Piece Of Cake

I was from out of town and looking for an awesome cake for my daughter's birthday in Rapid City. I stumbled upon Piece of Cake and decided to try their Almond Poppy Seed Cake with an almond ganache, It was so good and just melted in your mouth--I've not be able to find a recipe that even comes close to it. This is THE cake to order from Piece of Cake, especially if you like the rich flavor of Almond.

We highly recommend Piece of Cake. They are extremely helpful, very friendly, the cake they made for us was beautiful, a delight on the taste buds and was priced reasonably. They even found a custom cake pan for us so we could have the exact shape we wanted. Highly recommend.

Would not recommend this place to get a wedding cake. Very expensive. Our cake had colored frosting. $35 for food coloring. Frosting tasted bad and had white streaks. They even gave us a different flavored cake than we ordered! The ribbon on my cake was soaked in butter and didn't look good. They wouldn't deliver and didn't put the cake in a box when we picked it up. Also I had to decorate my own cake!!! The cake we sampled was amazing. That's not what we ended up getting. Most of the cake was thrown away.

They would not deliver the wedding cake for some reason, so I picked it up the day of the wedding it did NOT come in a box or anything to protect it. When the lady put it in my car she rubbed her whole stomach into the cake. I was really upset and will never go back to this bakery.

RUDE!!!! Its not fun to hear the owner talk bad about you and your wedding. She should know that her voice does travel, and when you are upstairs in the bathroom for the customers, you can hear her downstairs.

If you are not the bride that paid the most $$$$ for your wedding cake that weekend the owner will ignore your phone calls. I had the sit down went over the design with the owner Connie, paid for the wedding cake and then she refused to take my call to make sure all the details were covered. I went down to Piece of Cake saw the owner she walked past me, through her dining room and down the stairs to the bakery part, I asked the girl at the counter if I could speak to Connie, she went downstairs and then said Connie is not here today. I said ok. I went and called Piece of Cake on my cell from their dining room, asked for Connie the girl put me on hold and heard Connie say "I'm tired of talking to these damn brides" I was then told Connie was not in. As soon as she has cashed your check she won't talk to you.

I planned a very private NON ADVERTISED wedding. While, my cake was good and the design, as hoped--all my private information from WHO to WHEN was divulged by the owner of this location! For this reason I would not suggest it to anyone.

Piece of Cake is a great bakery! The best part? The product. Their chefs are REALLY talented offering tastey cakes and pies for a great price. I really enjoy their apple and pumpkin pies. Other popular favorites include their famous chocolate cake (VERY tastey) and their ice cream cakes (to die for!). Their selection is wide, so, you can find any cake you want already made and ready for purchese. The store itself is a nice cool temperature and it's freshing. It's very clean and since it's a smoke free enviroment, it smells nice! If you would like a custom pie or cake, it can be done at a first low price. Usually, this can be done in about 3 hours, very prompt and fast and can help solve any last-minute crises of finding a cake. Prices are great, very cheap for the quality offered here. Finally, employees are friendly and helpful and are generally social. Great little store!
