Whoever is responding to all these negative reviews is just validating how awful the the customer service is. I was not impressed with the cabin I stayed in. While Bear's Lair was beautiful, it was not clean and a lot of what I payed for did not work properly. Not impressed and won't be renting any of their cabins again.

stayed at the eagles nest sept.2012 mouse droppings on counter in drawers,dead mouse in whr the hot water heater is along with paint cans,plastic hangers,baggies,etc.airconditioning wasnt working properly due to battery needin changed,no fire exchingusher.smoke alarm didnt work for we burnt a bag of popcrn,sinks clogged up,some of the dishes were dirty,had to buy a pot to cook in which i left,big jug in corner shattered, they had a chair in frnt of it so wouldnt be noticed,only 2 pool sticks with tips.already garbage in cans, hot tub didnt have any chemicals,and the grill was shot.we complained the next day said they would send someone out we asked for them to wait to enter the cabin until we got back which they did not and only removed the broken jar. they said they would send us something for a few free nights stay,havent seen a thing.this was a very unsafe cabin should be updated or removed frm the registry.i do have plenty of pictures!

This was our third stay with Aunt Bug's and we were not disappointed. Everything about the cabin was perfect and our family of four, two adults and two children, enjoyed our stay. We will book with Aunt Bug's again in the future!

Although I did not have anything to do with the reservation part of the trip as my mother in law took care of that part for us I was a part of staying there for the duration of our trip. My mother and father in law checked in a couple days before we did so I can't speak for what the cabin looked like upon arrival but I do know what it looked like when we arrived. First off the road was a very windy back woods country road. We drive a Ford Excursion and it was all we could do to manage to get to the cabin because of the size of our vehicle. Once there parking was very limited due to the fact that there was 3 vehicles needing to be parked in what little space we had oh and not to mention its on the side of a hill (but it's a cabin right ha guess that's where they're all at). Once out of the vehicles on the exterior we noticed the flower beds were a mess and there were huge rocks on the walkway into the house aside from the fact that there was no yard! One of the pictures shows a nice front yard so we brought the kids bicycles with us ha they never got to ride them because well there is no yard all we had was a little bit of a steep hill. Also, my husband and I was going to use the hot tub one night only to open the cover to find it had white stuff floating in it yuck we covered it back up and went inside. The jacuzzi tub in the "master" bedroom was also nasty not to mention it didn't have some kind of tile or lenolium placed around it so you didn't get the carpet wet. The other bedroom had a tv and a full shower, whereas the "master" bedroom didn't have a tv and only had a stand up shower (guess that's a con of having the jacuzzi tub in your room you get a small shower ya). Speaking of the stand up shower the water pressure was horrible. My daughter took a shower first and her hair is only halfway to her shoulders and it took us forever to get the shampoo out of her hair. I myself have long hair so you can about imagine how long it took for me to get mine washed out. Also the night the kids used the jacuzzi tub after they were done we had to wait almost 2 hours before we could take a shower due to the fact that just using the tub one time had completely diminished our hot water. Maybe they should invest in seperate hot water heaters. I myself would not pay the kind of money we did to stay there again because on top of all that all we really got was a house with wood siding to make it look like a cabin oh and maybe a few "cabin like" decor pieces. Not what I expected at all!

I recently drove my grandmother, mom and great aunts to Gatlinburg for a Gospel concert weekend and stayed at "Above It All" for a long weekend. The cabin was in a beautiful area, secluded and the hot tub was clean and very relaxing! The cabin was large with plenty of space, all of the appliances worked fine and it was clean enough given the mountain environment. The beds and bed linens were not very comfortable, but that was a small thing. The largest factor that prevented a higher rate for me was the drive to the cabin. Though I probably should have expected this from the name "Above it All," this cabin is WAY up on a little mountain road. As you go up the tiny drive way there is a very very sharp hairpin turn or maybe it's called a switchback. Regardless, it's quite a precarious drive for a group of ladies to make. I know I should have asked or known...but I feel like somewhere on the website or when we reserved the cabin this could have been mentioned. We got used to the drive and made it up and down many times daily with only a couple of scrapes from the rock face of the mountain on the bumper. Someone used to driving in the mountains would probably have no problems with it. However, it wasn't all that comfortable to drive there - especially at night - for this group of ladies.

We spent a week at Aunt Bugs cabin; "( Bearway to Heaven 1318) and had the most wonderful experience. Freshly decorated and instead of two bedrooms it had three; all the amenities you could want; Game table; Juke box; standup video arcade with 60 different games; pool table; hot tub. Lots of old time board games and a flat screen TV in every room with a bunch of DVD;s and a complete computer/ wireless system throughout the house..
No reason to go down the mountain once your their; beautiful view of MT LeConte, 2700 feet up/ And the best thing was instead of being decorated like every other cabin it had a Hard Rock Cafe theme with guitars in cases hung on the wall and each room in a different Rock stars motif; very unusual and extraordinary; have to see it to believe it; And it seems the cabin is on a Cull D sac ; on the mountain and on top of that on its own little mountain; very secluded; nobody passing by or coming up their unless they have to; just such an experience. Plus the help at Aunt Bugs was first rate; Just what you want on a vacation ; no problems and no reason to leave; everything they have in Gatlinburg is already in the cabin for us to use; cant wait to go back; plus very economical rated price wise compared to the other Chalets.

We stayed at Aunt Bugs cabins from 12-26-11 thru 12-29-11, we rented two seperate cabins for our stay...most horrible experience ever!!! The cabins were both filthy, the first cabin Miracle Mountain View had soo much mildew in the showers that we were forced to shower in flip flops, as the mold & mildew would run down the doors when the water hit it. The bed we slept in had some sort of sand like particles on the flat sheet, the bedroom the grandparents were using had "hairs" on the sheets!! The children slept in their clothes to avoid the filth that was under the covers.The second cabin Life of Luxury was twice as filthy as the first, this one came with a wet and I do mean fresh spot that I believe to be vomit on the center of the king bed in the main bedroom off of the kitchen. We reported this immediately, They never called us back or sent anyone to investigate this complaint!!Two of the TV remotes were missing,the handle on the refrigerator door was loose, foosball table was broken, pool sticks were broken, hot tub had one jet that worked, but the cover of it shot off if you turned it on, the air hockey table was missing the trim so the puck would get lodged in the sides or shoot off of the table if used. We reported all of these issues to the management and all they did was add an extra charge on to my bill for alegedly using six bedrooms or a fold out couch, they aren't sure of their exact story! They were completely rude and the most dishonest group I have ever dealt with. I would strongly encourage anyone to avoid them at all costs. I have never filed complaints or posted anything on these sites, but I honestly hope to spare someone the expense, loss of valuable family vacation time and the headache of fighting the false charges that seem to apply to most guests!!! Pitching a tent would be better than a stay with this company! I WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN THEM ONE STAR BUT THE SITE REQUIRES A RESPONSE.

I cancelled my reservation according to their policy. I am entitled to a refund. They add trip insurance without your knowledge and expect you to "catch it" to then call them to cancel it. (This is what the lady said to me when I called to find out where my refund was.) Then tell you since you had the trip insurance that they will no longer refund your money. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They are liars, then argue with you on the phone!

We stayed at The Shamrock Lodge and loved the cabin itself. We were however disappointed after paying $180 per night and expecting the luxury cabin as it was advertised. They are in desperate need of a cleaning lady and maintainance man! Only 1 of the 2 showers worked so 7 people were required to share the 1 shower. The jets on the tubs were so dirty we were afraid to use them. The jets on the outdoor hottub barely worked. The fireplace in the master did not work nor did any of the lamps as the lightbulbs were blown or missing. The sofa bed was also broken. There were mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers so cooking was out of the question. Most of the lightbulbs were blown or missing which made it very dark. There was food on the porch near the trashbin. There was not enough towels or washcloths so we were required to wash them each day. The rug had not been vacuumed and the kitchen table had food crumbs on it. The games in the loft were cheap and hardly worked. Very disappointed with our stay!

Our group of thirteen adults (all 30+) stayed in the Redneck Ritz over Memorial Day Weekend. The cabin was infested with ants, but we made it work...made sure we kept food in the refrigerator and cleaned often. We had a quiet and peaceful stay, spending most of our time sitting in the jacuzzi or watching movies. We called ahead to find out if the TV was HDMI ready and were told they were older TVs, not flatscreens. So brought our own flatscreen TV and Blueray player with us. The day after checkout, with no explanation at all, my account was charged $384. I called to find out why and was told by Rachel that it was because we had "picked the buttons" off of one of the TVs. When I told Rachel we didn't even touch the TV, she told me our kids must have done it. When I told her we didn't have any kids, she said then it must have been an accident of some sort....how do you accidentally pick the buttons off of a TV?? Thankfully, two of the couples in our group are attorneys, so we have good advice to follow. Unfortunately, it was a really nice cabin (sans the ants) and our plans to rent it again next Memorial Day Weekend have been foiled by shady business practices.

Aunt Bugs, I know you need to replace your TVs, but charging your customers $400 for a ten year old TV is not just wrong, its laughable (and we think a small claims court judge would agree). We didn't use the obsolete television and we certainly didn't break it. We don't believe that you can a) prove that we did and b) prove that it was worth $400.

Anyone who is considering this cabin or rental company, I strongly suggest that you take pictures when you arrive to assist you later should you need to dispute bogus damage claims. Also, there have been other horrible reviews of this rental company on several sites. Do you research before you make your reservation.

It was a very nice cabin, but you get one star for trying to swindle us!

Splash Mansion, nicest cabin Ive seen online. Booked it for my family in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Annual trip was loads of fun for kids

PROS: Clean, Sweet view!, Close to Attractions, Kids lovd it
CONS: check in Pigeon forge, had to leave

My children enjoyed their visit to the Smokies and I wanted to let people know Aunt Bugs Cabins does a fine job in providing vacation homes. One of their staff members went above the call of duty when we had a family member fall ill and needed to find a local clinic. Their staff treated us like their best customers and appreciate their service. Our cabin was very clean by the way. You will be impressed with the mountain views from your cabin. I highly recommend this Aunt Bugs company

Stayed in 'gone swimming'
Mattresses came over on the Mayflower. Bedspreads were ripped,linens old. Pillows, came over with the mattresses. Pans were non-stick 10 years and fifty scratches ago. Carpets stained. Hot tub cover tattered and in pieces which allows bugs. Grill was scary dirty. Got a laugh out of the envelope for tip for the cleaners! Up-date the beds, hot tub cover, clean it up and you would have a winner.

Just returned from a horrible trip to Tenessee. We rented the Bear's Lair from Aunt Bugs. Booking was a nightmare and we had to call for a confirmation. We also learned that the price wasn't correct because the website is so vague. Upon arrival and were so disappointed in both the customer service and the cabin. Although the cabin has been recently redecorated and is a beautiful cabin, it was dirty and we were unable to use ammentities that we paid for. On day one I ruined a load of laundry because the hot and cold lines were mixed on the washer. The dryer was also broken and took a day and a half to dry a load. The remainder of the trip we had to hang up our laundry all over the cabin to have dry laundry. I called every day and none of Aunt Bugs Agents ever apologized or fixed the issues. Then on day 3 the washer broke all together leaving a full load of laundy dirty and wet, with no way to dry it. Fun. BTW our family of six had NO clean socks or underwear at this point and an eighty dollar dress was ruined. They then informed us they were not spending any money on the appliances because they were being replaced on April 8th. They were willing to pay for us to do our laundry elsewhere. Fun. SO... No washer and dryer, DIRTY cabin, the master jacuzzi had three tubs full of black mold in the water so we gave up on that, and the "pet friendly" cabin had no place for the dog to go potty. Only a little flowerbed area that was mostly mud. Fun. Also, except for Adam, (I have no idea why he works there) they were all rude and had NO customer service. NEVER STAY AT AUNT BUGS. DO NOT CHANCE YOUR VACATION ON THE OFF CHANCE THAT YOU WILL BE THE LUCKY ONE WHO WON'T BE TREATED UNFAIRLY BY THIS BUSINESS. THE REVIEWS ARENT WRONG! We are so upset by the fact that they didn't even try to make the situation better or refund any money for the trouble we endured. They lied to us for days promising a solution and they alredy knew that the owners refused to fix the issues. A 25$ gas card doesn't make driving home in dirty clothes with soiled dogs beds and three days worth of dirty laundry worth it. What a disappointment! While were there we checked into even the older motels and inns that had a much higher rating than Aunt Bugs. For 69$ a night you might not have a view, but I'm sure you get clean towels, beds, and friendy staff! What a dissapointment and so thankful to be home!

Had a great stay with some friends in the mountains w/ this company Aunt Bug's. I came back 2give a review here because I was curious what my stay was going to be like after reading a few of the negative reviews. One lady said she checked out late because of weather. They still discounted her additional night & she took the time to complain about them. Another lady complained about food crumbs under a table. I don't get it, BUT I can tell you the staff was helpful when I picked our cabin. We didn't have any major problems. Everything was pretty clean & when one of our TVs didn't work, we found out it was our mistake. We pressed the wrong TV/Video-input button, but their maintenance man came out to help anywy. So, nothing but good news about our cabin rental here. We recomend Aunt Bugs. I'm going back this Summer & getting one of their pool cabins!!! Fun fun

So sorry that I did research Aunt Bug's before we rented. Our DELUX cabin was so filthy that I refused to sleep there a second night. The bedding appeared to have urine stains and the couch was covered in old crusty food and mystery white stains. There was a large spiders nest on the curtain. Spider eggs and webbs were everywhere. The cabin was freezing when we got there so we turned on the gas fireplace. It made such a loud screeching sound that we immediately turned it off. The dishes that were in the cabinet had dried food on them. When I asked to a refund, I was told NO. Don't ruin you vacation-stay somewhere else. It's hard to believe that anyone would write a good review of this place, they must be written by Aunt Bugs staff.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights Jan 2011 and at first we were very happy the cabin was beautiful (which aunt bugs doesn't own or manage they just do bookings) we were scheduled to check out friday at 11 when we woke up it had snowed most of the night. My husband and I are both from florida and were a little worried about driving in the snow. we packed and cleaned and waited for the snow to melt we called Aunt bugs at our check out time of 11 to tell them that we were worried about driving down the mountain and the girl told us that if we didn't leave at check out they would HAVE to charge us for another night at a 60% rate long story short we waited till the snow had melted off the roads and left the cabin at 2:20 went straight to aunt bugs when we got there they had already charged our credit card for a full night (not 60%) they told us they didn't give refunds and that we knew when check out time it was. They were very rude and dishonest. We thought they would work with us if we were honest and upfront with them and they are not a company that shows any morals or compassion I was charged fullprice for a night I didn't book or even stay. I will never use them or suggest to anyone else to use them. Look for the private owners..

I just want to start by saying I was so worried about my vacation with Aunt Bugs Cabins that we almost canceled. Some of the reviews are really nasty and I was sick with worry. Thank gosh I did not cancel!! The staff at Aunt Bugs was amazing!! We stayed at Heavenly Hideaway and the cabin was beautiful. The only complaint I had was that the couch was dirty and broken. However, when I called they were so nice and wanted to send someone out right away to clean it and look at it. We were going out and I had my dog so I said not to worry about it. I have three teenage boys and they would sleep in mud if I let them. Anyways, they still sent someone out the next morning and he was really cool. Then I forgot to call when we left at 6am and remembered at 2pm so I was worried they were gonna charge me. Nope they were super nice about it and said don't worry. I would rent from this company again! We had a great time and loved our cabin!

6-8-2010 to 6-10-2010. We stayed at the American Dream 142. Cabin was cozy and clean and we really enjoyed the quiet and scenic setting. We had a problem following written directions to the cabin, but a local gentleman came to our aid and let us follow him to the location. Also we are renting another cabin in August and the map to it was no better. We ran across several other people wandering around lost. The company needs to work that problem out to make the experience less stressful for the customers. All the cabins look to be well maintained on the outside and ours was very clean. Overall I would highly recommend others to try this experience at least once.

Renters beware, the management company leaves a lot to be desired. God forbid one of your appliances don't work. If it can not be fixed by a vaccuum cleaner or a hairdryer you are out of luck!!

We loved our honeymoon at Aunt Bug's Cabin Rentals!!!!!The cabin was clean, private, & had everything we were looking for in our honeymoon!My wife made most the plans & said their staff were very helpful in setting up our reservation. Their rates seemed to be in line with other websites we went through. Aunt Bug's had the nicest selection of 1 bedroom cabins we researched in the Smoky Mountains. 2 thumbs up!!!We'll be back for our Anniversary :)

Absolutely worst management ever! I place a web reservation for 3 nights. I was later told that I would have to stay 4 nights due to special timing. After agreeing to the 4th day, I surprised my wife with the news of a vacation. She informed me that we could not go due to other plans being made. Auntbugs refused ANY kind of compromise. They told me that I could come stay for 4 days or not. Either way I was get ZERO refund. The time between maing the reservation and the cancellation request was no more than 1 hour. And since I made the reservation within the 30 days priot to arrival, I could not get ANY refund. It seems to me that if they are goign to have a 30 days policy, then they shoudl not be taking any reservations less than 30 days prior to arrival. And look at this little "screw you" tidbit in their policy....REFUNDS: No refunds will be made for breakdown or malfunctions of appliances (TV, VCR, air conditioner, heater, Jacuzzi, hot tub, etc.), acts of God, and no refunds will be made (because of weather) due to electrical power, water, cable outages, location of cabin, presence of insects, type of roadways or driveways leading to your cabin or in climate weather. Basically, the road could wash out or the cabin burn down, and they would keep your money anyway.

My wife and I recently stay at 1 of Aunt Bugs rental cabins ,and we were never so disappointed in our lives. this place was the dirtiest place you can ever imagine. there wer dead flies laying on the window sills,and cobwebs in every corner. the hot tub they promised was more like a oversized bath tub,and if thats not bad enough the sinks leaked and we couldn't use the dishwasher. there wasn't enough towels or wash cloths. If you're planning a vacation in the Gatlinburg area, save yourself some grief and rent from another company and be happy

WIsh I would have read the reviews for these cabins before I booked it!! Checking in was ok...however when we got to the cabin there was no playstation and no air hockey table as stated on the website. The sink was leaking under the cabinet and out into the kitchen floor. It took four calls and three trips from the maintenance guy before it was fixed (the day before we left...of course!). There were not enough washcloths, the cabin wasn't very clean (cobwebs everywhere, dead flies in the windows, nasty debris under the beds). The pull out mattress was thread bare with the springs poking through. The "river views" was a corner piece of a stream. Very unhappy and encourage people to look at other places to stay!!!

I have stayed with them several times. We had a great time and had a few 'pets' with Raccoons on the porch and bears in our trash! I have never stayed in East TN without seeing wildlife though.
The only problem that we had was that our cabin was supposed to have had swimming pool access. It did the first year that we had stayed in it, but after making it to our cabin and wanting to go swimming the second go around... we ended up being a run-around. Our pass to the Clubhouse was supposed to be at the clubhouse...we went to the clubhouse and were told there was no pass there and it must be at the main clubhouse in gatlinburg. It turned up to not be at either of these places. We called the cabin company back and they had finally told us that the owner did not pay the membership dues. They told us that they could provide us with a temporary card. My brother-n-law had to end up going to get the card. When he got back, I noticed that they gave us a two day pass for our eight day stay! One of those days, it had rained all day! I would just hate to see how much extra we had paid to have 'swimming pool access'.

Cabin was moldy, peeling paint, loose deck stairs and railing. No mountain view as promised. No microwave, office said they would bring one over but it never arrived. Pet stains all over the carpet despite $50 per pet fee which should pay for clean carpets. Complained to management who said they would contact us with an "adjustment" but have not heard from them in two weeks and I'm sure I never will. Bad cabins run by even worse management.

The phone call was made at 1700 hrs. I spoke to a very nice young lady and was told that the paperwork would be in the late arrival box outside the rental office. Well after a four hrs drive, both families, 4 children and 4 adults, ended up at Aunt Bugs rental office without anything in the rental box. We ended up spending the night at the Days Inn witch by the way was great. We should have stayed there the entire time. The night clerk at the Days Inn informed us that we were not the first Aunt Bugs visitors with check in problems.
The next morning I had the misfortune to meet the manager at the Aunt Bugs rental office. The jerk informed me that check in time was after 3pm. Unless we want to pay one extra night. I showed him the receipt from Days inn and told him that due to his mistake we had to pay to stay at a motel, but this lowlife could have cared less. He then asked if I had an e mail confirmation. I did not. And so they made us wait until 3 pm. I asked to speak to his boss but was told that he was the man.
They have a no refund policy on their deposit. So we had no choice but to stay at Aunt Bugs or loose our deposit. If you stay in one of their cabins look under the deck were the hot tub is located. The one we had, besides the fact that it did not work properly, is getting ready to go down the mountain side including part of the deck. Also bring plenty of drinking water. There is so much sulfur in the water that it is impossible to cook or even brush your teeth with it. The chlorine and sulfur mixture made the hot tub smell like cat urine.
Aunt Bugs could be a great place, however the management just don??t give a hoot about the customers.
Worst place ever.

We have been visiting Gatlinburg for years and happened upon Aunt Bugs Cabins rentals. We have stayed in other "hotels" in Gatlinburg and we wanted something our kids stay in and have fun. This is the place. We have been several times, with and without the kids. Aunt Bugs is top notch. You will not be disappointed. Sure, you can stay with any one of the hundreds of cabin rental companies but you get what you pay for. If you don't mind walking around on dirty carpets or relaxing in Pepto Pink heartshaped hottubs with the people staying next door looking into your porch... just to save a buck or two...go for it...just more availability for my family to stay at a clean, well appointed, beautifully decorated cabin. We wouldn't stay with anyone else!

PROS: A cabin away from home...and its clean & beautifully decorated!
CONS: Vacation is never long enough!

We stayed at aunt bug's on our weekend away. Everything was so nice inside. It was very clean and elegant. We had a fireplace in the bedroom and in the living room. We also had a hot tub outside on the porch. I would love to go back and stay again.

Aunt Bugs Log Cabin Rentals is a pretty good cabin rental company. We have only stayed in their cabins one time, and I was not so impressed. I think that most cabins are nice, with all of the different companies, but this company charges cleaning and reservation fees. There are MANY other cabin rental companies that do not. However, this company has clean homes and we would stay here again.
