Jimmy Chavis is a rip off. Please do not choose this service. He dropped my mom's mobile home in the ditch and held up traffice. When the police came; he didn't even have all of the required permits. He was suppose to move the deck that came along with my mom's home. He lied about returning to do the job. He was already paid for the job and promised to return. He woud say he was on the way and never show up. My mother had to pay someone else to get the job completed. He is a liar and a rip off. His workers even talk about him in a negative manner (unprofessional). I'm just finding out that he may have lost his license once and was working under someone elses (I'm not sure of the validity of that information). Just be careful. Please do your research. He has the gift of Gab... meaning he sounds "believeable". He service may sound inexpensive...but the price is high when he doesn't do the job right... Mr. Jimmy Chavis is a Liar and his business is not to be trusted. Please go with someone else. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

I used Chavis to move my home on 3/5/2010 and paid him $5,500. needless to say, I am very displeased, I have outlets that are pulled out of the walls, the floor in th bathroom is destroyed! Chavis was aware that this was a special job as it was going on a foundation and was to be done according to the plans. The house is in a flood zone and now I have to pay someone else to set the house to the appropriate heght because Chavis wouldnt bother to look at the plans, which specified the heght the house was supposed to be set at.
He now wants an additional $3,400 to "do the job right"
This man is a ripoff. His people were even drinking beer and smoking weed on the job. Whatever you do.....DO NOT USE THIS MOVER

Pros: He's good at getting your money......

Cons: do not pay him until the work is done!!!

This outfit was hired by me to move a double wide from Colorado to Borego Springs, CA. They damaged it enroute, then abandoned it in Arizona. They did nothing to contact me or rectify the situation. DO NOT use this outfit. There is a lot of bad talk on the net about another mover, Scott Alfie Raines. I got into contract with him, but got cold feet when they did not show up on the date planned. At least Raines gave me back my deposit. Chavis never even tried to make it right. Would not return calls, gave me some story about their truck being broke down. I drove to the truck stop in AZ where it was supposedly being repaired and they never heard of the guy/

I contracted with Scott Alfie Raines to move my double wide from Denver to Borego Springs, CA. Raines did not show up and I ended up in communication with Chavis who had no hesitation about bad mouthing Raines and stating what a crook he was. After a very frustrating waste of a week, and a no show by Chavis' tear down crew,
they finally sent out a crew with the wrong equipment and not enough
axles. They were supposed to move the hold down anchors, but did not, and left the site in a shambles when they finally departed with the two halves.

The units were moved from Denver to just east of the California border (in Arizona). One of the units was abandoned just inside Arizona, and the other was left 100 miles inside Arizona. I had to take time off of my business in dealing with this whole entire mess and lost thousands of dollars in lost income. I was able to hire another company that completed the move. However, by that point I was out of funds to continue the project and had no choice but to sell it all at a loss.

Chavis claims they had valid California permits and insurance. It turns out he did not. He abandoned both halves of my house in Arizona, and lied, telling him his truck broke down. I traveled to the truck stop he said was fixing it, and they never heard of him.

So, be forewarned about this company. I understand he moves a lot of military families for the government. If this is the case and you are a potential customer, beware."
