The food is awesome. They have a great tuna tartare. However the service can be a bit slow. If you don't go when they are super busy its wonderful.

Very cozy inside. Exposed brick and warm lighting. I would definitely make a reservation (if on weekend). The food was very good. I would highly recommend the mussels and the french onion soup.

The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. I had the special which was fabulous. However - I was blown away with the appetizer sushi special. It was phenomenal! Tasmanian Salmon with a mango/lime twist (asian fusion or something of the sort). Who would have thought excellent Sushi at a French restaurant??!!highly recommend Rue De Jean

We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and received a confirmation call that morning for our 8:00 reservation. When we arrived, they had sat another table in our spot and insisted it was us. When I finally proved we were the party listed

Rue de Jean is my all-time favorite restaurant in downtown Charleston. Unfortunately, I can only enjoy a meal there a few times a year. Expect to spend $100 for appetizers, entrees, and dessert for two...however, the food is spectacular. I get the lamb every time I go...it is so tender that it falls off the bone. The creme brulee is the best I have ever had. The bartenders are great, they can make every drink imaginable. If you go, make reservations and ask to sit in the main dining room unless you want to sit near the bathrooms!

PROS: food is the best, atmosphere is subdued class
CONS: price!
