Magnolia is a beautiful plantation on the Ashley River near Charleston SC. It is worth the price of admission. You can spend the day walking around the grounds after you tour the house. I loved it.

Magnolia, although rather expensive, was well worth the trip. It is a beautiful plantation and the gardens are amazing...there is lots to see and do, and it is definitely a full day's worth of activities. The tour guides are helpful and interesting. Because of the price, we probably won't visit it too often, but definitely recommend that anyone should visit it at least once.

PROS: Great Experience
CONS: Expensive

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens is a must see for any visitor to Charleston.

The grounds are lovely and worth a visit at any time of year but it's the gardens that are the main draw. Spring is a particularly beautiful time to visit as that's when the azaleas bloom. There are many azaleas and it's a breathtaking sight. The summer roses are also very impressive and very fragrant.

Visiting Magnolia Plantation & Gardens is a lovely way to relax and enjoy the beauty of well mantained grounds and flowers.

Since Charleston is a tourist area, some times some places are more like expensive tourists traps than others. Magnolia is a beautiful place to visit with a ton of history but it is very expensive. In Jan. of each year the tourist dept. downtown offers locals a chance to purchase a ticket to go to several tourist spots for a flat price. That is when we go. It is a wonderful tour if you get a chance to go. Lots of natural beauty, audubon swamp area and tours of the house. Interesting slave quarters, too. A good trip for a day & a must at least once for tourists/locals. Parking is plentiful.

PROS: Very beautiful grounds
CONS: expensive
