As a relative newcomer to Aiken, I chose to give Power Cuts a try because it is housed in a charming, older cottage, and is well located on the main street of Aiken. I was also encouraged by the numerous positive reviews on other online rating sites. One must wonder if those reviews are, indeed, legitimate, or if they're phony and written to drum up business. After going there several times for hair appointments, my thought is simply - you can't judge a book by its cover. The first time I went, Elizabeth did my hair and she did a good job and was very nice. I subsequently learned that she must be the only reason to head to Power Cuts because on further tries for an appointment with Elizabeth, I was unable to schedule one with her due to both of our busy schedules. So, I tried another beautician there, Sarah. Well -- I went in for highlights and when the foils came out, I felt as though I'd just wasted an hour of my time there with her. She improperly applied the highlights, leaving at least an inch of my base color out from the root before applying the highlights. When I complained, I received nothing but attitude from her. Rude attitude. After stating that I was completely dissatisfied with her inferior service, I was offered a 'correction' appointment with the owner of the salon, Tabitha. I had hoped that an appointment with the owner would yield better results. Wrong! When removing the foils, she had obviously left the color on too long and instead of matching my soft honey-colored highlights, instead I got platinum blonde highlights. You can imagine my shock. This was discovered as she was removing the foils as I was leaning back in their (very uncomfortable) washing bowls. I realized something was wrong by the tone of her voice when I asked her how the highlights looked and asked to see, asking her to bring a mirror to me. When she wouldn't, I used my phone to take a photo so I could see the color. I couldn't believe what had happened! She then applied some sort of solution (toner?) which she proceeded to work into my hair for about 15 minutes to tone down the color. She then told me not to wash my hair for a week so that the toner could 'work.' I had already had a followup appt on their books for several weeks in advance - which I intended to cancel. I would NEVER set foot in this salon again for anything related to hair. I've never been for any of their other services (nails, etc.) so I can't speak to how those services are, but based on their ineptitude for doing hair color, I would be afraid to even let them near my skin for doing a facial. The comical ending to this little tale is that the owner told me that they didn't want my business anymore. When I asked why, the owner told me that I make them feel 'uncomfortable,' because, I suppose, I am not willing to settle for substandard, sloppy and inferior service. I also told her that for the prices they charge, comparable to a good salon in New York or Atlanta, they need to back their prices up with good work. So, I'm happy to cooperate with that dictum from them as I would rather drive to Atlanta (3 hours) than have Power Cuts do anything to my hair. So -- be forewarned.

Went in for high and lowlights, was told I only needed highlights. The woman did not discuss color, however did FRY my hair, refused to blow dry it and hacked my hair when she cut it. I had to go to another salon two days later to do a color wash. Interestingly enough, while at the other salon, there was another woman there for the same reason with a hack job from the same woman!!! The hairdresser at Powercuts needs to be fired. Will never give the spa a chance to redeem themselves, they have lost who would have been a very loyal customer.

PROS: NONE
CONS: Where should I start
