Ratings_icons AWFUL VET!

This place is awful and the doctor is rude and doesnt care about your pet. Our 1st visit he didnt even put his hands on our puppy. I got a really bad vibe from the whole place and Dr hendricks but my fiance was gonna give him a chance. He was in and out of the room before we could even ask question about raising a puppy. 2nd visit just the same rude front desk people, rude vet techs, and a vet doctor that was in and out of the room in 2 seconds without saying 2 words to us. For the amount of money u pay these unfriendly people it should be a pet spa! All services are over priced for the rudeness you get. I thought vets were suppose to love the animals not look at them as dollar signs. Anyway 3rd visit i was overcharged and we will NEVER go back! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!!!!!

I agree with the reviews that the women at the front desk are generally non-helpful and rude. Dr. Hendricks is a nice man, but I sometimes question his thoroughness. We're switching vets.

Ratings_icons Great Vet!

I have taken my dogs and cats to Dr. Hendricks for 28 years. He has also performed major surgeries on 4 of my dogs all with great outcomes. Dr. Hendricks also shows compassion and expertise on each visit. Not to mention he will meet you after hours!

I moved to Anderson after living in Greenville. I have no children so I take my animals health very seriously. Dr. Hendricks has always been so helpful and is by far the cheapest vet I've seen around. Once one of my dogs was hit inside our neighborhood. After realizing what had happened, I called Dr. Hendricks at two or three in the morning. He was more than willing to meet me at his office where he took care of my dog. Dr. Hendricks saved my dogs life and I was shocked by how inexpensive the visit ended up being. I've been to several emergency clinics before and never been charged as little as I was at Dr. Hendricks's. I agree that he may be very quiet at times but he has never misdiagnosed my dog and I am positive I've never been ripped off.

Ratings_icons Dr. Hendricks--great vet

Tara G.

Disregard the previous reviews. I have lived in Anderson, SC my entire life, and have always taken my pets here. Although Dr. Hendricks does in fact have little "bedside manner," he is by far one of the best vets I have ever had. I had a dog that I took to another ver (BIG MISTAKE) for surgery, and ended up having to bring him to Dr. Hendricks to fix what the other vet did. I even wrote a letter to the state vet board about the other vet and how good Dr. Hendrick's and his staff were. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. 2 bad experiences discussed above doesn't really say much when there have been probably 1000 or more good ones.

I took my German Shepherd to Dr Hendricks from the time he was 12 weeks old. I never failed to have his check ups. Dr Hendricks never once touched my pet to check for ailments that may affect his life. He developed a tumor and had to be put to sleep. During the 8 years I took my dog to this vet it seems he would have least known the sex of the dog, but he didn't. If I had taken my dog to a caring vet he may be alive today, but I trusted this vet.

I went to pick him up for burial and received him in a garbage bag. This shows uncaring and disrespect for animals.

The front office has very unfriendly girls working their who have no compassion for pet owners. They will just leave you standing at the desk while they carry on conversations between themselves.

Don't ever carry your pet to this doctor if you value their health.

Ratings_icons Recommended to me, but I wouldn't recommend

Deanna K.

Being newer to the area, my neighbor recommended Hendricks for my animals. Shortly after, my dog developed a hematoma in his ear. I brought him to their nice new building. It was spacious and clean. After filling out paperwork, sent to a waiting area, and then sent to a room, no one had yet to acknowledge my dog. The doctor came in, felt his ear, told me what it was and said that he needed surgery. (even he did not acknowledge my dog). The vet told me that it would cost about $150 for the surgery and medications.
When I picked up my dog the next day, I was presented for a bill of over $350. Upon questioning it, the receptionist read off all the charges and said it came to over $350 and that the doctor must not have included the medication for home, anesthesia, overnight stay, etc. I was under the impression when the doctor told me the price, it included all that.
I not very happily gave him my credit card as he handed me a bag of medication. The phone rang as he handed me my receipt.
I waited for a few minutes at the counter for home care, medication, and follow up instructions while he was still on the phone. Finally, he asked what I needed and called over a nurse to go over the instructions. Which she basically just looked at the 4 prescriptions and read off the bottles. I could have done that.
Frustrated, and without any care or follow up instructions, I left. Never to return.

PROS: Provide boarding, but I would never leave my animals there.
CONS: Inflate and do not disclose all charges. Unfriendly.
