I might not be the most unbiased judge, being an East Nashville resident, but the Alleycat Lounge never disappoints me. Whether it's Sunday brunch, dinner with friends, or the last stop on a long night out East, the food and service at the Lounge are always fantastic, and the pepperjack chicken sandwich is a must-taste for any visitors to town. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

Pros: Great food and service, and a cool bar.

Cons: Sometimes smoky

.

I just discovered that Alleycat smokes their own brisket right on the premises, in fact I discovered it because I was bar hopping in 5points and I could smell it all over the neighborhood. It drew me right in, I tried it and I'm hooked!!! It's the best brisket I've ever had and I'm meat & potatoes all the way so I've had my share of brisket. And they have a great patio too.

I've never been there to eat from the full menu but they have a great late night menu 'til 1am on the weekends and the nachos are fabulous, especially when you need to absorb some tequila after a few margaritas. I recommend the Pamarita, its the BEST!!!! Anyway my friends and I love to go to the Cat to dance. Its a small dance area (in fact they just move some tables aside to make room) but its usually not so packed that you step on toes but just busy enough that it feels like a really great party in someones garage. I say garage because it used to be a garage, it still has the concrete floors, exposed rafters, and even an engine hoist which I think is really awesome. The music is pretty awesome too and its on vinyl. The whole atmosphere is so NOT clubby or stuffy just casual and comfortable for real working adults as opposed to frat boys and sorority girls like downtown and west side.

Wow is the word to describe the food at alleycat. I went with a large group and we all ordered different things and tried each others food...THERE WASN'T A BAD THING ON THE MENU but my favorite appetizer would definately have to be the cheese dip, it was the best I've ever had. as far as entrees, the pepperjack chicken sandwich was tied with the cheeseburger. All made fresh to order which means it took a little longer to get our food than I'd like but WELL worth the wait! Also, the margaritas are the best in town and the service was excellent too. Oh and we stayed late only to find out theres dancing and quite a party after the dinner hour. I LOVE THIS PLACE

This is a great place for a late-night hang. There is smoking inside but you can almost always find a table outside on the front or back patios. What gets me coming back again and again is the black and white bean dip which is the ying/yang of bean dip served with multi-colored tortilla chips, to die for! The nachos are good too, basically I have enjoyed everything I have tried, including the fried avocado, very rich but excellent! The servers are attentive and friendly. I love coming here after a concert or event and having a drink and enjoying the music and food. If you are looking for a fun, cool place to hang out, this is it!

Alleycat is good, but not great. The cheese dip is awesome and its worth going just for that. Other than the cheese dip , Allycat is a bit overpriced for average food. The drinks aren't cheap either. The wait staff has always been nice. My order has frequently been wrong, but they did their best to make up for it. I say go at least once, but don't have high expectations.

The Alley Cat Lounge is a Tex Mex bar and restaurant in East Nashville near the Five Points area. It is located, as you could guess by the name, off of an alley. The homemade tortillas chips help me keep my mouth shut

The Alley has got to stand for Bowling Alley not Alley at. The food was horrible, to start things off we had all ordered drinks and the service was good, a older gentlemen and nic young lady waited on us. The food however was just plain bad. We had nacho's and burrito's and the food was just poor quality, the meat they used was greasy and it lacked taste and the portions were average.

Would never go there again, plus people were smoking and children were dinning in the restaurant, I thought Tennessee had a no smoking law in restaurant that were not 21 and up??

I am a restaurant manager and a friend to the owners and managers of the Alleycat. I am writing in response to a recent review....I know the owners DO NOT approve of rude staff and would be mortified to know that their customers were treated badly and would do whatever it took make it right if given a chance, but when customers dont make us aware of problems, we cant fix them. So, on behalf of restaurant managers everywhere, PLEASE ask for a manager whenever and wherever you have a bad experience. BTW, I think Alleycat has a fabulous staff and AMAZING food!

My friends and I love supporting local entrepreneurs, so we love most of East Nashville. That being said, the last few times I have gone to The Alleycat, the wait staff either made fun of us behind the bar (no, I am not joking), or we gave up on even being greeted by a server after seating ourselves and flagging them down, and walking to the bar to ask for service for 30 minutes (no... I am not exaggerating), or they tell me they are out of every beer and appetizer I want (the last is more understandable, but this has happened MANY times...). As it may sound, I have given this bar many chances, but no more. I think they try to cater to their 'regulars' more than anything, and being that I have been there about a dozen and a half times, and that doesn't make me a sub-par member 'o the club is astounding. Go to this place if you are dying of hunger and thirst. These people will gladly watch you keel over and make comments about your clothes, and how funny your face looks while you do.

My girlfriends and I went to the Alleycat for dinner and didnt leave until they kicked us out. The food was fabulous, (I recommend the Tortas sandwich) the service was amazing, and I had the best margarita north of the border, actually it was called a pomarita (pomagranite flavored)!!! Then we danced to 80's music on vinyl until we couldnt dance anymore. I must say it was one of the best times I've ever had in Nashville.

I work in East Nashville and decided to give this place a try for lunch. I got in and seated very quickly. Within five minutes I had a drink and had ordered lunch, a cheeseburger. Thirty-five minutes later I asked the server how much longer it would be. She said it should be right out. Well, I never got my food. Fifty-five minutes after arriving I had to head back to work without eating lunch. The rub is that the server had an "oh, well" attitude about it and still charged me for my Coke. I won't be going back.

I've been going to The Cat for at least 2 years, and it use to be a weekly stop for me and my boyfriend. However the incredible Chicken Sandwich has gone from French bread to Wonder bread and you definately no longer want to order to go food! We use to order out from there ALL the time and last 3 or 4 times we have, it's been a real disappointment. We had nachos with stale chips and they tried to give me ranch dressing with the jalepeno corn cakes when it ALWAYS comes with cheese dip, and when i called back they told me that it always came with ranch?!?! I was so annoyed that we still stop by occassionally when we can't think of anywhere else to go, but it's no longer our favorite spot. (and we definately don't order out here either)

i recently tried out the alley cat with a few friends of mine. the food was amazing and the service was excellent. all the waitresses in the place were so happy and chatted it up with everyone. It was a little crowded, but our food came out promptly and was beautiful. the burger and the spinach enchiladas were both amazing. we had some cheesecake and coffee for desert, and it was one of the best anywhere! even the coffee was above average. our waitress was extremely kind and told us to come back soon. we definitely will!!!!!! thanks alley cat!

Alley Cat's is one my favorite east Nashville restaurants. Great eclectic atmosphere, good service and absolutely the best tex-mex enchiladas in town. They have a great menu, but I can't help but ordering the same thing everytime I go! It's also a great place on the weekends, early evening. We've always walked right in and gotten a table, it doesn't seem to get crowded until later. Parking is a little challenging.

I must admit, when we entered this BAR we almost walked right back out. I was not prepared for the multi-colored hair patrons, and rustic bar amosphere, but was determined to try the food, and settle into the atmosphere. I ordered the margarita after reading the rave reviews, and then the disappointed reviews. I have never had such a horrible "tequila"rita in all my life! It was probably four shots of tequila in a salted rocks glass, probably no juice or mixers of any kind, I will never do that again. We ordered the beef brisket fajita, took around fifteen minutes-perfectly acceptable time frame! We were beyond thrilled with the quality of the food. It was beautifully presented and served with a side of 3 tort's. I must admit I was a bit surprised that there were no rice nor beans etc. We asked for additional torts for $1. Two of us split one fajita, and were full (terrific drunk as well)! The bar was decorated for Halloween with various dirty mutalated dolls hanging from the ceiling, with cigars in their mouths. Quite shocking for some I would say. I don't know if the single black rose stuffed in vases filled with black sand were for Halloween, but if I had to guess I would say, they are not festive, but atmospheric decor! Basically we LOVED it, will go back, but I didn't want the eclectic atmosphere to make one shy away from the wonderful food and great music we did enjoy. I will try another drink next time with a juice or mixer of some type. (Honey was so wasted he rolled his fajita beef in his napkin instead of a tort at one point....lol)! We had a bit of trouble finding the restaurant-it is on the Stadium side of the city just past the river-super easy if you follow first avenue through downtown bearing right, cross the bridge, look to the right about the second light after the bridge. Look for it hanging over the city atop the hill, with the windows propped open out!

1st time there today for sunday brunch. i was pleasantly surprised at the unique atmosphere, eclectic crowd, and funky delicious food. the menu was somewhat limited for my boyfriend who is not very adventurous when it comes to food. might be nice to have something basic like bacon and eggs for those who arent sure what chorizo is. we will be going back to try out the patio and the regular menu. i did take note of the lack of patron on the liquor shelf, that is definately a negative for me.

In the beginning, it was a young eager restaurant with consistently excellent margaritas, friendly wait staff, involved owners, and an overall happening happy hour/ dinner environment. The food has always been below average (with the exception of the excellent queso) but the margaritas and ambience made up for it. Within the last year, I have just been disgusted with the rude service, the apathy of the bartenders, and the long wait for a very basic meal. Well, surely I thought, they can't mess up their famous margarita? Oh, yes they can and now they do on a regular basis. Alley Cat used to be my stomping ground but now I cannot say enough about how it is going downhill. What happened Cat? We miss you.

Although the back patio is dark and the service was extremely slow, the food made it more than worth the wait. The enchiladas and the fried avacado (don't be scared of it) are delicious. This off-the-beaten-path restaurant has character and good food, if not great service. The poor service could have been limited to that particular night. I recommend it for anyone who is laid back and wants to try something different.

Pretty nice place with a good vibe but the kitchen needs help. The "bowl" of soup we had was barely enough to be called a small cup. The nachos were okay bu didn't have many toppings.

The selection of beers was pretty good but the liquor selection was poor.

But the place was crowded with lots of people having a good time.
