My employment with Ms. Petie Wilson began in October of 2008. To save others the same grief and awful experience of working for this agent, I hope my review provides enough insight to help anyone make an informed decision on their next phase of employment if insurance is a career path for you. This should also clarify the problem another reviewer had when working with Ms. Wilson.

I have worked for a variety of companies and have had very pleasing professional relationships I still carry forward today, both in and out of insurance. I cannot in good faith say anything of the sort for Petie Wilson at State Farm Insurance. The mentality you can very easily come across with this agent specifically is a "pass the buck" mentality. Very often (not always), employees in this office are blamed for inconsistency in managing accounts and providing timely service to existing and future clients. The reason for this (that I discovered over several weeks of trying to work for her) is very clearly the agent's inability to provide any level of consistency when communicating with her staff.

Ms. Wilson very rarely accepts responsibility for any of the mistakes in her office. It is more likely an employee will be blamed for any and all faults of the agent when the fault is clearly the agent's alone - certainly convenient but should be entirely transparent as well. Training is passed on to Ms. Wilson's management staff at the Agency Field Office, yet none of this training is reinforced or followed-up on by the agent. In most cases, the agent's instruction on any longterm project is only good for half a day at most before the agent issues other instructions for that task that often leave one to ask: "What does she want me to do?" We all encountered this problem to varying degrees on a consistant basis in her office.

Ms. Wilson has been an insurance agent for over 20 years. In that time, she has acquired a great deal of knowledge on insurance and appears to work very well with her clients in person. But she appears to have no respect for the people that diligently work for her, on or off the clock. Be aware that if you go to work for this agent, you will join the many others (at least five in the past two years including myself) who have tried to meet her expectations. The workload itself is reasonable but requires a level of management that this agent is incapable of or unwilling to perform. The only "open-door policy" in this office is, "Enter at Your Own Risk," so expect the worst if you have a concern.

My employment with Ms. Wilson is over, and I couldn't be more grateful for that. The issue was a question concerning compensation and credit for work I performed for her, and her behavior was nothing short of erratic from the moment I asked if I would receive any credit or compensation for my effort.

Employment is a relationship of trust, mutual respect, and dependability. Best of luck to anyone who hopes to make a career with State Farm working for Petie Wilson. For my part, I am moving on to much better things, with or without State Farm Insurance.

Best regards,

Shaun S.

When we moved from out of state, we were given this Agent's number as a State Farm agent in our new area. When we first called, it took about a week to get any kind of quotes worked up for us, but with being so busy with the move, it wasn't the highest on my list of concerns. The agent stated that she emailed me some quotes but they were never sent until after the third time I requested them.

When we bought our house and needed homeowners, the price really was not competitive with what we were finding elsewhere and we were told that even with the price, that was not full-replacement cost. The paperwork is always very hard to read and it does take a bit for the agent to call back. the whole office talks in circles when you ask a question and you never really know what s going on until you actually see a physical bill. Ironically, the agent is now a neighbor down the street from us, but if she weren't, we probably would be looking for a new State Farm Agent.
