Henk Duane J Md - Primary Care Assoc saved my husband's life.
by Linda H.
Our experience with Dr. Henk was life-saving. He suggested that my husband take a cardiac scoring test (something we had never heard about before moving to Anderson). The result was a number that was so high that the technician arranged for my husband to meet with Dr. Henk at that moment. Dr. Henk immediately set him up for an appt. with a cardiologist, and within ten days, my husband was at AnMed, scheduled for open heart surgery. Since my husband wasn't having any heart-related symptoms, Dr. Henk could easily have done nothing. The cardiac surgeron told us that my husband would probably have had a major heart attack within one year, if surgery hadn't been performed.
I recently had my first annual exam with Dr. Henk, and I also found him thorough.

Dr. Duane Henk = watch out for negligence...stay away
by Anonymous
My friend, "Louise", was under Henk's care for 10 years; for the last two years, he continued to misdiagnose Colon/Liver cancer as an ovarian cyst. Now, she is in the Hospice House with Stage 4 cancer and is only 44 years old. Come to find out Henk is certified to perform colonoscopies, which he never performed or perscribed; his solution was overprescribing pain meds for nearly 1 1/2 years. Now, my aunt is dying.
Just the other day, Henk came to Hospice House to see her. He accosted "Louise" to the degree where she was crying and vomitting by the end of his visit. He told the nurses "Crying is good for her". When the nurses asked him to leave, he resisted and said "he was not finished with her yet". Who comes to visit a dying person in this way? After speaking to a family member about the development of a lawsuit for negligence and malpractice, he stated that he was practically untouchable b/c his "father is a judge and his brother is a lawyer". Obviously, he thinks he is above the law.
This case is now being reviewed for malpractice. Warning: if you are a patient of Duane Henk in Anderson, SC...I advise you to promptly change doctors to someone who is willing to 1) read and act upon lab tests 2) send to other doctors for referrals and 3) believes in the Socratic oath that he took upon entering the field.

Hard to get on the phone
by Alicia B.
If you need to speak with someone beyond the receptionist, good luck. You have to leave a message and stick by your phone for someone to call you back, which is sometimes several hours later. Hard to do if you are at work. I've played phone tag for days trying to schedule a procedure.
And you can't hold for a nurse. Oh no, there is some sort of magic block that absolutely will NOT let you hold for a nurse no matter how long it might take or how willing you might be. Leave a message and wait!

Very well staffed and smoothly run family care type of practice. I have seen 3 of the physicians in this office and been pleased with the care recieved from all.
Very accomodating to schedule appointments and also have 1/2 day saturday hours..
PROS: Saturday hours.
CONS: May not always be able to see regular physician on short notice.

Have been using this office for my primary care needs since 1994. Have been quite happy and satisfied with the medical care recieved here. My primary care doctor is Dr. Duane Henk, but have on occasion seen some of the other doctors.
