Wow! I loved it when I click on the 5th star is says "World Class" that is just how I would explain Becker's! This is my 1st review on any business. I just happened on this site by accident when I saw the bad review! I have been a customer of Beckers my entire life and I would have to say the reviews written cannot be totally accurate! I go in 1- 2 times a week , always looking over the shoulder of customers! They do a terrific job! Further, they always show you the cake and wait for an approval! I am most certain they would fix anything that you were not satisfied with! I am a sales rep and I use Beckers to make me money! Anytime I walk in an establishment with a "Beckers Box" I almost always seal the deal! The only complaint I have is there are not more locations as I travel from Knoxville to Bowling Green every week! I reccommed Becker's 110%!!!
I'm only 10, but i've loved this place since i first went at 3 yrs old. Today i'm going and i'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!! They totally understood me when i was little and said, "I would wike some of those, pwease." :-) Its my favorite bakery ever. The last time i went was 1 year ago. I totally reccomend Becker's.
My husband ordered a cake from this bakery based on some good reviews he read... so before someone else makes that mistake again... here's your warning!! I would give them a 0 star, but this made me select at least one.
We ordered a VERY special cake for his Mom & Dad's over the hill 50th birthday party. The cake was to be a highlight of the party, sort of an over the top/icing on the night! =) Well, it was far from that! We had our grandma pick up the cake while we finished the last minute details & when she dropped it off, my mouth dropped! The decorations looked like my 3yr old had done them. When my grandma got there to pick it up (around 1:30) they told her it wouldn't be ready until 3:30 and that they had not even started on it! This cake was suppose to have some very unique details and I couldn't believe at 1:30, they had not even started decorating the cake?!
If I could post pics here I would and you would drop your jaw as well at the awful cake decorating. I had to run to Kroger and buy another cake and go to Party City to buy some decor to put on top. When we called to try and take the cake back, they refused and also refused to give us any refund whatsoever! It almost ruined the night! When they refused to take it back, I ate a piece of the **$80** cake & it was VERY dry! Not great at all!!!
Anyway, those who have had good experiences with this place, I'm glad for you... if you haven't tried this bakery yet... DON'T!!!!!!
I had ordered cakes from them in the past and was pleased. Recently I went in to order mints for a baby shower. Because I did not order the cake from them they would not do the mints for me. I was a little surprised they did not want my business. I am glad they are not the only bakery in the Nashville area.
I have fond memories as a child receiving their sugar cookies in differerent colors, pink, yellow, blue and green. My Aunt Phronia would always give them to our family through the years even though we moved away to Texas. She kept that memory alive for me as a child growing up there in Donelson. Becker's is the greatest..
Thanks for the memories...
Becker's Bakery is convenient to Nashville. The bakery is always busy with customers putting in special orders for their famous cakes. The cakes are usually good, although the last one I had from there was a little dry and did not taste good the next day. They will also include mints for baby shower or wedding cakes. This adds a special touch. Becker's has been around for years and is very popular with Nashvillians.
I've been trading with Becker's Bakery since I was a young girl. My family traded with them. They make outstanding cookies, pies and cakes. In fact, they made my wedding cake, and did a great job. Their carrot cake is to die for. If you like pecan pies, this is the place; however, I warn you, if you want one during the holidays, YOU MUST ORDER IN ADVANCE. This is another storefront in my local community that I like to frequent and give my business. You won't be sorry! Give them a try.
PROS: Carrot Cake, Pecan Pike, Coconut Cake
CONS: nothing low cal, lol
I recently was in charge of a teachers luncheon @ our school and needed something simple, delicious, and in our budget- something that would also say how special our teachers are to all of us. The young lady at Beckers took the time to lay out several suggestions- I decided to go with some of their homemade cookies iced and individually decorated- what an awesome display it provided for the table- not to mention how wonderfully delicious they were!! \r
Thank you Becker's Bakery for helping to make our luncheon extra special. You took time to help out, though we did not spend a lot- but I, as well as, the teachers that were treated to that special treat will definitely order from you for all our future bakery needs!!!!\r
Can't wait to experience your pies and cakes for my holiday festivites!
I just ran across a review that wasn't 5 stars and all I could say is WOW! I wish I had the time and energy to tell of all the wonderful memories Becker's has been apart of in our famiy! All my birthday cakes, my childrens, and now my grandchildrens cakes have came from Becker's! Never to be dissappointed, but, each time quiet surprised! They seem to never change, but, when I request a 20 century cake! They always seem to pull it off! I cannot stress enough the value of family traditions! Without Becker's! I could never imagine!
With the holidays approaching~~
I do not want to forget how many times they have bailed me out of a pinch~time and time again I have called them the last minute because I cannot find time to bake a pie! They just say come on, that is why they are there!
Thanks for all our memories Becker's!
I've enjoyed Beckers for a while now. Lots of birthday and celebrations coming up. I'm not much of a cake person but they were helpful in helping me order a large batch of cookies and petit fours. They did an awesome job and has helped me out in a pinch when I did not want to bake...Thanks Beckers, you came through for me again and again!

Cons: Awful decoration
Brownies and Butter Cookies. That's all I have to say. I live in DC now, but when I visit my folks in Nashville, a stop at Becker's is always on the agenda. I've never been able to find a taste even close to as a amazing as their little treats. One bite takes me right back to my childhood. One suggestion would be to look into online ordering. I'd make great use of it.
Pros: Butter Cookies and Brownies
Cons: Too far away from me now:(
I've been going to Becker's Bakery since I moved to Donelson when I was 4 years old. It was always such a treat when my Mom would stop at Becker's for some butter cookie's! As an adult, I moved to Texas and had to give up Becker's or so I thought. One day I was really homesick and a package came from my sister who has remained in the Nashville area all these years. I was delighted to find 10 DOZEN butter cookies!! What a surprise and how wonderful it was to have those marvelous cookies. I closed my eyes, pictured my beloved Nashville, the fun and the wonderful smell of Becker's and for a little while I was back home...
Pros: The butter cookies are melt in your mouth good
Cons: It's slightly out of the way
I made to separate birthday cake orders (they werent identical) to be picked up on different days. I picked up the first and everything was fine. \r
I arrived to pick up the second one and it wasn't made. Reportedly, someone had not ""pulled"" my order because they thought that it was a duplicate. \r
So, I would suggest that you call the day before to make sure your order will be ready before you show up.\r
They made my little girl cry because she didn't have a cake! :(
Pros: Cake tasted OK
I have been getting my birthday ""pecan pies"" there for 25 years, not to mention the BEST petit fours in the WORLD
I was a frequent customer of the 12th ave location and was sad to see it go.\r
The donelson location is out of the way but a friend wanted a chocolate pie and for him, it was worth the trek to donelson. I was disappointed to hear that the donelson location didn't have meringue pies or cinnamon rolls like those at the historic location but never-the-less reserved a fudge pie. Reconfirming the morning of pickup before I made the journey, I was assured everything was in order. I arrived at 1200 as agreed upon, only to be told that they had sold out of fudge pies. My reserved pie was in fact not reserved. I received an empty apology but nothing that resembled sincerity.. no offer to have a complimentary substitute. ..nothing. Obviously repeat business is not a priority and I won't be returning.
Pros: fudge pies are tasty
Cons: customer service, location
I am a local caterer, who uses Becker's Bakery on a regular basis! Recently, I had an immediate need , their staff was friendly, understanding, and most of all accomodating. The cake that I purchased was a white cake with a delicious lemon filling, topped with a scrumptious icing( just a hint of lemon to compliment, but not overpower). I had so many compliments on the cake- one of the guest inquired if I made the cake- I confessed I did not- she ordered her twins that exact cake for their 9th birthday party ( Becker's accomodated her by having that exact cake shaped like a guitar/ and went out of their way to ornate it with High school Musical items!!).\r
I have read some of the other reviews; and have never experienced a poor product or unfriendly service. However, working with this establishment has been a blessing to my business; and I know without a shadow of a doubt, if there were ever a problem with my order, they would go out of their way to make it right ( even if they had to deliver it to you personally @ your function) .. I know from experience that this type of service will not be received from your local grocery store. Becker's Bakery is a family owned establishment and their reputation is what made them; as well as, keeps them in business 50 years later.. they want you to be THRILLED, if you give them the opportunity, which I am glad I have, and will continue to do!\r
Pros: Personal service, Great product
Cons: Not in my local area, but worth the drive
I ordered my son's 1st birthday cake from here. It was horrible. I took one bite and was done. The cake was DRY, DRY, DRY. I was very disappointed. I would not advise anyone to order a cake from Beckers Bakery. The staff was not helpful and the cake was horrible. I have had better luck at Kroger.
Cons: Dry cake, Less than helpful staff
I love Becker's. They always deliver great baked goods on time. I use them all the time. Especially birthdays. I have noever been let down by them.\r
Pros: Cakes are the best you'll ever get
Cons: Parking is not great
I went to Beckers Bakery in Donelson for my wedding cake. Not only did I get a GORGEOUS cake, but I got service as if I were family. I love the fact that people have been getting their wedding cakes from Beckers since the 1950s. It's a Nashville tradition. The cake tasted perfect, just like my wedding day!
Pros: great flavor, great service, beautiful cakes
I ordered my daughter's baptism cake a couple of years ago and it was just ok. The lettering was not as professional as I would have liked. Also, they have no images of the cakes they make in some kind of book and I had to bring in my own topper. I felt the service was more of a guessing game. I ordered my daughter's second birthday cake from Wal-Mart...a two-tier cake in beautiful colors and everyone said it tasted better and looked better. It would really benefit Beckers to have an image book of the cakes they make, especially specialty cakes.
Pros: Convenient Location
Cons: Mediocre Service
I also ordered my daughter's first birthday cake from Becker's and I have to say that they let me down. I chose Becker's over Publix or Kroger because of the history of the bakery and because my family has had good experiences with them in the past. When I picked up the cake, the flowers on the top were smashed and the colors were weak as if the coloring ran out before they were finished decorating it. When we actually ate the cake, it was VERY dry and the icing was ALL sugar. This cake was definatley not worth the money I spent on it and not worth the worry I spent over getting the perfect cake for my daughter's first birthday. Based on my experience and several similar reviews I have read, I will not order from Becker's in the future.
Pros: very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: parking, and DRY CAKE!
Oh such wonderful baked goods! My sister and I grew up in Donelson and had Becker's cakes for every birthday. And cinnamon rolls whenever possible. The cakes are still just a good...40 years later! In fact, my sister is driving from Murfreesboro to Donelson to get our ""shared"" birthday cake this year. They're simply the best I've ever tasted. After living 25 years in Texas, it's great to get a Becker's cake again!
Pros: delectible baked goods!
Cons: only that i live 50 miles away!
One of the special things my mom did for us growing up was getting a bakery cake for our birthdays. Not one from a grocery, a real bakery. I found Becker's when I moved to Nashville and have been able to carry on the tradition with my family. \r
I love their cakes, they are delicious. My friend got her wedding cake there, it was wonderful.\r
I highly recommend letting Becker's take care of all your bakery needs.
I grew up in Donelson and my family always got everything from Beckers Bakery. Their fudge pies are to die for! Today, I am 46 years old and I have continued the tradition of getting all my cakes and pies from Beckers. Their Orange Chiffon cake is the ultimate. I don't know what happened with the one lady who complained about the dry cakes. I think if she had said something to the owners they would have done something to correct it as their family reputation means alot to them I know. If you live anywhere in Donelson or Hermitage this should be your bakery of choice! Yes, the cookies are excellent as well. Having ""grown up"" with this bakery, it's a part of our family and will continue to be for however long it stays in business.
Pros: Childhood memories and delcious baked goods--family owned bakery, The BEST!
Cons: Parking can be a problem, but you can just go next door temporarily if needed.
I bought my daughter's 1st Birthday cake from here and it was SO Dry, my whole family and all the guests complained. I thought maybe they were having a bad day so i ordered her 2nd cake from there as well. No change. The icing was pure sugar and the cake was pure flour. It was horrible. The cookies they have placed out are always tasty. I would not recommend for cakes unless you like them very dry and flour like.
Pros: Great cookies, Staff nice, a peice of history
Cons: Parking, quality of cakes, expensive
Becker's has been the perennial staple in Donelson business community for a number of years now. Our business has used Becker's for all our corporate parties. I also use this bakery for all of my personal needs as well. The pink, green, and yellow butter cookies are simply the best!
Pros: Value, Expertise, Taste
I was born and raised in the Donelson / Hermitage area and we always got our birthday cakes from Becker's. Now that I have a child of my own, I am carrying on the tradition. Their cakes are wonderful and priced well also. Give them a try!
Pros: Taste, Value, Staff
Cons: None, None, None
