The people in here are all nice. They are good company and they always have some interesting stories to share and their bartender is quick to respond.

We came to Nashville in January for vacation and spent Thursday evening at Tootsies. Yes, it was crowded but the music was fantastic. The Scott Collier band rocked that place. The bartenders and everyone in there was friendly. We never had

Whether you want to have a cold beer after a game or concert downtown or just hang out and listen to music, this is the spot. It is very convenient being on Broadway downtown. This is the real deal, a legend in Nashville.

We take our out of town guests here whenever they can. This place is well known all over, and the live music can be very good at times. It is close to the hockey games too so we can grab a beer after the weekend games. Parking is not easy,

First off, I love Broadway & the legend of Tootsie's... I have been in there before (not during nighttime activity) and it was so cool to see the inside! We went Saturday night and the doorman let us in and there was NO ROOM... we made

I drove over 800 miles for an afternoon of spirited live country music and Jake Mauer and Kari his fiddler and band didn't disappoint. Went out of my way on a trip to Florida and had a ball. Bar was packed and EVERYONE had a great time. Place has history and is what Nashville and country music is all about. Will NEVER visit Nashville without a stop at Tootsie's, you feel like Willie and Patsy are there with you. And the Tootsie's Famous barbeque sandwich was also awesome.

We too stopped in at Tootsies because of it's reputation. It can be a little shocking that it is so small and rundown, but if you are willing to appreciate it's history- you'll have a great time. We heard some great bands there, namely Jake Mauer and Joanna Smith. Both were excellent artists and knew how to put on a great show! On top of that though, they both had an amazing fiddle player. I believer her name was Kari Nelson. Wow. That girl can play and entertain a crowd.... when she started rocking out Devil went down to Georgia- the crowd literally doubled! We had a great time and stayed for the entire gig. Give the place a chance and enjoy the night out!

Cons: crowded

I love Tootsie's. It's totally a tourist stop, but I can't help but have a good time. The bartenders are really good and most are friendly. The upstairs has an outdoor area, which is small, but the only place smokers can be! Two floors, two bars, and two bands. Also, Tootsie's has no cover charge. If you can stand the crowd and the pricey drinks, it's definitely worthwhile. I live here and enjoy it very much. It's a great place to take out of town guests who may not be in touch with their "honkey tonk" side!

I was priviliged to meet Tootsie, She was a grand lady. She treated you like you were her friend. She is missed by all that knew her. She put my records on her jukebox and my picture on the wall before anyone else did.
I thought a lot of her. The greats and the has beens and the never was, were her friends. She helped so many. I know she has a place in heaven and still serves that good chili and keeps order with that famous hat pin.

Tootsie's is the real deal. A true Nashville honkey tonk. The place is always packed, and smokey, and it's everything you would expect. Since it backs up to the Ryman, there's no telling who will drop by to sing.

This is the last place on Broadway I'd take anyone!! It was awful! Wearing make-up doesnt make you beautiful....SMILE once in awhile! Oh yeah, it helps if girls can get drinks from the bar...we have money too!
I always tell my out of town guests that they are more than welcome to go to Tootsies if they want, but I'll be somewhere...ANYWHERE...else on the street!

How sad that the owners of the Famous Tootsie's Lounge have let it go so bad. It's falling apart and it seems that money is more important than keeping up an aging an formerly great club. Shame on you.

We were just in Nashville for a convention & visited Tootsies bar everyday.
There was a female fiddle player that played with several of the bands & she was FANTASTIC!
She was playing with a different band everytime we went in & sounded better than all of them!

This gal should be famous by now....Not sure of her name...but I think they called her "Ms. Corey".
Bar was crowded everytime we were there, but worth it to here her play!

My best friend and I just got back from a long weekend in Nashville. We wanted to try out all the different bars on Broadway and 2nd, but ended up at Tootsie's every night. The live entertainment there is awesome... You MUST hang out upstairs and see Leslie Craig. She is an amazing singer and so much fun! Also, the bartenders are super nice and it's always crowded there.... which goes to show you that everyone has fun at Tootsie's. That was our first time in Nashville and we will go back soon... thanks to Tootsie's!!!! :)

Cons: the bathroom is really hard to get to from upstairs... but there's a secret one next door if you go out the back door. Ask the door man. He will know.

A friend and I spent three days in Nashville in June. We LOVED Tootsies. Yes, it is old and no, it is not fancy. It is a good, beer drinking, live music, country bar, which is exactly what these Texas girls were looking for. The staff was wonderful and we met a great guy from Atlanta there and partied with him the next night, also at Tootsies. Another friend celebrates her 40th December of '09. She wants to celebrate it at Tootsies. After spending many years in Austin, it is Tootsies and Nashville for us!!!! We stayed in a hotel down the street and felt safe walking to and from the hotel, even after dark. There were many great bar-b-que places close by. We can't wait to go back.

I, like everyone else, went to Tootsies when I first moved here. This is the worst bar I've ever been to in any city in the world. I get that it is a historical landmark where a bunch of famous people use to go, but get over yourselves. This bar is nothing but a dump with bad service, rude little boys that call themselves "owners", and bands that make howling alleycats sound good. On top of everything else, you can't move in there, there are fights pretty much every night, it's too loud to here yourself think, and really...what's with the bathroom attendant?!? The ladies room is ten steps below disgusting and you can hardly fit the two women in there that need to use the restroom, let alone some weird woman handing you a towel! I will absolutely never go back to this bar or take any friends that come in from out of town when there are way better places to go on Broadway.(Rippy's patio & The Stage) I know who owns this place, but they seriously need to do something about pretty much every aspect of this pile!

Cons: everything about the place, other than the color of the building

Definitely a place to visit. Really busy and a great atmosphere. Really is a basic club/pub and the bar staff are really busy & some fairly hot too :)

I've come over from the UK on a Tessitura conference and everyone from the UK and US enjoyed equally. I wasn't into country or bluegrass, but seeing it live has changed my opinion. The only disappointing part was I wasn't ID'd at all in Nashville. I obviously fit in with the mid 30's crowd

I thought this place was amazing. Great history. Great fun. Everyone was super nice from the door to the floor. Our party was from Detroit and they gave us shout outs all night. One of the performers "Scott" took our video camera while he was singing and recorded us in the crowd. Good music, made some great freinds. This placed does get packed (all day long) so go early and bird hawk a table. Holler & swaller!!!!

This bar stinks. I am from the west coast and my friend accidentally went upstairs in a staircase that wasn't marked at all no signs and had a open door and was a business office (totally not on purpose) performing as a guitarist in an hour in their shi**y bigoted club and was treated like a piece of doo doo. some guy yelled at him like "get the hell out of here what the f*** ar eyou doing here"...no questions asked. Didn't even have the dignity to say, are you performing?? Some total as***** greeted him didn't even ask him who he played for. Unreal my buddy will never play this bar again. I say who gives a fu** who the f*** Tooties thinks they are, never again will he step foot there....only in Nashville could you get treated this way like a second class citizen even when someone works for a major artist.....very sad...I used to respect country and the country "way" but boy has that changed in this dumpy town...

After passing an ID check at the door and having already drank a round of beers, I was refused service because the bartender wouldn't accept my (legitimate) out-of-state driver's license. Don't waste your time in this place. Even before the ID incident, the service was lousy, the atmosphere was dark and dull and there were not a lot of beers available. Most of the crowd seemed older (35-plus). Maybe they were trying to send a message about the kind of clients they want by refusing to serve me. That's OK -- we spent our money elsewhere and had a great time. Stop in for a visit, watch a band play for a little while and move on.

Not great. Cool history, but go elsewhere if you're looking for a night out in Nashville. More like an attraction than a bar you should hang out at. Bartenders seem to have great difficulty with out-of-state licences, so bring backup, even if you're over 30. The live music is cool, but there are a host of other, better places to get a drink in walking distance. Pass.

We just returned from a "girlfriend getaway" to Nashville March 3-6. Every night we attended some of the other bars, but we always ended up at Tootsie's at the end of the night. Yes - it was crowded - but that was part of the appeal. Yes it is old and dirty, but again - that was part of the appeal. This is a blue jeans bar; don't go dressed up. The bands were excellent upstairs and downstairs every time. We found the crowd to be mostly tourists like ourselves; but everyone was nice to each other. We met quite a few people, even a few locals. If you wanted to dance - you could usually find someone to swing around the floor with (not much room to do so though). Mon-Wed night the beer was $4 and compared to the other bars downtown. We were able to get a beer by going to the end of the bar without too much trouble. The bartenders were fine; I'm not sure how friendly people expect them to be when the place is jam packed and they are working hard to take care of the crowd. They can pop a top off a beer like it's nobody's business. We wish we would have gotten t-shirts from here. This was by far our favorite place to be. Merle Haggard's sister was there one of the nights we were there. You never know who you might see. We're married and in our 30's and had a great time; I would take my husband there. If you don't have a good time here; its your own fault.

We went in December for my birthday and it was my first time going. I loved it so much. The upstairs band was great and the back patio was nice. Down stairs was crowded but go in the back door and it's a little less conjested. We went back a few weekends ago and the same lead singer was playing upstairs and he rocked along with the rest of the band. We will be going back again and again. It is a wonderful place for an out -of-towner to get a taste of what Nashville is all about.

As a Kentuckian who has been going to Tootsie's for over 10 years to party, I can tell everyone out there that the staff IS NOT rude, nor have they ever been to me. I dance on the speakers upstairs, will pass a tip jar for the band, the bouncers are always real friendly (smiles) and one Sunday afternoon about 7 years ago, I got to sit downstairs in the booth by the window with a couple of the performers and had a blast! I have several of the purple sheets handed out every day with autographs, etc. I also have autographs from several sessions players that fill in with the bands. My niece and I went down in October 2006 for the Nashville Star tryouts. She didn't win but she did get up on stage that weekend, upstairs at Tootsies and sang three song with Do Be Damned, whose lead singer was a finalist in the competition.

Tootsies rocks! Party on!

I'll be down there this weekend and you can bet I'll be at Tootsies!

Music was playing, the place was friendly, the beer was cold, and I asked myself why on earty I lived in Minnesota. The place has a spell and a magic and I'll be back for a second beer soon.

This place is truly a Nashville honky tonk bar.

It's smoky, there's almost live music (usually of the country or classic rock kind), and the bartenders are really cool.

Definitely visit if you're ever in Nashville.

We had a fantastic time. Day time Alicia from MN was friendly and offerred conversation. The music 9/6 & 7 was fun and lively-Thanks Reggie, your invloving Darlene from MN made Tootsies so family like for the tourists. The evening staff lacks cust. service skills-they clearly did not care if we ever had a drink. We could have spent way more money if they were more attentive. Restroom attendants are extrememly professional and appreciated. Loved Tootsie's and will be back.

Okay- so it's crowded- and loud- You're in Nashville- It's supposed to be. We drove 12 hours and found ourselves sitting in there our first day at 10 am.... now once we warmed up and made some friends- we fell in love with the dirty little place!! =) The gals behind the bar weren't as warm and fuzzy as we were- but we just figured they were tired....
What I liked- is they let us get on the bar and shake our groove thang- no one came yellin and screaming and me when I stood on a bar stool from the back to see the band....
We thought the bands were good- some more than others- but we got out of the heat and got to let loose in a place we found to be right up our alley. =)

with the rich long term history tootsies has provided, it is a crying shame it has become an rude, nasty, place as barmaids , tenders, bouncers are very rude and downright unfriendly. drinks excessively priced. musice purely is not quality that tootsies has over the years provided. definitely not the same tootsies i was reared with as a younger person and my frequent visits to the great music city and downtown and opry area. shame on tootsies allowing the business to become what it is today. i will not be going back as more renegades there than i want to socialize with. highly not recommended

Pros: past history memorabilia

Cons: dirty, rude, cold feeling, trashy atmosphere, stinks, odor, poor quality music

If you don't like country or southern rock - don't go to Tootsie's. But if you want to see what Country Music City is all about - this is, without a doubt, the place to go!! It just doesn't get any better than this! But, girls, don't go in skirts and high heels - this is stricly a jeans and cowboy boots club. This is a honky-tonk of the finest kind - dress and act accordingly. That means that dancing on the bar is not only recommended, but encouraged! And tequilla shots seem to appear out of thin air - purchased by eager male customers who want to see everyone have a good time! And don't be offended, girls, by the restrooms - it's a honky-tonk for Christ's sake - just be glad you don't have to go out side! Be sure to make your way upstairs and check out the upstairs bar and band - they were jamming!! And you just never know who might walk in to Tootsie's. I was there Tuesday night (4/10), and Joe Nichols walked in and sang a few songs with the band!!!! My picture with him that night will remind me of one of the best times I've had at Tootsie's!! I never go to Nashville without going to Tootsie's!! It is not to be missed! Look for me there! YEEHA!!

Cons: no disappointments here!

Knowing that you are in a place of such great history, goes a long way. Not many places could get away with the grime and unruley crowds like Tootsies can. Many try, but few have the charm. It just seems to work. Have a few, enjoy the music, and move on down the road before someone throws up on you.

It's a touristy place and the bouncer kinda blocks your way in, meaning it didn't feel friendly. Once inside you either stand at the door or sit at tall tables, but it's tiny so there's usually no place to sit. Everyone stares as people enter. Usually the band is accomplished but somehow not touching the heart strings.

If you a true country music fan you will enjoy your vist to Tootsies . Is it tight when there are alot of people there , yes , but I found the people there to be very nice . The bartenders are slammed from 10am to 3am , so expect a minor delay when getting drinks . At the same time enjoy the great music around you ! I personally would encourage all who vist Nashville to go to there . I left there knowing I was at the very spot Waylon Jennings once had played ,,,,, ENOUGH SAID !!

The first time I went to Nashville I thought I had to go to Tootsies. I went with some friends. Sat a few minutes. Listened to a good band. Felt ....like I did not belong there. I left wondering why I thought I had to go in there. Memorial weekend couple of years ago I went for a second time to lower Broadway in Nashville and I thought..."I will give Tootsies another chance. After all Tootsies is so famous and I must have been at a bad time before." The wait staff was not friendly and when I ordered "just a coke" I was frowned at and stared at till I left the room. I did enjoy the band when it finally came on. Soon we went upstairs because I thought I could hear Patsy Cline but it was a young beauty named Rebecca. I just knew she was one of those "stars" getting her big break through Tootsies. She needed to fire her band but she did have a beautiful voice. Why haven't heard of her again? OK...A couple more years have passed and I found my way back to lower Broadway and the group I was with wanted to meet up at Tootsies. I tried to talk them out of it but decided..."surely there is something to all the publicity." Why didn't they listen to me? The band was good. The service was not good. The drinks were too high. The waitress most have been experiencing "that time of the month." The place is over rated.I would much rather go to the right or left next time my group walks up to this door.

LOVED IT! Great atmosphere. Great music. Plenty of locals and visitors to share the experience with no matter when you show up.

Tootsies is a place that you should definitely visit in Nashville. There is so much history there. The place is crowded, but it is like that for a reason. At least go in and hang out for a while and if it is not for you, at least you can say you have been in the same place that so many famous people have mde their start.

What can you take with you when you leave? Everyone else's sweat and odors along with a few spilled drinks all over your outfit. There is absolutley NO ROOM for anything in this place. It should be against codes to even keep it open. No bathroom access because teh crowd is too large..no one wants to let you through unless you fight them. Drinks cannot even be held due to the lack of arm room. The band can barely be heard unless you are lucky enough to be wedged in the front. Service from the waitress was horrible..

Went here a few times and the same thing is usually true....the bar staff is rude, crass and slow; the drink prices are inflated ($3 for water, come on!!) and the bands are mediocre at best. The only reason anyone would go here is the history and that is long gone. Since over run by people who could obviously care less about it...Many of the classic pictures on the wall have been defaced in one way or another. Very sad.....I would rather go one of the other country bars down there and will in the future.

We enjoyed going to Tootsies several times on our Nashville vacation. No, it's not the cleanest place, but their is so much history behind it that you can't help but be fascinated by it. The live performances are always a lot of fun to watch. You can not visit Nashville without taking a trip to Tootsies!

this place is known for its music. there isnt a night that you can walk right in off of the street. That is completely unheard of! The ceiling is really nasty from cigarrette smoke- if you are ever in nashville or if you havent ever been I would suggest going a couple of time! it is truely a blast. It is fun to dance and listen to the live band! I hope you have a great time!

I used to love Tootsies. But I feel they have "sold out." Witness their new location in frickin Panama City Beach. You just don't do that! And now they reserve the booth up front, when it used to be first come, first serve. I think I'd even take The Stage over Tootsies now. Which is sad.

Cons: Television at bar, Music not as good as befofre, Crowds

I know this is a country landmark and THE place to go when your in Nashville but they really don't show southern hospitality and it's too super crowded. I was in the bar one night and was not able to get by the stage area without being pushed by the crowd. I was finally forced to sit on the stage because there was no other space for me to be. I was told repeatedly to move from the stage but there was no where else to go, I couldn't even get up to leave! The next time I tried to go I was hassled by the doorman after picking up friendly conversation with the doorman. I was told to leave before I even got in the door because I had a conversation with the man looking at my ID. They get no more of my money.

A few weeks ago 5 of us girls met in Nashville for a "girls weekend away". Coming from Texas, Arkansas, Ohio and Alabama. Tootsie's was a great place! Having a choice of two bands was terrific, something for everyone. We are looking forward to making Nashville an Annual Event and including Tootsie's as one of our favorite hang outs. If you are planning on visiting Nashville, this place is a MUST.
