As a place to shop, its a lot of fun to walk around and take in a wide variety of vendors. As a place to vend, its got a pretty awful track history for new vendors. The office is prone to accounting errors, double selling tables, selling

After reading all of the reviews listed in my headline, I had to go back and read the last line in "Really fair" Posted by "tell both sides" which I believe is Gerald himself. (come to find out the lady was almost kicked out of that market for her attitude over a $3.50 purse ) You fire employee's for having bad attitudes, you do not threaten your customers with eviction for having a bad attitude!! A good business man would have resolved this problem in a more professional manner, defiantly without threatening eviction over a $3.50 bag. Makes you wonder how long the roof had been leaking!!! I too am a vendor at this market and also believe that if changes are not made VERY soon it's going to be to late for this market. I would suggest that any vendors with a problem contact Alec Chaplin Jr. and bypass Gerald, sooner or later the Chaplin's will get the message. His day's are numbered

I do have to add all of the other employee's at this market make it a Great Place to do Business!!!

You must be one his brown nosing buddies, He always has an attitude (short mans complex ) and is clueless as to how to treat loyal customers that pay rent on time and bring weekend traffic to the Columbia Market. The vendors are who the crowd comes to see not Him!!! He is losing vendors left and right and no longer has a waiting list for warehouse units. Also his attempt
at having a Wednesday market was A joke, Without quality vendors and support from those vendors you have no market. I truly feel sorry for the man, A smile and a simple nice word will get you so much more than a head nod and some smart a_ _ remark, If some changes are not made pretty soon I know of at least 10 MORE vendors that will be gone by the first of the year!!
When an anchor store pulls out of a shopping center, what happens? That shopping center dies,That's whats happening at the Columbia Barnyard. He needs to put his pride to the side an start asking vendors for help and get this market back on track, or ALEC H CHAPLIN, JR needs to replace him. ALL VENDORS WITH COMPLAINTS SHOULD CONTACT ALEC H CHAPLIN, JR

There is a Harley Davidson Boot dealer located at the Barnyard. My husband and I have purchased many pairs of boots from Gladys over the years. We purchased a pair a week ago, the stitching came undone and we returned them after being worn an hour. She wouldn't exchange them, said she couldn't sale "used" boots. We are stuck with a pair of bad boots and very disappointed with her customer service. She knows my husband and I by name, knows we sent her a lot of business and spent a lot of money with her. We now know she is all about the money. Very sad. The rest of the flea market seems good, she's horrible. Buyer BEWARE! Don't let the sweet little elderly lady fool you! She's all about the $$$$$.

First let me say I knew Gerald before he came to this market and yes he is a straight forward person and if you try and take advantage of him or not follow the rules of the company or pay your rent that is when he has a hot head , by the way leather know how to spell someone's name when you are going to talk about them. As for the pocket book lady get both sides I went to Gerald and ask him about this if he would evict someone like that and he would not give me a name of the person but he assured me that it was not true. So he told me the story of what happened and then I asked someone else and they comfrimed it. The vendor had a leak and brought the pocket book in for credit. He told her he would give her credit for the purse for what she paid for it. First off let's say your rood leaked at the mall who pay's, your insurance company not the landlord, but he did tell her he would cover the cost, she then started to get loud and saying it was a expensive purse and he told her three time not to get smart but she could not see that he was doing more than he has to by paying her for what she paid. At that point is when he told her she would leave the market. Come to find out the lady almost was kicked out that market for her attitude over a 3.50 purse.

Pros: as long as you follow the rules and pay your rent

Cons: wish it was larger

If you want to sale at the Barnyard Flea Market, I highly recommend this place. It is one of the most clean places I've ever seen or been to. Very Friendly employees and surrounding vendors (if you are selling). I have shopped at this market for years and then decided to come as a vendor and I was very impressed and would come back again.

I was in the office this past weekend to inquire about a permanent spot at this location, A lady was in to pay her rent and had a question about a hand bag that had been damaged by a leaky roof, The Manager I believe his name was Jerald, got really bent out of shape, in fact went as far as to give the lady her 30 day eviction notice all over a $3.00 hand bag. This in my opinion is no way to treat you customers. I have thought about the way this lady was treated by the management at this market and decided that it's not somewhere that I can feel good about being as a permanent vendor, I would hate to spend time to build up a client base and then have a man like Jerald who has no ability to negotiate, evict me over a small complaint. Come on!! So if your thinking of becoming a permanent vendor at this market, walk through and talk to some of the vendors like I did before you make a decision, 6 out of the 10 that I talked to only had negative comments about the management ( Jerald ) at this location

Unlike the Barnyard location in Pineville (that also has ALEC H CHAPLIN, JR as its registered agent) this location still permits the sale of live animals and does not appear to regulate how their vendors care for the animals.

I went to Lexington Sc flea market today and was horrified by what I saw!! Puppies packed tightly in small crates and even glass boxes in 100 degree heat, some looked to be suffering heat stroke. I even saw a gueinie pig die from heat. There were at least 100 puppies, Boston terrier, maltese, yorkies etc. You name the breed they are there suffering!! I snuck some pho to they aren't great but the breeders were nasty and very defensive. I added a link to the flea market they are sold at. Please if you know of anyone who can help forward info. They are open sat and sunday. There are also rabbits stacked on top of eachother being sold as snake food IT IS AWFUL!!! My daughter cried when she saw these animals!!

Proof of the conditions is on the Wilmington Craigslist site.

The Barnyard Flea Market is a wonderful place to go for a family outing. You can walk around to the different vendors and haggle if you want to. Chances are, you will not leave without finding something that you want.

We visit the Barnyard Flea Market about once a month. There tend to be many more 'commercial sellers' at this flea market. Their are several purse. CD and jewelry dealers that sell their good at reasonable prices. They do not usually have many type of 'yard sale' boothes. This flea market is clean and has several good and clean snack bars. They also have a large selection of pet for sale, especially early in the morning.
