Every time we have family in town that want to do the tour, we always go to Palmetto Tours! They give you free 2 hour parking and you get to go the barn and wait. It is nice and relaxing!

Absolutely the best carriage in Charleston, whether your first time or, like us, yearly visitors. Best of all is the obvious care for the animals (I am HSUS member AND a biologist AND am owned by my own mule, so believe me, I care). Visit to the Red Barn is not to be missed! The 4-footed and 2-footed staff will make you glad you came. We like to go watch the "hitching-up" first thing in the morning.

Pros: The Red Barn! Animal friendly

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed taking Palmetto's mule-drawn carriage tour. The guide was excellent and the kids LOVED their big red barn. It is a must do for anybody going to Charleston.

We are new to Charleston but when various family members have come, we have taken them to the Pametto Carriage tours. This tour company gives free parking (the others don't) all day. So, you can take a tour in the morning and leave your car in their secure lot all day. Parking in downtown is either via parking garage or lot or street parking (max you can put in change is 2 hours). Parking really adds up quick in Charleston so parking at Palmetto is a great deal. The tours take you all over downtown Charleston and their tour guides are very professional and have been with them for many years. They also have a small petting area with a couple of ponies and other animals for the small kids. You can get in a buggy with others (cheapest) or rent a buggy exclusively. A tad on the expensive side, but a real treat and gives you a fast and comfortable tour (no walking!) of downtown. Highly recommended.

PROS: Excellent tour guides
CONS: none
