My fianc purchased my engagement ring from the Jared in Franklin. It was absolutely beautiful. A couple days after I had it, I was looking at it closely and I noticed there was a scrape across the edge of the diamond on one side. So I took it in and they confirmed that the scrape must have been done when the diamond was mounted. They were very apologetic at first and assured us they were going to find a wonderful replacement that was as good- if not better than the diamond we originally purchased. We live over an hour away so they stated when they received diamonds that were equivalent to mine they would give us a call and we could go check them out. We ended up taking about 8 or 9 trips out there over a period of 8 months and every time they showed us diamonds that were less quality than the one we had purchased. Tammy and Brianna were the managers we dealt with in particular. They kept saying how they were trying so hard to find the right diamond, but all they ever did was beat around the bush. I had to persistently call nearly every two weeks to find out what was going on. Towards the end, I was honestly so tired of driving out there and being disappointed, that I just settled with the last diamond they showed me. They claim the diamond I have is much better quality than the original, but I absolutely disagree! You can see inclusions with the naked eye, and I couldn't even see them in my original one under a 10X microscope! You don't have to be a "gemologist" to notice the difference! This place claims they care about customer satisfaction but I do not believe it for a second. The whole situation a nightmare and if I had to go back, I would have asked for my money back in the first place and went somewhere else!

What makes me the most upset is that you know they noticed the diamond was damaged and they sold it to us anyway- hoping we wouldn't see it. Then, they assured us they would find us a replacement that was as good-if not better and they failed to do so. They seem to think that I wanted something better than the original, but all I wanted was something that was at least comparable. My diamond was a square, 1 carat, G, VS2. They NEVER ONCE showed me a square, 1 carat, G, VS2. It was either a different shape, less clarity, or it was an H or an I in color.

I hope that no one else ever has to go through this sort of ordeal over something that has sentimental meaning that you spend your hard earned money on - hoping for a quality product. That is the only reason I am writing this review. I WOULD NEVER recommend the Jared in Franklin. If you want a quality diamond from people who care, then I would suggest taking your business elsewhere!

Regarding the mix-up on the moissanite/diamond. Is it possible that you were duped and the 3rd reviewer realized that perhaps it was better to let you go on believing it was a diamond?

I am not saying it was not a diamond. I would think about it though. I was at a jewler today and said moissanites look a lot like diamonds. 20/20 did an expose on swindlers switching out real diamonds for fakes. Have you left your ring any where lately.

Just some food for thought. I'm not judging you or Jared's.

On August 29, 2009 my fiance and I visited Jared's to shop for wedding bands and engagement rings. I had also brought an engagement ring from a previous marriage to see if it could be traded with Jared's. The setting had been purchased there but the diamond from a broker. A woman said she would have her jeweler examine the stone in order to determine a trade value. We continued shopping for about fifteen minutes until she returned with the ring. She said her jeweler had determined that the stone in the setting was NOT a diamond but was in fact a moissanite, a synthetic stone with little value. I informed her that at one time there was a certified appraisal on the stone and that I had recently presented it to two different brokers for possible sale. Both brokers examined the stone and determined that it has a significant value (five figure). Another woman at Jared's placed the stone under a microscope and studied it for several minutes without comment. She, as the first woman did, said that these things happen and she was sorry that I had been given a ring with an artificial stone. A moment later a gentleman came over and examined the stone under the same microscope and then digitally tested the stone for heat emittance with three different detectors. He looked at both women and sternly informed them that it was a diamond before walking away. My fiance and I asked how they first represented that it was an artificial stone without the same examination the gentleman performed and we were told that that was why they passed it to two or three others in the store in order to "make sure" that the stone was diamond or synthetic. Their condescending attitude changed to an apologetic one as we left the store with the feeling that the women and their jeweler, did not did know the difference between a diamond and an artificial stone. We feel as if the woman had attempted to take advantage of us and had hoped that we would buy their rings and tell them to keep the "artificial" stone after trading the setting. It is unfortunate that a jewelry store like this one has either a jeweler and certain members of their sales staff that do not know a real diamond when they see and examine one or that they possibly tried to misrepresent my diamond in an attempt to take advantage of us. We will never return and we will also discourage anyone from doing business with them.

Jared Galleria of Jewelry is located in the Cool Springs section of Franklin. I went to this store looking for a wedding ring and they have a uniformed security guard at the front door which made me feel uncomfortable. After entering the store I had five different sales people ask me if I need help which I did not find helpful but rather off-putting. I walked out because I did not want everyone standing over my shoulder like I was going to steal something.
