Beacon Drive Inn

The Beacon is an absolute classic when it comes to drive-in's! I don't know of another one like it anywhere. Heck, they still have car hops! And that classic greasy drive-in food CANNOT be beat! Get a chili-cheese a plenty and make a point to get a large order of onion rings and a sweet iced tea! If you have room after that, try a sundae or some of that southern pie! The dining experience is like nowhere else with the order takers shouting out your order to the cooks. (My first trip there, I found it a little intimidating!) It's really amazing because it looks like total chaos but runs as smooth as silk! Prices are reasonable & they offer a wide variety to choose from. Don't miss a chance to sample the Beacon when you're in Spartanburg! You'll be sorry if you do!

Ive had many burgers in my time. My waiseline can attest to that. But the food you get at the Beacon Drive Inn in Spartanburg is some of the best you will get! You literally have to eat a mound of fries and fresh cut oinion rings before you find the burger you"ve ordered. As far as burgers go you can get anything you wish on one, and they are well prepared and very tasty. The resturant underwent new management a few years ago and many worried that the food would pay the price, but the new owners left off right where John White Jr. had the place. Top quality food at a reasonable price. My hat is off to you new owners! The quantity of the food that is prepared is unfathomable to those who have never been there before. If you have never eaten there I strongly recomend it!

If you are watching you weight, then don't even drive next to this place, I think breathing in the air makes you gain 2 pounds. But they do have the best food in spartanburg, there is no doubt about it. When John B. White passed away ( the origional owner ) two gents bought it up, and luckly not much has changed, because I think if it had there business would have gone down hill.
Still closed on sunday but they open the ice cream bar after church. The beacon drive in, sells a large assortment of food, but I would say is best known for their Chile-Cheese. In simple its a burger joint, think Varsity, but its a must try if you are in the area.

PROS: Good Food, Good prices, Good people
CONS: I don't see how they pass DHEC, it looks durty, but tastes so good.

The Beacon is Spartanburg's famous burger joint. Signs advertising The Beacon are found as far away as California. This is a wonderfully greasy restaurant that features huge
"a-plenty" plates loaded with fries and onion rings. They also have an ice cream bar and car hop service. The Beacon sells t-shirts and other memorabilia as well. Another feature is their catering menu for gatherings. The food is always great and the employees are great at moving the line along. This is a great hang-out spot for everyone.
