We were first told this would be about a 1 hour trip. NOT!!! There is so much to do here that my kids could stay here for hours. My husband and I even found ourselves having tons of fun too!

5 Stars: Excellent discoveries! (by Shannon O.)

My kids love visiting the Creative Discovery Museum. They have an incredible water system just inside that invites the kids to roll up their sleeves and gete into the fun right off the bat! Their other exhibits are nothing to sneeze at, either- they have an excellent music center that invites budding musicians to investigate all kinds of instruments. If you are looking for a day of fun and learning with your children, don't miss checking them out!

3 Stars: Fun time-very dirty. (by Clay P.)

We took my three year old daughter to spend a day at the museum. She had a fabulous time and didn't want to leave! There were lots of experiments and hands on activities for her age and I think she will get even more out of it when she gets older. However, as a parent, I hated to let her touch anything because it all looked so filthy! And you know if you can actually see the dirt, then it must be pretty bad. The worst was in the preschool room where they have a play kitchen. She loved it in there, but I was horrified. We actually went thinking we might sign her up for a playgroup that meets there weekly, but after seeing that room-we won't be joining. I was sure she was going to get sick after visiting, but she didn't. She wants to go back, but I think I'll wait until she gets older and then maybe the lack of cleanliness won't bother me so much.

5 Stars: A great place for kids. (by Heather F.)

The Creative Discovery Museum is a wonderful place to take your kids for an afternoon. They have so many activities, that your kids can't get bored. Between digging for fossils, playing with water & making inventions your kids won't want to leave. They even have a section just for toddlers to play in.
My daughter loves the art section where she can paint, color & do craft projects. We recently attended a birthday party at the museum & could not believe how great a job the staff did. By far, it's one of the our favorite places in Chattanooga.

PROS: Fun & safe entertainment for children
CONS: Traffic & parking

4 Stars: Fun and Educational (by jennifer c.)

This place is great and relatively inexpensive for all you get. They have crafts and fun exhibits like the mayfield ice cream exhibit and Arthur as well as a honeybee exhibit. These change with the seasons.

Lots of schools have field trips here. You can have a birthday party here as well.

My daughter has been in the play gym classes and she was not the only one to make friends. This is a weekly class with each class being a different age. This was a way for us to be around other mothers and kids. They do a craft project and play with musical instruments, have a free period and do things like parachute.

4 Stars: Great place for hands on learning (by Shannon W.)

This is a great place for all of your little budding artists, scientists, Dr's or engineers. Whatever your child's interests, they'll find something here they like. Your kids will be thrilled when they're told that it's okay to touch everything in the museum, in fact it's encouraged. Many children learn by touching and experimenting with things and this is where they can do it.

My daughter, niece and nephew all especially love the music room. In this room there's all types of drums, xylophones and things they can bang on to their hearts content, and believe me they do have fun in there.

They have many activities from story time given by a person dressed in animated Mother Goose costume to the huge dinosaur dig where kids can go and use the brushes they're given to find real looking fossils in a huge sand pit next to a dinosaur skeleton.

There are also art activities where they can create things and places where they have an unlimited number of lego type blocks to create with, and neat machines with wheels they can turn and experiment with. They also have exhibits that change periodically with special things that interest kids. For example, right now they are having a Charlie Brown exhibit that really is exciting for kids. They have some new exhibits as well that include a bubble blower and a large factory for kids to explore and play with and climb around in.

Overall this is a fun and stimulating experience for your kids. I should also mention that for really tiny infants or toddlers that are intimidated by the bigger stuff, they have a smaller contained room with lots of toys and playthings (mini toy kitchen, slide and mini tree house). You can sit in here to get a break and just let your kids have fun without worrying too much about them getting away or anything. As far as costs, it's $7.95 for adults and $6.95 for kids 2-12. If you want to do several things in the same day, (aquarium, imax movie, etc.), you can get discounted packages als

PROS: Lots of hands on activities and fun things to do for kids
CONS: Hands on everything means more germs, bring hand sanitizer
