Just left from the Pink Dipper. One word of advice - if the owners are there, LEAVE and go back when they are not. First, they do not greet you when you enter their establishment. Second, they skimp on the ice cream scoops. I paid for FOUR scoops of ice cream but it looks as if I only received TWO! With these people, who you are is what drives the service. If they know you, you are treated well and if they don't - well you can read the other negative reviews about that. I, for one, am done with this place & will spend the extra money to buy from Brusters!
Family has been coming here for 30+ years and decided to have daughter's 4th birthday party there. Excited to have party due to owners handling all aspects; i.e. cake, ice cream, drinks, games, favors. Disappointment is no where near how we are feeling now after having the party. We had the "party room" reserved for one hour, which should have been ample time to handle everything in a smooth efficient way...after all, they have been doing this for 40 some years (as was dictated to me upon complaining about the following happenings during the party). The female owner was very short and rude with the kids and adults, not giving much time to even think of an answer to the questions that were presented. She also chose to dump my daughter's presents out of their gift bags onto the table, only to snatch them right from her hands before my daughter could even enjoy them. The remaining sections of cake were dropped, scooped back onto the tray, then handed to us with a simple and non-promising "sorry". The cake looked like a bird attacked it. What a great party. I proceeded to call both owners over, after all of our guests uncomfortably left, to voice my concern over how the party was handled. The male owner got frustrated that I had concerns over my daughter's pleasure with her own party and stormed out of the room, adding a slammed office door when I stepped back into the main lobby to leave. Great way to handle it guy. The female owner kept telling me this is how they've done it for 40 years. Really? I hate other people had to experience their lack of customer service, ESPECIALLY for services not rendered yet prepaid for. Cherry on the top? Pardon the horrible pun...cherry on top was an additional charge of $38 that we were not told about or enlightened with prior for the adults that had a drink or ice cream. No breakdown or explanantion but they were sure in a hurry to get our money. HORRIBLE experience with them. No way we are returning there...even if ice cream were the only thing left to save the world and the Pink Dipper was the only supplier. I hope many read this and take precautions when dealing with these rude individuals. There was no remorse from them for any of our inward feelings of displeasure, outwardly displayed with considerable concern.
The Pink Dipper is just the best place to have ice cream. They still have the old fashioned metal heart chairs, the bar stools and the original home town feel. It truly is awesome. The coke floats are just like the old days...Also the bubblegum ice cream is simply scrumptious!!
