I was looking for a rental home. I looked at a few properties, including some from other property management companies. I happened to like the one from Miler Properties and put my application in. I was approved with no problems. The place was in good condition, just needed a small clean up from being vacant for awhile. Whenever I needed something, I emailed them and got things taken care of. Even if something happened after office, they have an after hours phone where if there is an emergency, they will find someone to come out to help.

My experience has been fine with the company, but I'm pretty laid back. They've taken care of whatever I needed, and seemed to be genuine about it. They all have been very nice, and in the end, that's the type of people I like doing business with.

Surprised by all the bad reviews on here so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I rented from Miler for a few years, and my brother in law has his property rented through them now, and we both have had fine experiences. They have been very nice people to deal with, and haven't had a problem yet that was dealed with unprofessionally. I recommend them all the time, and seems like everyone is happy with the company.

I recommend Miler all the time, and everyone has been happy with the company. Must be a reason why they have been ranked one of top property management companies in the Charleston area!

I have been dealing with Miler for three years, as a homeowner who hired them to manage our property we have had nothing but issues. This company is very unprofessional and rude! I spend more time working for them then vice versa, I constantly have to call and leave messages for them to never call me back. When my full months rent doesn't get deposited into my account I call to find out WTF? They then realize the renter didn't pay the full amount! Duh! Then my renter gives notice and then doesnt move out but does the management company know, NOPE!
If I could give this company a rating it would be a zero! I am in the process of contemplating legal action against them for breach of contract and not fulfilling their end of our agreement.. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE AWFUL AND CHARGE YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!

Most people would spend their time complaining about poor customer service and poor business ethics so we decided to express our concerns in a postive way. We hired Miler Properties a year and a half ago to maintain and care for our home while overseas. We cannot express how grateful we are to have Miler Properties manage our home. Their professionalism, dedication and services during our time away from the states have helped us tremendously.
No other business has displayed excellant service by maintaining their professionalism and aiming towards making great improvements to better serve their customers. We have referred several active duty family members to Miler Properties so they can also experience their commitment and motivation to help alleviate stress, anxiety and tension during permanent change of station.
We want to thank Miler Properties for serving the Summerville area and helping the Arm Forces and their families with our rental needs.

I too would give it a "0" if possible
-Still haven't recieved a pool key after 4 months of bugging them
- never get messages returned
-fix it order misterously "lost" so never fixed
-Bad service from thier "handyman" including never showing up
-Hard to actually get on the phone
- And I have yet to move out so I am really worried about them trying to screw us on moveout costs, been calling them for 2 weeks now trying to schedual an appointment. No calls back.

I wish Yelp woud allow me to give this company zero stars...

I agree 100% with the active duty serviceman's review of Miler. The communication with Miler and any of their agents is terrible at best. Anytime I have called, they were "on the other line" or out of the office. And I am not exaggerating when I say this happened every single time I ever called our property manager there. We took very good care of the house that we lived in and rented temporarily from them. Once we were ready to move out, we spent hours cleaning and getting it ready for them to turn over to new renters. Without even looking at the house, they claimed it was not ready for new renters and charged us close to $200 of our deposit for "cleaning fees". Ive never felt more used and taken by a company than I have after using this place. We have rented in the past and never once not gotten our full deposit back.

In purchasing our new house, we mentioned our problem to our realtor. She said that she had also experienced the same issue when her family rented from Miler and was aware of several others who had also had this happen. They are out to take every penny from you without giving you an ounce of service. I typically try not to post overly negative reviews, but I cannot stress enough how important it is for anyone looking to rent a house in the Summerville area to AVOID MILER PROPERTIES LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW.

Call Carolina One or any of the other real estate companies in the area, but whatever you do, please do not make the same mistake that we made in using this horrible, dishonest, company.

If you're a contractor-DONT DO WORK FOR THESE IDIOTS!!!
They complain about the dumbest things-Susan is a crackhead! You're better off going door to door looking for work. I swear they call 5 contractors and see who gets to jobsite first!

I am quite puzzled by these review comments. I am a reservist with the United States Air Force and relocated to the Summerville area in 2008. Miler Properties was the first company to pop up on my rental search. I called up and was able to immediately connect with a property manager. I believe her name was Susan. She was extremely helpful. When asked for additional pictures since I was moving site unseen I received them within a day. She was very quick on responding to any questions or concerns I had. The move in process was exceptionally easy and I didn't feel stressed at all. About a month into the lease I had issues with my HVAC. I called Miler and within 24 hours there was a technician at my house to fix the issue. I have recently purchased a home and worked with Miler Properties in that process also. Again an extremely easy process with great communication. My security deposit was returned in a timely manner. Yes I got charged for cleaning, but they were able to provide me with pictures to back up there argument and after seeing the pictures I understood. Needless to say, Miler Properties has always made me feel like family and I would recommend them to anyone!

Miler Properties is an awful rental agency!! They are extremely accomodating prior to signing a lease and then it's all down-hill after that. It takes them months to have something fixed within a property. The communication between the staff members is horrible. The receptionist, Beth, is very rude and needs to learn some customer service manners. They will withhold your security deposit and not refund you the full amount for any small reason they can think of. And, eventhough they would not give you a full refund, they would not use that money to fix the problem. They keep it in the bank and let it collect interest. So beware of this!! We rented a property from them for 1 1/2 years and I will NEVER do that again.

I just moved here from TX and my experience with Miler Properties was great. They made it super easy for us and found us a rental home on the FIRST day! We had keys in hand two days later. My husband and I had the pleasure of dealing with Lucia and Jennifer, both very nice ladies. The first night in our home the heater crapped out and they personally came to hand deliver space heaters to us! Now if that isn't great service then I don't know what is. I don't like that I have to hand deliver the rent but it's not too far away so it's ok. I would most definitely recommend these people for anyone looking to rent :)

Where to start... The lady Beth that answers the phone is the most rude person I have ever dealt with and I am a local business owner and was shocked they had someone so unprofessional working there. If I overheard anyone of my employees speak to people the way she does it would be immediate dismissal. Debbie never returns phone calls and is so inconsistent she tells you one thing and does another. I pay a large amount of rent for a gorgeous house but have to deal with such unprofessional people that we are looking to move out ASAP strictly because of having to deal with them. Mt wife and I hate having to bring the rent in monthly because it sickens us to having to do business with them. I am considering letting the home owner know what kind of people are managing their property. They only get one star because you can't leave it blank!

Should have known what I was in for when I waited for weeks to get a lease. Was moving from out of state with my children and had nothing but a verbal agreement. Had to call the office a hundred times and get my own realtor involved.
Three weeks after moving in found a delinquent tax notice on my lawn stating the house was going on the auction block. Took weeks to get that straightened out. Told me there must be some mistake and lied on a regular basis. Told me the owner paid his taxes meanwhile I'd call the county clerks office and they would tell he didn't.

Lost heat during the winter and waited FIVE days for Miler to get in fixed. When I finally wrote a nasty email to Mr. and Mrs. Miler, they decided to fix it. Susan told me "we have to get approval from the owner". No genius.....not when it comes to heat!
So I just had my final inspection and was given a verbal from Mr. and Mrs. Miler's daughter that I would be getting my full deposit back. Not holding my breath. When I pulled out of the driveway, she pretended to leave and then turned around to go back to the house. These people are soooo shady...it's unbelievable.
I would avoid dealing with them at all costs and if you must make sure you have an agent working specifically for you.........or a lawyer.

I rented a home from Miler Properties in the Wescott Plantation community and lived there for nearly 2.5 years. I found my experience to be a very positive one. No one is perfect but I found Miler Properties to be honest, ethical, and a straight forward with their business practices. They didn't do anything that I considered to be unethical and did exactly as they said they would when I signed my initial lease agreement. Like any other real estate business, they all have rules that must be followed and penalties if they are not. Afterall, they are in the business to not only rent the homes to customers but to protect the interest of the homeowner and I think they do it well. I had to break my lease before expiration due to another job opportunity out of state and found them to be extremely helpful in finding someone to move in the property and releasing me from the unnecessary added financial burden. I am appreciative to Miler for providing my family with a nice home to live in for the time I was there and for being so kind. I would have no problem recommending them to other potential clients and already have on several occasions.

Miler is a night mare !!!!We moved from N.Y to Summerville , SC. Trying to get an answer on the phone was like pulling teeth . I would call repeatedly only to be told that someone would call me back , never happened. They held things up until the last min .
Ok so , we finally move into the house .1,000 a month 1,000 security deposit.
We lived there for 2 years ( cost , $24,000 )
During that time they lost 3 of the checks I sent in for the rent , my bank charged me $30 dollars each time I had to stop payment on the check .
We moved out to save money , during the process of moving out I cleaned everything from the windows to the base boards . It was cleaner then when I moved in .
The only damage was were my dog had scratched at the rug . Which I interned to pay for ,Other wise the house was in excellent condition .
They waited the entire 30 days to send me a letter stating that not only did they keep my 1000 dollar security deposit but that they were charging me another 2000 for repairs .

One plastic globe foe an outside light $60
Cleaning because I couldn't get the stove spotless
$180.00
Rugs 1,900 ( they could have repaired the spot it was small .
Painting of the entire house $ 900 ( they use flat based paint every little mark shows up not washable )
$50 for a pool key that I returned to them along with all of the other keys they lost it .
amongst other things
I did a little investigating and found out that they same month I moved out they had evicted 20 families from my neighborhood , I guess they are looking to recoop some of the money they lost on those evictions from me .

Mind you I was never late with my rent and kept the property up and after paying 234 thousand dollars in rent this is how I'm repaid nice miler , remember repeat business is 90 % word of mouth and after what people hear about the way you conduct your business and the price gouging you do , no one will do business with you .

Miler properties has cost my family thousands of dollars and we still have no place to live. Before I moved my family across the US, they had promised my husband that they would find us a home to rent no matter what our situation (credit, rental history, or animals that we may have). They said worst case scenario, we might have to pay a larger security deposit. We had money for that, no problem. Moved the family down here believing that we would be in a house no time. Found a couple of houses that we liked, but you are only allowed to apply for one house at a time. We soon found out how slow they work. The approval of your pets and application is based on the home owners. I can understand that, but their only contact with the home owners is through email. This takes a long time to get questions answered. We were only allowed to focus on one house at a time, so by the time we got our questions answered, bent over backwards to get all the info they needed, found out that we weren't accepted. This was two and a half weeks later. We had to stay in a hotel the entire time. There goes our security deposit money! We were not allowed to apply to any other home. GRRR. A week later, they called us back and said that they would accept us with an extra security deposit. Sorry, spent it on staying in a hotel for three weeks. They then decided to look into other homes for us. Every time I would call there, my name would have to be attached to a property address even after I got denied. Then the lady would always be on another line and would never return my phone calls. The only time we heard from her is when she wanted something from us. I know that things could work faster in the realestate world because we decided to work with Amy Langstone from Carolina One. She worked her butt off for us and got questions answered within a short time. She found a couple of homes that would accept us with an extra security deposit, but then again it got spent on staying in hotels waiting on Miler. Thanks again Miler! We are now stuck staying in a run down apartment complex (the only one in town that will accept a 130lb english mastiff). Thanks for your help Miler!

I sent my wife to Charleston, SC four weeks ago in search of a home to rent for our family. The home she found was managed by Miler Properties. After they told her there was a $60 application fee I decided to talk to them personally. Since we had credit trouble I asked them if the application fee was refundable because if we were to be rejected then I would have to keep shelling out application fees. They informed me that they deal with credit problems all the time and that in the worst case scenario we might have to pay a double security deposit. So based on that we moved our family to Charleston. After we arrived the problems with Miler began. We spent the next three weeks staying in hotels at $70 per night and jumping through hoops for Miler but to no avail. Now they were singing a different tune. They couldn't get us a home and had no memory of what they had told us in the beginning. In the meantime my wife, our two infant boys, and I are stuck in Charleston (having already spent $2000 in hotels, food, and incidentals) without a place to live and much worse off than we were before we left Michigan.

Pros: Nice properties

Cons: Slow process

.

Hmmm, this company couldn't possibly be reviewing themselves, now could they? Naaaaah, that would be highly unethical! *Wink* *Wink* I bet they are a real pleasure to deal with!

Miler Properties is a family owned rental & property management company in Summerivlle. They tend to have nicer quality homes to rent. They are excellent property managers if you want to rent your property. They do a thorough credit check, etc. on the renters and really do a good job on managing the properties. They are local people and family owned, so they know Summerville. They have an office located on Trolley where you can stop and inquire. Parking is not an issue as they have a large lot. Very nice people.

PROS: great property managers
CONS: none
