When I was in grad school I ate at Pasta Fresca quite a few times, but had it more often for catering. The pasta is great, and their tiramisu is pretty tasty too.

Don't let the outside throw you off. Although it gives the impression that it's not going to be an exemplary eating experience, one bite of the food will tell you you're mistaken. They make fresh pasta and sauces daily, and their reasonably priced menu will keep you coming back, and I love how they will adjust their dishes for you. The staff is SO friendly, you feel like everybody's one big family.

Pasta Fresca is probably the best Italian food in Columbia. A friend of mine, 1/2 Italian and VERY picky about her Italian food, ate there with me and she highly approved, even wanted to bring her full-Italian husband with her next time. While the exterior looks a bit like a run-down old building set on the edge of grocery store parking lot, the inside is a welcome surprise. They have your typical Italian menu, with many unique recipes and combinations (Spinach and walnut ravioli - house special). They make their own pasta and it shows. The lasagna is excellent, not dry, and a huge serving. Specials vary every night, and often are the best choices as they tend to be fresh salmon or other seafood in specially-made sauce combinations. Their sauces are excellent - the marinara is perfect, not too sweet, well-seasoned (I've even pulled out a bay leaf or two on occasion!), and my favorite is by far their creamy marinara, it has a nice kick to it. A must-try is the Bruschetta appetizer - it is a meal in itself! The restaurant was recently bought by a new owner/manager who made some significant improvements (screened in the porch for more seating, improved the menu) and it shows. Prices are typical for a medium to high end Italian restaurant, $10-18 for entrees that come with side salad. As for the wine selection, it is not what they are known for but they do have a nice selection.

Pasta Fresca is a good place for real italian food. They have homemade pasta and wonderful specials. They have friendly service and a wide selection for any appetite. The only downside is the atmosphere is unimpressive but for a cute hole in the wall this place is great.

PROS: Great food and Service
CONS: outside isn't representative of inside
