I am in town for some training and had a problem with my clutch. I blew out a seal in the clutch slave cylinder so I couldn't get it into gear. I replaced the parts myself about 6 months prior, and luckily the parts were covered under a lifetime warranty. I was quoted $325 for the job. When I called to get the truck back, the price had jumped up to $415. I never signed a quote, or any paperwork for that matter when I dropped it off. When I got it back, they had charged me extra to bleed a clutch that hasn't even been bled properly. There is still air in the system, for a job THAT I WAS CHARGED EXTRA FOR, that should have been included. I also now have an issue with the power steering. All of the sudden, the fluid is low, and after I inspected it, there are no leaks in the system. I'm not sure how it got low, but it is now. They also left the truck a mess. I'm not talking about the inside. I'm talking about the outside. There is brake fluid all over everything now. Brake fluid attacks paint.
Just so everyone knows, this review is written from a former dealership mechanic(Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep and Eagle before they went under). I spent just shy of 10 years working for a dealership. My specialty was Heavy Line, which means this was the kind of repairs that I did. Engines, transmissions, and rear ends. I will be here in Sioux Falls for a while, and if anything goes wrong with my truck again, I will be finding someone else to fix it. I am not impressed.
When you take your vehicle to someone, get a written quote. Hand shakes are worth what you pay for them these days. Absolutely nothing.
I used to use them alot but the bill they gave me was ALWAYS substantially more than the estimate.
I finally had enough.
