This place is great. Please don't go buy your pet from a breeder- go adopt a shelter pet. You will be the best thing that ever happened to your pet, and you will feel really good about it too!

We couldn't be happier with the dog we adopted from Pets Inc. Our adoption counselor was professional and friendly throughout, asking us questions obviously designed with the well-being of the dog in mind. Moreover, their prices on pet food, toys, etc., cannot be beat - and my partner loves their thrift store, too! Pets Inc is an excellent facility doing very important work for countless dogs and cats in our community.

In 2002 we adopted our first dog from Pets, Inc., soon to be followed by the second. Both had been severely neglected and abused and thrived in their new home with us. We still have them today. Last year, after losing our cat of many years, we adopted a kitten, a tiny little thing that had been bottle fed because of losing her mother. She only lived two days after we got her, but she did not have to end her life in a cage. We then adopted another kitten that we had for over two months. She also died from a possible congenital problem with her intestines. Our hearts were broken, but we did not give up. We adopted two more kittens, both grown and thriving today and the rulers of the two big German shepherds.
Pets, Inc. does a magnificent job with the abandoned, abused and neglected animals that come through their doors. These animals are given a second chance that they would not have had otherwise. Through their new vet clinic they are able to give much better on-site care to the animals, but we must remember that many times there are scars lying hidden deep inside some of the animals that are impossible to detect at first. The animals are there because they are castoffs, not because they have been pampered all their lives. They all need us to help them. They are waiting to give us unconditional love for the rest of their lives.
Each of the animals has a story. It is up to us to give them a happy ending. When we do this we are rewarded more than we could have ever imagined. We all come out winners.

I first fostered and then adopted a dog from PETS, Inc. in 1991 who lived with me until her passing in 2009. She was between 1-2 years old when I got her, and she lived a long and wonderful life. I was so heart-broken after my dog died, I thought I could never adopt again, but I continued to foster. This past year I offered to foster a dog that needed rehabilitation and socialization to become adoptable. PETS Inc. provided me with food and supplies and even let me attend the animal training classes offered at their Adoption Center. The dog is now in good health, well on the way following basic commands, and is now socialized to people and other pets! I feel he would not have been given a chance if it was not for PETS Inc.'s willingness to invest in him by providing me the opportunity to work with him. I highly recommend going to PETS Inc., if you are considering adopting a pet. Through the years of my association with PETS Inc., they have continued to be one of the most caring and compassionate rescue organizations I have ever had the pleasure of working with!

I have nothing but huge respect and adoration for PETS, Inc. and their staff. They have gone out of their way to educate my family and friends about good nutrition and helped us learn about wholesome foods and toys to keep my dogs and cats safe. You, too, must learn to read the label and be aware that name-brand companies are feeding our pets with fillers and lack of nutrition to feed their own pockets. You must know that corn, chicken by-products & preservatives are killing our precious pets. Thanks to this knowledge, I have eliminated my dog's skin allergies and learned to research a holistic approach and steer away from chemicals that were destroying not only my pets but our family and household as well. They hired a vet who performs outstanding surgeries and have taken it upon themselves to provide this service at an affordable rate to help our community stop proliferation of unwanted puppies and kittens especially during these harsh economic times. You know there are people out there who love to bash those who work hard to make a difference & try to destroy commendable reputations. PETS, Inc. is the most caring, nurturing shelter you'll find in S. C.'s midlands. Just look at Scooby who was so deep in feces in a small cage for 4 years & had no muscle tone to walk. All of this at the hands of "man". Look at Winnie who was starved and celled in a fence for who knows how long. She was eaten with heart worms, emaciated and in deepest despair. Who came to their rescue? PETS, Inc.! They did not turn their head and say, "This is not my mission." They give the "down and out" and the best breeds who enter their doors a 2nd chance and hope for love and caring families and homes. They added a tent and heaters when there was no room in the inn. They work their hardest not to close the door on people and pets in need and send them off to the pounds where euthanasia is at 90-95%. They work their hardest to save as many animals as humanly possible and to place them with loving families. They micro-chip, they give free "Ticket Home" ID tags, they spay and neuter. They nurse back to health, and provide nothing but wholesome food to insure good health. They play with the animals, train and teach. They are indeed an Angel Charity as our Secretary of State awarded them November of 2010. This recognition does not come lightly. So don't let one man's voice harm an animal shelter who has been here for us for almost two decades. Volunteer, foster, and adopt. You'll see why PETS, Inc. has here for us almost 20 years. An Angel Charity? You betcha. My PETS, Inc. dogs have been a blessing and I will continue to support them to the end.

It's hard going in that shelter and then leaving wondering if those poor homeless puppies and adult dogs are going to be alright. Good for those volunteers and employees who can see and deal with this day in and day out. I leave there feeling empty almost, wanting to give them a million dollars for all that work they do. I know I couldn't deal with all the stress and emotions. Keep up the good work Pets, inc!!

I love Pets, Inc. I adopted a calico cat about 20 years ago for my daughter and she was our little love bug. She died about 3 years ago at age 17. I also took 4 kittens to them for adoption as I could not keep them and I wanted them to have a good home. All four were adopted out. I go by occasionally just to look at the cats/kittens/dogs/puppies. I have 3 cats at home and I love them so much.

I am a senior on limited income and checked around for the best price to get my pet's shots and heartworm test. Pets Inc. had the best prices. When I took my dog for his test and shots I informed the Vet Tech I was going to purchase my medications through PetCareRx since the heartworm medication was $40.00 per year rather than the $60.00 they charge. She said that was no problem. After three weeks, numerous conversation with Pets Inc and PetCareRx, today Pets Inc informed me that their Vet would not sign the verification for the medication to be bought elsewhere. I HAD to purchase my medication from him! Had they told me this in the beginning I would have gone elsewhere in the beginning. I am very disappointed and outraged that this has taken so long. When you are not in my situation (on a fixed income) I guess it's hard to understand and they really don't care just so long as he gets his money. This purchase on my pets medication will be my last purchase from them.

WORST SHELTER EVER! Not only did Pet's Inc provide me a sick/dying kitten in May '08 that had leukemia, ring worm, internal parasites and skin mites that had to be put to sleep at 11 weeks old, but I just found out they did it AGAIN in Nov '08!! Gave a local man a kitten that had leukemia and ring worm that also had to be put to sleep by 4 months! (and he got ringworm himself from the kitten as well)l. Their insurance paid nothing in either case.

Inexcusable that they don't test properly and give out sick/contagious pets! I would strongly recommend avoiding them at all costs. Go some where reputable like Petsmart or other groups that care about and take care of their animals.

I adopted two puppies and an adult cat from Pets Inc in the span of the past 5 years.I will admit, the farther back in the past I pull my experiences from, they get a bit more "sketchy," but I have never had a problem with my pets. Now that they are in a new facility, its cleaner, the staff is much more friendly and I have just had a better experience. I feel like the owners are maybe realizing that the people they have hired in the past weren't so great? Anyway, I feel like the staff and facility now are extremely nice compared to other shelters. I actually shop regularly now in the pet store and I'm always greeted.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Pets Inc. the staff and volunteers are truly animal lovers, who do an amazing job of making sure that the animals go to warm, loving, compassionate homes.

They do have rules and guidelines for adoption... but ALL of these guidelines are for the well being and benefit of the animals! such as declawing of cats is prohibited, because, The standard declawing procedure calls for the removal of the claw including the germinal (epithelium) cells responsible for its growth, and part or all of the third phalanx (terminal bone) of the toe. The operation is usually performed on the front feet, and is actually an amputation comparable to the removal of human fingertips at the first knuckle. The cat also experiences extreme pain in the recovery and healing process.

Kennel or crate training of dogs is a barbaric method that not only confines, humiliates and confuses the dog, it can attribute anti-social behaviors in the animal.

I have had several wonderful experiences dealing with Pets Inc. they are knowledgeable and experienced, they have never made me feel ill at ease with any of their practices of procedures, if you have had a bad experience with them, perhaps the problem is with you and not them.

KEEP UP THE AWESOME JOB PETS INC.!!

i adopted a handsome black kitten last year from Pets Inc. He is the love of my life! The whole adoption process was very educational, the lady doing my adoption was very helpful and willing to take as much time as i needed to help me bring this new animal home! They educated me on using a natural litter and keeping the animal on a good wholesome food. using there food plan & supplements my cat has never had any health issues! This non-profit shelter a great place to find an animal. I tell my friends and family use this shelter not just for adoption a new member of the family but they also have a GREAT pet store!

i adopted a handsome black kitten last year from Pets Inc.

I adopted a dog and a cat (at separate times) from this facility. My dog had some anxiety issues and was obviously mistreated in the past. Pets Inc couldnt tell be what he had been through or anything because he had been abandoned, which isn't their fault, but I wanted to rescue a dog that needed it... So, I didn't expect a perfect dog, perfect animals rarely end up at shelters. One of the founders did go out of their way to speak to me and give me some advice. Some of it worked, some didnt... but that's normally how advice is.

About a year later, happy with the service I received and the personal greeting I got every time I brought Gunther in to buy food or supplies (they remembered us!), I decided to return for a cat. Originally I wanted a kitten, but decided to adopt an adult after seeing how overcrowded their cat room was. Plus, I understand that since they dont kill animals, the only way space becomes available for a new cat to be taken in is if one gets adopted... So, the way I see it, I saved two lives by adopting an adult.

I still shop at Pets Inc, to save more lives, and will probably be adding a new member to my furbaby family this spring. Pets Inc is definitely were I will go.

Thanks guys!

I have adopted both of my dogs from Pet's Inc. and have never had a problem. They provided all of the shots and spay and neuter of my female and male dog, as well as helped when my puppy had a bad allgeric reactions to shampoo on his skin. They are as up-front as possible with adopters explaining the risks of Parvo and other ilness any puppy/dog can come down with, and explaining very clearly adopters are responsible for ALL verterinary charges (they are non-profit, how could they possibly afford any more vet bills then the ones they are paying for the animals still on site???) Adopting and even buying a dog from anywhere poses a risk of unseen illness, not to mention animals who are stray that have been dumped on the side of the road! Other shelters would deem these dogs un-adoptable and euthanize them. I have volunteered there on multiple occasions and compared to the NUMEROUS other shelters I have voluntered in it is emaculate! Not to mention they are a NO KILL SHELTER, that is why they never have space. Pet's Inc should not be blamed for not taking animals in, irrisponsible owners should be, they are the REASON. Pet's inc. like most no profit no kill shelters are almost always at maximum capacity!! As far as their prices I would have paid TRIPLE that for both of my dogs! They again are no profit and receive no goverment funding! On the note of their policies, why would they post them? Vivian if you were so "in love with these kittens" wouldn't you have lied to get them? Even if you wouldn't many others would! And as far as declawing it is a DISGUSTING proceeder and the fact that you would even think of putting your or any animal through that torture is completly inhumane! I'm elated to hear they did not adopt to you, and two less cats will not suffer to "save your furniture" In short Pet's Inc. is an amazing place and has staff devoted to love and caring for the cast-offs of our human society! I would highly recommed them to anyone

Great place to adopt dogs. The kids have big hearts. Lots of pups. No kill shelter.

The adoption fee with run you around $150 and may be more if you want a pure bred, but the dog comes with microchip/ vacs and spayed or neutered.

The employees that are working directly with the animals are good to them Pat & Donna they have issues. I feel if a pet is abandoned or mistreated when they come to a facility as this one they should be held and loved on.If anyone goes into this type of business they should REALLY love animals and enjoy making them happy and the public. I feel that someone should take over and run this place the way it should be. Someone with a heart!

Pets Inc. is a wonderful organization. Over the past fifteen years, my family has adopted four animals from there (three dogs and a cat). All of them have been healthy, wonderful additions to the family. Pets Inc is overrun with cats and dogs in need of adoption because everyone there cares about animals so much that they don't like to turn any of them away, and it's a no-kill shelter. I would definitely recommend Pet Inc to anyone planning to adopt a pet.

Pets Inc is a wonderful organization that has been around for many years. We adopted one of our dogs there 10 years ago and another dog this year. The shelter is in need of major repair and because of the lack of funding it seems like some of the pets aren't getting the care they need. The organization needs to do a better job of advertising and fundraising to push the need to get these animals adopted. Overall though, if you need a new pet, this is the place to come to get a loving companion - it's just so hard to choose which one to take home. The adoption fee includes your fees to have the animal spayed or neutered which is a big plus.

PROS: great selection of loving pets
CONS: lack of funding, broken down shelter

We couldn't be any happier with Pets Inc. We adopted a dog from them, and they made the entire process so easy. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us all of the information we would need to properly care for our new pet. We would definitely go to them if/when we decide to adopt another pet!
