Food was good... but as soon as they brought it out I knew we'd have to pick up something else or eat leftovers at home.... Each item is priced individually... no salad with your food. My husbands plate had maybe 3 oz of meet with a couple

I am shocked to read any even semi-negative reviews of this restaurant because I thought it was fabulous. I'm from New York and have high standards for restaurants. so I am extremely picky about everything when it comes to details. F

my hubby and I went there for our 20th anniversary and was made to feel as though we were the only people in the restaurant. The service by Larry was outstanding, the food absolutely fantastic!!He saved a table for us in the jazz bar for after dinner entertainment by the amazing Begee Adair. What a wonderful night! We told our neighbors about and they went the following night and had the same wonderful experience. We'll be back again and again!

Can anyone tell me if this is the type of place I can put on a good suit and enjoy some jazz without feeling like I'm over dressed? I'm 34 and just wanna find a nice atmosphere, free of hip-hop though I love it to the death, to relax and maybe have a conversation of substance with people who are willing to talk about more than Michael Jackson's death.

My wife and I had been looking forward to visiting F. Scott's for some time. We decided to try out the bar. I spent five minutes trying to find a wine selection that was appealing and reasonably priced. When I told the sommelier standing behind the bar that I wasn't knocked out by the selection, she made an indignant gesture, grabbed the wine list, and walked away. She then went out of her way to have loud conversations with other guests nearby around how she selects wines...conversations that my wife and I were very clearly meant to hear.

It actually took several minutes for one bartender to get me a drink at one point, even after she'd taken my order. Of course, having her mother come to the bar was probably a distraction since she spent most of her time talking to her. I also overheard some slightly unexpected comments on other patrons there.

Disappointing and not what I expected given the reputation here in Nashville.

Pros: Live Music

Cons: Service Attitude

.

Nice 20's ambiance, much older crowd, no wait on a Friday night. As for the food, I ordered the beef tenderloin and the beef and all the sides including the sauce were very bland. Even salt didn't help. The bread basket came out with stale bread. Live jazz in the bar was nice but I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Not only is F. scott;s the best restaurant in Nashville, but it compares favorably with wonderful restaurants around the world. The menu is seasonal, and there are always specials. The food is uniformly interesting, innovative and most important, absolutely delicious. The portions are ample, but not ridiculous. The servers are always well informed, and warm and attentive, without being intrusive. The entire environment is comfortable and relaxed, yet special enough for a dressy occasion. The daily, live jazz from the bar provides great background music but it is still quiet enough for pleasant conversation. Elise, one of the owners, is a wine expert, and fills her list with interesting, unusual and fairly priced bottles. She loves to help you choose. F. Scott's is a delightful experience in every way.

F. Scotts is one of the best, if not the best in restaurant in Nashville. The menu is always fresh, the staff is excellent, and the wine list is great. The jazz bar is great as well. Steve is the perfect host. We have enjoyed this restaurant since our first date in 2002. For special occasions or just a fun evening out, F. Scotts is consistent.

Pros: Service, Food

The food at F. Scott's is good but pricey. They have live music at times and the atmosphere is nice. Great location right in Green Hills. I enjoyed my visit, however, for the price I would choose somewhere else. The service was great.

Pros: Good Food and service
Con: Pricey for what you get

We went recently for our anniversary and had a very nice dinner. The server was very knowledgeable and he did a very good job pairing wines for us. We liked all our food, but our fish entrees were outstanding! My only knock is that it's a little dated inside, but it is Green Hills so it is what it is. The jazz in the bar is nice touch as well.

F. Scott's is by far my favorite restaurant in Nashville...and I have certainly been to alot of them. The food and atmosphere are phenomenal. You can almost always be seated in the bar and you are taken care of just as carefully as if you are in the dining area. The jazz is always a nice experience to go along with the food. This is THE place for a romantic experience.

I have never written a restaurant review before, but wanted to tell you all about our dinner at F. Scott's because I had been nervous after reading some negative Citysearch write-ups on the place. I took my boyfriend there for a romantic and relaxing date and couldn't have been more pleased. The atmosphere was classy, clean, quiet and comfortable. We could enjoy the bar's lovely jazz music from the dining room, though it wasn't overwhelming. Our waitress was friendly, unobtrusive, and very knowledgable. Our courses were paced out perfectly. The food was perfect in size (filling and they clearly don't try to make up for quality with quantity) and ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DELICIOUS. We began with Caesar salad, winter soup, and restaurant's warm homemade breads. My boyfriend dined on the pork chop for dinner while I loved the vegetarian special: spicy artichokes, root vegetables, and red wine risotto. For dessert, we luxuriated in a ginger apple crisp a la mode. It was also all elegantly presented. When the bill came, both my boyfriend and I noted that it was an appropriate sum for this all-around excellent experience. And upon leaving, we found we'd been sitting for so long that we'd closed down the restaurant at the end of the night, and no one had rushed us away... or even hinted! It was all perfectly lovely.

My family went only because we heard strong recommendations from a professor at Vanderbilt. We realized the prices were high...but great food can come with a great price. Not here....
The menu is limited and has generalized (not creative) menu items of an overpriced wannabe restaurant. I ordered the chicken and was disappointed with the flavor. It was dried out and only had some flavor thanks to the thick sauce underneath. The server forgot to bring drinks mulitple times and we were left with unfilled glasses. On a positive note, the wine was good. The meals weren't absurdly small in size, just in flavor. We were unimpressed...they would have to change more than the daily specials for us to go back.

My wife had Sable Fish and I had the pan-seared monkfish. Both were excellent. Glazes/sauces for the fish were lightly sweet. Our appetizer of goat cheese, mushrooms, and bacon on flatbread was delicious - and very rich. The ambience is classy without being stuffy.

My friend found a pubic hair in her food here. I was with her. I saw it. I would advise checking your plate for pubic hairs prior to eating your meal.

I had the worst dinner at F. Scotts I've ever had in Nashville: the service was rude, the food was cold, and the wine I ordered had turned bad (when I sent it back, she tried to sell me on another wine that was $20 more expensive with no apologies). If you want a nice meal, I would encourage you to go elsewhere.

I've been to F. Scott's a dozen times, and everytime the service has been wonderful and the food -- perfect. This is not a $$$$ steak-house, go to Morton's or Ruth's Cris if you want steak (although F. Scott's does have a very good filet mignon). But, if you want amazing, creative and varied cuisine, along with a sophisticated and romantic atmoshpere, then F. Scott's is your place.

The only place I can think of in Nashville that has comparable cuisine is Flyte. And while my experience at Flyte was great, I'd take the service and ambience of F. Scott's everytime.

So, unless you're a high-schooler that doesn't appreciate the enormity of restaurant management replacing, on the spot, a dress your server damaged so that you're little prom isn't ruined, I think you'll enjoy F. Scott's.

Not a place I would take friends or dine again. My dish was burned and the service was poor.

I decided to go to F Scotts for my senior Prom. The ambiance was wonderful, I really enjoyed the meal I ordered. The Service was good, up until they decided to clean the table. The lady who was cleaning the table spilt oil all over my dates prom dress. The management did do a very good job of makeing it the best situation possible but I just couldn't believe that a place of that stature would spill oil all over my girlfriends silk dress. They management heppened to get another dress that was the right size and style just a different color. I realize it was an accident but those kind of things shouldnt happen because her dress is ruined now. If they wouldn't have gotten another dress I would have been really mad, because my prom night would have been ruined, but I wont ever go there again. I really didn't expect to worry about something like on my prom night, I couldn't imagine taking her on a regular date there. You would think they would have been extra careful around a silk dress but I guess the waitress wasnt paying attention.

F.Scotts gets the best acts every night in their intimate Bar, which is connected to the restaurant. With an in-house sound system and grand piano, you know they take it seriously, even before hearing the great acts. Performers such as Beegie Adair, Liz Johnson, John Birdsong, Bruce Dudley, and SO many more, are regulars. As a bonus, the costumer service remains top-notch, even for the concert-goers are the bar.

After wks of research, I decided on F. Scotts to host a small business dinner. Absolute 10+. I followed the suggestions below and requested Larry. I have to say, the guy made our evening memorable. His witty dry humor will have u on the floor!

Go w/ the Walnut Pork, Beef Tenderloin, or even the Seafood Pie (we tried a bit of everything) and nothing but the Chef's Specialty Pizza as an appetizer. Matter of fact, I would go back 4 the pizza alone. The quality, freshness, presentation, and seasonings of all of our entrees were mouth watering and pretty much I think the best food ever. Don't even get me started on the delicious salads (perfect ceasar to baby greens and more) and homemade dressings; not enough space to do them justice!

From the wine menu, we selected (w/expert assistance of course:) a delightful Oregon chardonnay aged in Oak barrels (can't recall winery) and a robust Cab which the men preferred more than the gals. Wine lovers get ready! They even use Riedel wine glasses.

We did not save room 4 dessert, esp. after apps, salads, entrees, but they sounded lovely. The fresh bread basket can be a meal in itself. Save room 4 dinner, lol.

Several members of my party stayed afterwards to enjoy the Jazz Trio "Birdsong" and totally blew us away. (Hint: consider sending 1 member of your party to claim an early table in the cozy Jazz Bar).

I can not say enough how highly I recommend F.Scotts for all fine dining/entertainment requirements. I hope you enjoy as much as we did and make sure you arrive hungry!

the last two times have been disappointing. all saucey stuff which is hiding any true potential quality. buttery rich sauce to me is kinda cheating because it makes anything taste good, if you like that kind of thing.

I went to F. Scott's for a birthday celebration...and it was the most wonderful experience. The wait staff, management, and food were outstanding. They had confetti on the table and a candle for the desert. Birdsong Jazz was playing (with guest) and were the most amazing group. Great music and people! If I lived in Nashville, I would be there often.

Supper for 2: Appetizers: Quail (excellent pairing with apricots & bacon) and Salmon Napoleon (good blend of flavors). Split a goat cheese salad (good, but overpriced). Entrees: Sablefish (great complements - zucchini, pearl tomatoes, fried okra, but the fish was a little dry) and special Ahi Tuna (very rare - great flavor, true sashimi grade. Paired with watermelon! bizarre, but a wonderful flavor combo). Dessert: Peach Galette (when they say homemade, they mean it - pastry was fresh, crisp - no reheating of someone else's desserts. Hidden value: The sommelier is a delightful woman who knows her wines and can recommend wines to match the palette and budget. Try to be seated at a Larry's table - an attentive, knowledgeable waiter, who does not hover over the table. Great place for special occasions - live music doesn't suffocate your ability to have a quiet conversation. Not "cheap", but a very fair value for "fine dining."

Excellent gourmet and traditional American menu with seasons and marinades to die for. A+ wine menu and congenial master sommelier (?Wendy) is thriled to assist in a relaxed manner. If u request the personable Larry as your server, he will won't steer u wrong. Lambchops, and grouper r my favs. Also Ceasar salad and creme brulee dessert yummy.
The gourmet pizza appetizer it is a must! Crisp buttery crust w/ gourmet sauces, cheeses, and fresh toppings. Special requests r no problem for the awesome chef. Nightly specials assure repeat customers.
There r no bad seats d/t layout of rooms separated by artistic glass so you don't feel boxed in and can still have private chats.
The non-starchy, friendly manner of this 5 star restaurant is refreshing and highly recommendedl Enjoy!

F. Scott's is quite a find in Nashville -it's great to relax in the lounge area while listening to the live nightly jazz (Beegie Adair is a must-see!) and enjoying drinks and appetizers (although they do serve the full menu in the lounge). If you go in for a full meal in the restaurant area, you're in for a great experience. The pricey bill will be well worth it. The appetizers and entrees have always been great. The extensive, original wine list is a big draw as well, and the sommelier/owner is unbelievably helpful and knowledgable. If you don't mind dropping some serious cash on a meal, this is a great place to go -start of with drinks in the jazz lounge, move to the restaurant, enjoy a leisurely meal and make it a worthwhile couple of hours.

This was our first time at F. Scotts and it was for our anniversary. We were very pleased with the service from the time entering the door till our departure. The cocktails were great and arrived timely. Appetizer was outstanding so much that my husband who does not like avocado was amazed he was eating a dish made with it. Every course was amazing and presented very well. The staff were all attentive and professional but not in a starchy way as we have experienced in other establishments. I would highly recommend the restaurant for not only special occasions but also for casual dinners as well. The live jazz music was an added bonus. We will be returning most definitely.

USe to really enjoy this place - then I had a kid and did not get out for a while. Now the food was insipid, the sauces poorly matched to the dish, and the service well, we will not go there. But as they were half empty on a Friday night I guess most others have figured out that F.Scotts has gone down the tubes. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

But as they were half empty on a Friday night I guess most others have figured out that F.Scotts has gone down the tubes. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Pros: Valet Parking

Cons: , Boring sauces, Poor execution

.

I have always found the ambience and service at F. Scott's to be good. And the after 9pm dining specials is one of the best kept secrets around. And 2 out of 3 times I have found the food to be superb, but this is what makes the inconsistency all the more disappointing. I raved to a friend about this restaurant, and we finally went recently. Unfortunately we were both very disappointed with our entrees, although the dessert was excellent.

Pros: service, atmosphere, sometimes food

I expect a snooty waiter at really nice dressy restaurants with really great food, but this is not it. My three guests and I were seated and immediately made to feel like we were being babysat. I'm 29 years old, and know how to order meals at places other than Hardee's. I also don't expect any funny looks or comments because I want, oh my you're not going to believe this, "TAP WATER"!!! That's right, what a backwoods hick I must be. Anyway it got worse from there and if they want to be picky and upscale, they should correct the several glaring grammatical errors on the dessert menu. The food was actually OK, but we ate at the half price "9 dine" time and I wouldn't recommend paying their full price otherwise.

I was expecting a lot after hearing all the positive comments, but we were very disappointed. The food seem to lack distinct taste. Everything blended. The only taste was from sauces that were covering the food, at least the sauces added a little flavor. The chocolate beignets were terrible. They were drowned in oil, and with a fork you could see it ooze out. The decor, old. We were sat in the back and there was loud banging throughout the whole dinner.

Unfortunately, there are only a handful of exceptional restaurants in Nashville (maybe if we had an income tax we could solve that problem too - but never give a lobbyist an even break). Even without Margot as their chef, F. Scott's continues to be one of the best restaurants in this city. Excellent, well informed service with masterful creations is a recipe that too many big time chains (Palm, Morton's, Ruth Chris, etc.) have forgotten. For those that enjoy tight quarters and beautiful people, their Jazz Bar is hip & crowded. But we go for the food & service in the restaurant

Pros: excellent food, excellent service, reasonably priced

Cons: Need larger wine list

Truly inspired gourmet cuisine and an always professional staff. The only other place in Nashville whose food and service has impressed me as being so consistently excellent is The Palm (but my history with F. Scott's goes back MUCH further).

Attentive servers cater to your every whim while serving up their killer California cuisine! The wine list is impeccible and the desserts are to die for!PLUS...you are afforded the charm of dining within earshot of some of the most fab jazz artists around as they perform in the lounge. After a lovely dinner experience, I always head that way to enjoy the music up close. I am a native Nashvillian and FScotts is always my choice when it comes to a romantic evening!

Fantstic food matched by exquisite service. My colleague and I were at a meeting in Nasvhille and stayed near F. Scott's. We were sorry we ate there the first night as service and food were so great that nothing compared for the following two nights!

F. Scott's is amazing. Everything for the hostess to Chef Jason's amazing meals is amoung the best. One of the best things about this restaurant is the ever changing menu. It keeps you on your toe's, but don't worry there is never a bad appitizer, salad, or entree'. The wait staff is always friendly and willing to talk you through everything from the amazing wine list to the dessert menu. I have dined all over the world and I would say that this is one of the best in the usa.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The staff greeting us at the door were very friendly and prompt in seating us. Every bite of food we had was delicous. From the Vietnamese pancake appeteizer to the chocolate bomb -- it was all perfectly prepared and presented. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. He also recommended a great wine to go with our meal. F. Scott's is a little pricey, so it is definitely a special occasion type of place. Kudos to F. Scott's for making online reservations available.

Great ambience, good food and some of the best music in Nashville. The variety of the menu is quite impressive and the daily specials are usually unique and quite tasty. One of the best places to go in Nashville for a good and romantic dinner for two or to hang out with 40 people in the bar listening to great jazz performers and doing a little toe tapping.

Every time I have been to F. Scotts it has been excellent. It was the first restaurant I tried after moving to Nashville, and I have never been disappointed. The service, food, and music are always wonderful.

The dining experience was a gift certificate from my director. I took my 15 year old daughter and her boyfriend. I had chicken, my daughter seafood, and her boyfriend had steak. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and came close to "locking the platters clean"! What great food!!

F. Scott's has long been a hangout for Nashville's well-heeled cultural elite. This is a restaurant that puts some thought into the art on the walls and the jazz combos in the lounge, and so a trip here is always an urbane experience. None…
