My girlfriend and I were traveling through Rapid City and were looking for a restaurant that would be a good break from fast food and other roadside fare. The Wine Cellar was perfect. The meal was delicious, service was excellent, and prices were reasonable.

Entrees are in the $18-20 range, but come with a good salad, seasonal vegetables on the side, and bread. No complaints at all and would definitely recommend to anyone in or traveling through the area.

While on a recent vacation to the Black Hills, we had the good fortune of eating at the Wine Cellar Restaurant. The decor is elegant, and yet you don't need to get "fancied up" to go there. My husband and son both wore casual slacks. I saw other patrons in blue jeans, and others in skirts.
The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone, and the wine list worthy of a New York five-star restaurant. They specialize in continental cuisine with a Californa twist, and it is all very very fresh. Our entrees came with bagette slices and some "spread du jour" which was a melange of soft cheeses and herbs. The salad was spring greens and your choice of dressing. I chose the rasberry vinegarette which was sweet and balanced. My entree of chipolte maple glazed pork medalion was wonderful from the first bite to the last. It was trimmed to perfection and very tender. The vegetables served were cooked to perfection - not overdone and just a bit of crispness left in them.
I of course had to taste my husband's filet mignon and it too was of top notch equal quality. My son's meal of shrimp and pasta had a blend of cream sauce, and the smokiness of the fresh grilled shrimp complemented the dish perfectly. All our meals were beautifully presented, and the owner and sous chef each came to our table inquiring how we liked our meal! I was very impressed they took such pride in their work.
Dessert... it was to die for. The flourless chocolate cake teased the palate even though we were already full, and the cheesecake--made from scratch (no store bought frozen stuff), was worth every calorie. The price of entree's varied but hovered around 16-18 dollars. Worth every penny! This place far exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend them highly for a dining experience when visiting Rapid City or the Black Hills area.
