.

At first Preferred Management seemed to be like the right landlords for us. We rented a cute little unit and it had been made clear to us that they had just taken over that property, so understandably there was some confusion about keys, repairs needed, etc.

However, about 3-4 months into our lease we got some upstairs neighbors. There were a few problems with noise and fighting late at night, but we would just call the police and notify the property manager and be on our way. Then we got some new upstairs neighbors (previous neighbors subletted the unit). We have yet to have a week where we don't have to call the cops. When my husband called the manager to report these constant calls (now mind you, PM LLC has a clause in their lease stating if the cops are called twice to your unit you are evicted) she seemed to have no clue who was living up there.

The property manager just doesn't seem to care! At one point we called her on the "two strikes and you're out" clause and she just gave this "well you don't know what it takes to evict someone" excuse. The back door to our building has been kicked in due to the people upstairs! Maintenance came out to look at it and filed a police report and it still remains broken nearly 3 months later.

The worst is we came home one day to find the water to the building completely shut off. She hadn't paid the water bill in 3 months!

When our lease ended we started looking for a new place. When another company called for a reference, the landlord took it upon herself to call my husband a "remind" him that we are "obligated" to give a 60 day notice before we move. We have fulfilled our lease and are month-to-month currently and considering the circumstances I was shocked to hear that we are being held to this rule.

We found a nice place to move to and 60 day notice or not, we are out of there this weekend. THANK GOD!
