Its funny the very evening after dining at Fulton Five and learning that it has been voted the most romantic restaurant in Charleston 13 years in a row, we had dinner with a couple who got engaged there. They spoke of the table they sat

A few comments on an internet forum pointed me to this restaurant. It is the only way I would have found it as a tourist, as it has no website, and it's not facing one of the main roads in downtown.

This is a restaurant that is very serious. I think that they want you to dress nice before walking in. Since I love their food so much, I think that I will.

We ordered an appetizer(bruschetta with mushrooms). I thought it was "not bad". The mushrooms were pungent. Some might not like it that way. I didn't mind it, but I probably wouldn't ask for them to be so potent, either. A satisfying dish, but I'll probably try something else.

I had a trout, which was executed well, both on the inside and the outside(pan seared on the outside, and lemon and onion heated inside).

My girlfriend ordered the ravioli, and she said it was the best ravioli she's ever had. This one's vegetarian-friendly. It must have been pretty good, because I've never seen a ravioli dish that can get anyone excited, and she was wiping the plate with bread at the end, not wanting to leave anything behind. It sounded cliche, but she was falling in love with the ravioli more and more after each bite.

We each had a glass of wine, but I don't know anything about wine to discern one from another, so I'll just say that it was fine. Not "smoky", and was "fruity" as we had requested.

The dessert was tiramisu, and, I love this restaurant and I don't want to sound like I'm knocking it, and I'll say that it was fine. Not an "A" dish like the fish, but "B".

Service at this restaurant is excellent. Our server didn't act like a new best friend, but the guy knew his stuff from how the dishes are prepared, as well as the wines at the restaurant.

Overall, the dining experience at Fulton Five was both excellent and impressive. Excellent, because the dishes are prepared well, and impressive, because the staff provides service that is memorable(if somewhat snobby)

Pros: Excellent food and service

Cons: $125 for 2 peeps. "I" can't swing it everyday(or every week), personally...

We went here on a Saturday night and the Food, Service, etc were all GREAT. We will be back for sure.
Had a party of 5, but not crowded. They did get busy around 830pm. Again a Wonderful dinner!

Fulton 5 is a Charleston classic! Fridays and Saturdays can get crazy- so if you prefer a more peaceful setting go on a weeknight. For a quick dinner and glass of red sit at the bar...for a romantic evening settle in and order a bottle of wine. They serve the best bread anywhere- with delicious high quality olive oil for dipping...and yummy salads. (Try the spinach-mushroom salad.) It's all good- from start to finish- so don't forget dessert! You will love it!
