I have tried numerous boarding facilities on Hilton Head Island and throughout the country. I am so happy that I finally found Jonathan and his staff at Evergreen. The piece of mind knowing all my animals are being loved and cared for like being at home is priceless.

Evergreen is such a great facility with a very friendly, knowledgeable, and loving staff. They have always precisely followed any specific attention, medical, or feeding instructions that was requested by my veterinarian. They consistently go over and beyond to care for my babies. They have always contacted me if there were any questions or concerns. All my cats and dogs have always enjoyed their stay.

For years I have worked along with major vacation rental companies on the island. Many of guests ask me about the best restaurants, beaches, and all of the local inside info. In these conversations our pets seems to always come up. It is common that these guests board their pets prior to visiting the island because they are not allowed to have them at their rental property. They miss them when they see all the animals playing on the beach and find out how dog friendly the island is. I have suggested to numerous guests that they should try bringing pets with them on vacation next time. This gives them the opportunity to be able enjoy the island with their animals. I have had so much positive feedback that some of the rental companies are now promoting Evergreen to insure that the guests optimize there experience on the island.

My husband and I recently vacationed in Hilton Head. As we have only had our 4 month old shih-tzu puppy (Beau) for 2 months we wanted to take him with us. Our resort did not allow pets so I had selected a particular boarding establishment on line. They had an after hours drop off site and I was assured the puppy would be moved to the regular boarding area as long as he was there by 8:00 p.m. We were told we could pick him up during the week to spend time with him but would not see him on Sunday. To make a long story short - it was a less than ideal place for a young puppy and he was not moved Saturday night. He was absolutely terrified of the large barking dogs and his short legs could not reach the secured water and food bowls in the run.

We were blessed to find that Evergreen was open Sunday morning and the staff gladly gave us a tour of the facility and had an "room" opening for Beau. We were able to retrieve him from the hold area (he was still there after 9 a.m. on Sunday!) and we checked him in at Evergreen that morning. The staff there is so caring and compassionate. They even replied quickly to our email Monday morning to tell us how he had done. His little puppy room was beautiful and seemed so much like home - except we don't have a bed like that at home for him :)
We were able to get him during the week to take him on our bike rides, to the beach, around to area businesses and to the Chaplin Park Dog Park. The staff welcomed us as 'family' and made what started out as a traumatic week a vacation to remember (in a good way!)
I highly recommend Evergreen to anyone traveling in the Hilton Head area that has a pet to be boarded!

We are visitors to Hilton Head and wanted to find a safe place for our wheaten terrier to enjoy a day of doggie daycare. We found Evergreen on the internet and read all the reviews...
We stopped by a couple of days before leaving him and found a great staff of caring dog lovers. We wanted him groomed while we were gone for the day,so had a chance to meet with the groomer..and warned her about our Kujo boy on the table. We talked with the front desk staff about leaving him for a day and felt very, very comfortable with all of them
Today, we dropped him at 8:30 and picked him up around 5pm...A very happy and beautifully groomed boy strutted out from in back... looking great and having had a great day.
What a wonderful feeling.. So,thanks to all of you!!! we will sing your praises to all our traveling friends...

I was very upset by the review written regarding the elderly dog named Jake. I have been in the situation (of losing an elder dog) a few times and it is never easy. They also each had medical issues in their older years. Only one of them, Bugsy, was "fortunate" enough to have been able to stay at Evergreen Pet Lodge before she passed and I have no doubt she was well taken care of. My husband & I travel to Hilton Head every April and were real apprehensive about leaving our older pet, Bugsy, and our 2 young Yorkies there (when we first got them 4 years ago). It was the best thing we ever did. We travel from Ohio and decided that we would rather have them close by than 600 miles away. We feel so blessed that we found a place for them to stay while we are vacationing in HH. It is great that we are able to go visit them & even take them out for an hour or so to the beach and/or dog park. We do not have children and these two Yorkies are our babies and we would be sick if anything happened to them so we are very careful where we leave them (and we seldom do) but they can count on being at Evergreen at least once a year. All employees that we have dealt with there have been very friendly and all seem very compassionate. I would think one would have to have a great love for animals to work someplace like this. I know it must have had to have been with a heavy heart for Jonathan to have to respond to the claims of the one reviewer. I am so sorry for Jake's family's loss and hope that time has eased their pain & heartbreak.
This year we will also be vacationing in Myrtle Beach for a week in September and I am sick just worrying about trying to find a place there to board our dogs that will live up to the Evergreen Pet Lodge.
This is by far a wonderful place to board your pets and the updating/addition of the newer luxury suites a few years ago was another sign to me that the business must be growing as they continue to have many happy clients (2-legged & 4-legged).
Divot & Bella look forward to seeing everyone there in April, and we do, too!

The management and staff at Evergreen are kind, caring, and compassionate people. My beloved yellow lab, "Daisy" enjoyed years of very happy times at Evergreen and always returned home in great shape. "Daisy" suffered bone cancer at age 12 and spent 8 days at Evergreen shortly before her death. While there she had to be given numerous Rx drugs, fed special home cooked, portioned meals and given much love and individual attention. I received detailed daily reports, and when she came home, she was walking better than when I left her there. "Daisy" went on to Rainbow Bridge a month later and beautiful flowers with a very special card were sent to me from Jonathon and the staff at Evergreen. Kind, caring and compassionate - that's what Evergreen is all about.

The management and entire staff at Evergreen showed great affection and wonderful care to my beloved yellow lab, "Daisy", not only through her young, playful years, but also through her senior adult life. "Daisy" was stricken with bone cancer at age 12 and I can't begin to describe the excellent care that was afforded her, (including detailed administering of medications, special diet and an abundance of individual attention and love.) I received daily reports while I was away and could trust that "Daisy" was being cared for just as well as if she had been at home. When I picked her up after being away for 8 days, she was in very good shape considering her cancer; in fact she walked better than she did when I left her there.
"Daisy'" is pain free now and running like a puppy again at "Rainbow's Bridge". Thank you Evergreen Pet Lodge for always being "Daisy's" home away from home.

Two weeks ago, my mom took our 14-year-old dog to board in a ??luxury suite? at Evergreen for what she anticipated would be a 10-day stay while she visited my brother and I in California. Now our much loved boy is gone and we desperately wish we could turn back the clock and NOT TAKE HIM TO EVERGREEN as I am confident he would still be alive if we had not taken him there. Although Jake was not in perfect health, he certainly was not near death when my mom dropped him off at Evergreen; he hopped out of the car on his own when my mom arrived there. Fast forward to 6 days later: My mom cuts her trip short, we take a red eye back to HHI and head directly to the vet??s office where Jake is laying in the corner of an exam room extremely underweight (it looked as though he lost 10 lbs over the course of the week), with multiple open wounds (horrible bed sores) and is unable to walk on his own. I cringe to think that Jake may have spent his final hours in that very spot had I not been able to fly back with my mom and help her get him home. That evening, one of the wonderful vets came to our house and put Jake to sleep as it was clear ??that moment? had come when it would be selfish to keep Jake here with us.

I will assume that Evergreen did not intentionally neglect Jake but it was quite evident to me that he did not receive the care he needed and should have received while boarding at Evergreen and I am well aware of the type of care dogs should receive while boarding at a place such as Evergreen considering I worked at a cage free daycare and boarding facility for over a year in California. No dog EVER would have left our facility in the condition Jake was in by the time Evergreen finally got around to contacting my mom and taking him to the vet??s office. Jonathan has provided plenty of excuses ranging from Jake being ??too old to handle it? (then why on Earth did they agree to board him in the first place?), Evergreen doesn??t contact owners about ??every little thing,? to the fact that Jonathan was not at Evergreen on Wednesday and, therefore, he called my mom when he arrived Thursday morning. We will never know exactly what happened but, according to Evergreen, Jake was ??resistant to going out? on Tuesday which would certainly lead one to believe that Jake lay in his room immobile, peeing and pooping on himself and developing bed sores for close to 2 days. With the vet??s office next door to Evergreen, I will never understand why Jake was not taken to the vet and my mother not contacted sooner.

We will never be able to turn back the clock and get Jake back but, hopefully, sharing our painful story will prevent someone else from making the same mistake we did. If you are thinking about boarding your senior dog at Evergreen, please hire a pet sitter instead! (I believe you can find pet sitters at PetPals HHI.)

*** I suppose this should come as no surprise but, over the past few days when my mom has shared what happened to Jake with other people, she has been told a number of stories about other pet owners having bad boarding experiences at Evergreen. It is unfortunate (to say the least) that we didn't hear these stories two weeks ago. I have suggested that she encourage people to post reviews about their experiences so, hopefully, at least a couple of them will do so. Again, please consider a pet sitter over boarding!! (Critter Sitters is another place I came across where I believe you can find pet sitters on HHI.)

I was so afraid to leave my 5month old baby yorkie, but I had to, so I found Evergreen Pet Lodge and stayed outside and asked people about it as they came out. All had great things to say. Then I went in and asked for a tour. It was so cute and clean and everyone was so friendly. I left my baby for 4 nights but I was also allowed to pick her up during the day and take her out to play and love and bring her back at night..it is the best place for your pet...they won't come out all nervous but just happy because of the calm staff. A++ for a wonderful experience. I will use no other when I am at Hilton Head Island. Many puppy kisses from Lucy!!!!

I have three dogs and was recently delayed a week picking them up from Evergreen due to a death in my family. Although I had used Evergreen before and was comfortable with their cleanliness and care they really went above and beyond to assure me that my "kids" would be taken care of and need not be a concern to me at that point. They took extra time to call and give me updates so that I would not be worried and even threw in a complimentary bath and a late pick up for me. I will never use anyone else.

This place is a vacation for your pets. The staff is very caring and spend individual time with your pet each day. You can take your pets special toys or bed and multiple pets can stay together in the same room.
