand dollars ago. Dog has been fine on new food.
THERE ARE FAR BETTER VETS IN CHARLESTON to take your pet to.

We're sorry that you were not satisfied with the care we provided for your puppy. We wish we could have addressed these issues at the time, but you didn't give us the details of your visit, like the name of your puppy or the doctor. When it comes to the medical care and diagnostic testing, we strive to practice quality medicine and are certified by the American Animal Hospital Association, a trusted sign of excellence in veterinary medicine that requires strict adherence to standards of quality pet care. I am most upset by your comments about not knowing your names. Individualized care is our mission. We have implemented techniques to make sure that pets see the same veterinarian on repeated visits unless the owner's schedule doesn't allow for this. Diarrhea typically requires a battery of tests to render a complete diagnosis. If there was a question of the treatment prescribed, we wish we could have had the opportunity to address this. There could have been more serious factors that lead to your puppy's continued illness. We always suggest neutering puppies at about 4 months of age. There are no studies to substantiate your comment about early neutering causing panosteitis.

Even though they're not the closest location, nor the least expensive, the care and quality of service is without equal. I appreciate the evening hours, the professional staff, and the entire experience. They also offer alternative health options, and provide/offer treatment in the best interest of the pet. I have used Bees Ferry consistently for my pets' care since they opened in the mid 90s and would recommend them without reservation to provide the best care on the SC coast.
