My husband and I moved back to Charleston just over 2 years ago right before my oldest was to start school. We were panicked as to where to send her since I felt there were no schools in North Charleston that were suitable for her. One day as we were exploring the neighborhood, we happened upon Saint Johns and I thank God every day that we did.

My daughter stared there in K4 and is about to start first grade. From Day 1 she loved this school, the teachers and the children. She even cries when they are on vacation because she misses school so much.

My son has some medical issues, a skin condition and extensive allergies. He is starting K4 at St John's this fall and I know they will care for him as well as if not better then he is cared for at home. That is how wonderful and loving the staff and faculty are.

There are no clicks, All the students look out for one another and are friends with eachother, from K4-8th grade. The small classes allow teachers to give individualized attention to each student and ensure they are learning and are challenged at their individual level while still being in the grade that their age group is in.

This school is incredible on all levels. The tuition is signifigantly less than private schools in the area. The faculty and staff are outstanding. Parent involvement is high and parent teacher communication is much higher than at other school.

Pros: Individual Attention, small classes, wonderful faculty

Cons: Absolutely None

Our youngest son started K4 at SJCS testing on the low end of average, and after three years he is testing on the low end of Gifted. The small class sizes and individual attention the children get here are what has helped him.
Our oldest son is gifted and could not function in his age grade in public school. SJCS allowed him to stay in class with his peers, but adjusts the curriculum so he is challenged at his level.
This school is several thousand dollars per year cheaper than many other area schools and costs us about half what preschool cost, so it is a bargain.
Parent involvement is very high and your children are cared for like family members. The faculty is incredibly dedicated and especially skilled at figuring out the best way to educate each child.
A hidden jewel in education!

Pros: Small class sizes, individualized curriculum, nurturing

Very poor administrative leadership. Academics substandard. A religious staff that sets a poor example of true Christianity. Definitely not an atmosphere of love, grace, and tolerance......
